To give an idea the size of the Rebel Raider(2"), on top. On the bottom a Spro BBZ-1 Shad Baby (2.5"). Both are 1/8 oz in weight. The Rebel Raider casts a bit better than the Spro.

How do you fish/work the phat fly
  3. Got this little glide lure, Rebel Raider. Works good and fooled this little bass. Daiwa Presso 7' UL rod, Shimano Symetre 500FJ. Only concern I've thought of, if a bigger bass hit the Rebel Raider, it will probably inhale the whole lure. It has small size 12 trebles on it. I hope for lip hook ups...
  4. Cheese Burgers in Paradise. A Christmas gift from many years ago, from the Jimmy Buffet store in FL. Yozuri bird lure. Found it on eBay a few years ago, thought it was different. I probably won't be using these lures, the cheese burger is from a Brother in law that past away...but it would be cool to get a bass on it though. Even a bass likes a good cheese burger! The Yozuri bird, well it's just different. It's small no more than 1/8-1/4 oz. It hasn't touched water.
  5. Wide tip Sharpie. I cut a slit or 2 and run my braid through.
  6. I haven't used this braided line before, so can anyone comment for use on a baitcast reel and for freshwater use please.
  7. Ugh! Lost 2 lures last night fishing but caught 2 bass with different lures...I don't think that makes up for losing 2 lures. 1st lure was a new Cabelas Swimbait, $7 and lost a jig on an errant cast into the trees. The jig I'm not too worried about the swimbait was like my second cast...and gone. A bit of sob, sob; but I recovered. I could just imagine the fish that Cabelas swimbait would have caught...

  9. Few years ago, I sold a Shimano Cardiff 101 round baitcast reel. To this day, I wish I didn't do it, even though a couple years later I bought a Calcutta 101TE. I for some reason really like that reel, and have been on a hunt trying to find another one. What's your story???
  10. For me it was a few years ago, an Osprey 8" swimbait. I casted, got caught up in some brush and the 20 lb Seaguar floro line snapped when I put pressure trying to pull the Osprey swimbait free. It was in about 5' of water and about 50' or so out of my reach...I was so tempted to wade out and save it. Like a dummy, I went and bought a new one, and still didn't catch a bass on it. So what's your story???
  11. Found at a tackle store, brand new in Michigan a couple weeks ago and at the original price and not jacked up in price. The red Buzzjet Jr looks like a nice compliment to the Zillion 50th Anny
  12. I've been wanting one of these since I saw one 4 years ago. Now if you find one new, in box it costs as much as a Zillion Type R. I bought it at its original price. Just need a pair of black Reel Grips and it will be perfect. Had to go and fish the Zillion and caught and landed a bass on the Zillion 50th anniversary! I think I'll be catching more bass on this beautiful reel.
  13. Ok, I put on a size 2 KVD on one of The Eggs...interesting. I'll try both modifications this Friday. Thanks for responding.
  14. Hmmm...I like that idea. I guess a front treble isn't really needed with that short of a body crankbait. I'll have to do one of the other The Eggs I have with the one size 2 KVD hook. I also do have a size 2 Gamakatsu short shank treble, that should work too, right?
  15. Here's a nice bass, I'm guessing in the 3 lb range using The Egg with VMC short shank trebles. No problem hooking onto bass, I've had only on a few occasions have a bass pop off the lure, most times they are hooked good. I took one of The Egg's I have and installed size 6 KVD short shank trebles. The hooks still get tangled but doesn't seem to happen as much, I won't have a chance to try The Egg w/ the KVD's till this Friday...
  16. I've been using VMC short shank size 4 and the hookup is good with these hooks. However, since this lure is short in length, the trebles do tend to get fouled up. If you use this lure, what trebles are you using? I was thinking of using wide gap short shank Mustad KVD or Bill Lewis size 6...but not sure.
  17. BPS The Egg caught this nice bass. I like that I can cast this lure far, has very good action. It does come with crappy treble hooks so I changed out to VMC short shank size 4 trebles. Since this lure is short in length, the hooks get caught in each other. Also The Egg is a tough lure, it's been banged on rocks and other debris and have not lost the bill and still runs true. Have alot of confidence in this lure, also does a great job as a v wake lure.
  18. What do you guys think bout changing out the hooks to a kvd wide gap short size 4 in front and size 6 in back, I mean will changing the hooks to a wide gap mess with the way the scatter rap swims? This is in regard to the crank and shad scatter raps.
  19. Some stores have them now, I bought a Scatter Rap Shad(Ike's Carribean Shad color) and a Scatter Rap crank(Ike's Old School color). I've tried both out, the Scatter Rap Crank casts a little bit better than the Scatter Rap Shad. Swimming action, yeah it scatters on a medium retrieve but it start going to the side and up when it's cranked in faster. Not sure if I really like it, I really didn't like the price or the color selection I bought, BPS only carried a few colors and these 2 colors caught my eye. What's your take on the Scatter Raps? Caught any bass/fish on the Scatter Rap? What retrieve works best for you? What color did you get and which model?
  20. I have a couple of these lures and I've not caught any bass on them. I don't know if I'm using correctly or what. If you own this lure, how are you you using them and have you caught fish on them.
  21. I bought 2 from BPS. Its about an ounce and casts farther than a traditional buzz bait. It has like a 3/0 frog hook, I changed out to a size 2 treble hook. It buzzes on top and has slight body roll. You can stop at a submerged weed patch hole and twitch like a popper. With all that said...I've not caught on the lure yet. I bought both last month, not quite the right timing for using it, but wanted to check out the action.
  22. I like the rod, just not thrilled with the micro pitch tapering, more like micro ribs on the blank. The micro ribs has a tendency catching the line, especially if there is slack on the line like when you are changing out a lure or taking off a fish. I notice the line catching a bit more when I'm using 5 lb / 1 lb diameter Power Pro braid. Other thing I don't care for is how big the top guide is, a small inline spinner can almost go through the top guide...if wasn't for the hook to stop it, it would. It hasn't happened but I can see it happening. Those things said, I do like the rod overall. It is sensitive, I can feel an ultralight crankbait or an inline spinner through the line, I like the ultralight taper more than the Daiwa Spinmatic Ultralight I had previously.
  23. Bought the Daiwa Presso 7' rod and Shimano Symetre 500FJ a few months ago and have used the combo a few times. Today finally paid off with a small bass but felt like a nice one with the setup. I used a BPS ultralight XTS minnow. Just one bass, but it was fun.
