  1. Ah, sorry pic is horizontal, I tried making it vertical.
  2. Caught this bass on a Fat Ika. Tough city lake that gets hammered and the water level is low. So I was surprised to have this almost 2+lber hit the Ika. That bass was a hard puller, fun fight! Took the pic and saw how vivid the colors on pic is.
  3. Owner 11/0 worm hook, or a VMC 8/0 EWG HOOK
  4. The TRD worm on a mushroom head or an Owner stand up jighead has caught bass, and one of them was a long cast out and a long fight back. Too much fun!
  5. I was using my older Daiwa Fuego 2000 reel on a Fuego spinning rod with 6lb P-Line. So glad I had the drag set perfectly. And the bass was hooked on the corner of the mouth, that no way was it getting unhooked! 2nd big bass of the year and thanks to the Z-Man TRD worm as a jerk bait.
  6. I don't know if you guys tried this before instead of a mushroom head jig head. Used a small wide gap hook and put a BPS clip on weight, 1/16 oz. I used the TRD "The Deal" color, which looks like a shad as a jerk bait. I casted parallel to shore and jerked it back....felt a fish hit it and I set the hook... To my surprise, a great fight and landed a 6lb bass, using the Z-Man TRD as a jerkbait!
  7. Looking to getting this reel. If you own or tried one, please review.
  8. Smallmouth bass, pike and walleye are invasive species: http://www.grindtv.com/wildlife/voracious-predators-threaten-colorado-river-basins-endangered-native-fish/#r7ypaxy37QCWYmLS.97
  9. Caught a bass earlier this evening, using the Ned Rig. I saw my line was slack even though I pulled in some slack. So I set the hook and didn't feel the bass till it took off. A nice 2+ lber. I noticed the bass swallowed the Ned Rig, did my best to take out the gut hook. It was a bit dark and thought it wasn't deeply hooked. Well, I was wrong. I put the bass in the water and it just kept coming up. I felt so bad, I so hate accidentally killing a bass. Another fisherman saw what happened and offered to take the bass and make a meal. I said ok, cuz that Bass wasn't going to make it. Ned Rig works with the exposed hook, but now I know a chance for a gut hook is much higher with this rig, since it's a small worm and small jig. Rest in peace the bass I caught, it was not my intention to kill you. Yeah, I'm bumming out.
  10. Thanks Guys! I'll post the Shimano family sometimes
  11. Left to right: Zillion Type R, Zillion 50th Anniversary, Zillion Coastal, Zillion 100SHL 7.1:1 and Tatula Type R Just got the Zillion Coastal last week, it completes the family. All stock form, I like them as is. Good lookin' fish catchin' kids of mine!
  12. Does it exist? I did a google search and nothing.
  13. There's no reviews on the BPS website for this reel, just wanted to know if anyone even owns this baitcast reel. If you do own this year's model, how is it and how it compares to previous Extreme model years? Any good?
  14. I'm looking for the least amount of stretch, close to braid in 15-20 lb test.
  15. True fish story and all 3 pics, same bass. Using a yum craw dad on ultralight. I felt a bite, set the hook...using 6lb nanofil braid...line snaps...OH S***!!!! I see the line 6-8' away in the water...and the line starts moving away. I think fast, pull my cell phone from my pocket and put it on the grass..I wade out to retrieve the line. I'm fighting the bass using my hands on the line...never done that before! I pull the bass close and land it! I was beyond thrilled, didn't lose the bass, didn't have so many feet of braided line floating in the water and I get a bass after so many weeks of goose egg fishing. I ended up catching 4 bass before leaving the lake! Epically a cool day of catching!
  16. I used Nanofil, 6/2. And well, it snapped on me setting the hook. So Walmart had certain poundage Fireline for $5, so I bought 6/2 poundage. I feel both lines and feel similar. So, what's the difference? And is Fireline better than Nanofil???
  17. I'm about to pull the trigger for one of these reels. I want it for swimbaits and some saltwater fishing. I like the idea of a power handle but concerned that casting with a power handle will engage the reel during the cast. Which of these 2 would be best suited for what I am wanting it for?
  18. I'm looking to getting this reel for swimbaits and some ocean fishing. I'm wondering if the 50/51 size has a Non-Disengaging Levelwind System and baitclicker. Or are these 2 features only available on the Toro NaCl 60/61. The other option is the Daiwa Lexa 300 in lefty.
  19. Meant Shimano Does this lure work in freshwater fishing?
  20. Thought I'd share. New as of today, Daiwa Tatula Type R reel, 6.3:1, Tatula 6'10" MH rod. Zillion Type R, 7.3:1 bottom left; Zillion 50th anniversary, 7.3:1 bottom middle; Zillion 7.1:1 bottom right Now I just have to find a Zillion Coastal in left hand...
  21. Cool, thanks for the quick reply. I'm about to pull the trigger on the Lexa 300 left hand reel with power handle. The Cardiff with the power handle wasn't balanced right. I brought the reel to Shimano in Irvine and well they told me the same thing you did. The power handle came from another round reel and I just thought it would work.
  22. Can you make casts with the power handle vs the standard double paddle handle? I tried a power handle on my Shimano Cardiff 301 and it did not cast right. It would engage when making a cast.
  23. Oh now that's a bummer! My 3 Zillions have micro click tension knob.
