  1. I use as a swim jig trailer with good results
  2. This I must say is a unique color, I have not seen in person but it intrigues me. What water or light condition would this be best for? I can only think of night fishing.
  3. Found them at BPS and bought 3. Tried them out, action a bit different than original scatter rap crank and does not spin out during faster retrieves. However, when reeling in you hardly feel that there is a crankbait on The other end of the line, till you bump something and feel it. They can be casted on baitcast gear. On the fence if I like them or not. Any thoughts?
  4. http://www.***.com/Berkley_Lightning_Shock_Casting_Rods/descpage-BLSC.html I'm looking at the 7'6" model to throw 6" Hudds and sb's to 3 1/2 oz. What do you guys think?
  5. I have big time interest, available 2/21. TW will have available by that time. I wonder if BPS will have it available for the Spring Classic sale? If so, I have reward points and gift cards burning a hole in my pocket for the new Curado.
  6. That bought into this idea of an illusion lure? What do you think of this lure and the outrageous price? I bought the square bill and suspending jerkbait. It's right up there in price of a Lucky Craft. I've only had a chance to check out the action in a pool and both have good action. I did add a feathered rear treble on the jerkbait, I may add one on the square bill also. So in your opinion, will this be a good bass catcher, or did it catch the fisherman?
  7. Finally got my BPS master catalog this past Friday. What can I say about it? It almost looks like the 2013 catalog with just a few new items. Overall, I'm disappointed.
  8. Cuz I haven't gotten mine. Need new bathroom reading material, the 2013 catalog is now boring and worn to no end.
  9. I used to live in the Midwest, Indiana. I've caught walleyes, but always under the water. I don't recall every catching a walleye on top water. So do they hit top water lures?
  10. I used Cuda Platinum 2 lb line before, but Cuda is out of business. Now I'm looking for another 2 lb line for ultralight fishing. What have you used?
  11. It's been quite a while since I handled an SS Tournament reel, so I don't remember this. Does it have instant anti-reverse? Or is there a bit of play in the handle?
  12. ghost posted a topic in Fishing Tackle
So whats the call on these, yay or nay?
  13. Shimano, Daiwa, Quantum and Lew's don't have spare spools
  14. Totally blows the way economy is with spinning reels that now you don't get a spare spool like before, but the price of the spinning reel is the same. It's like when you buy a grocery item, it's about the same price but you get less. I like having that spare spool, so I have a spool with mono line and braided line. Now if you want a spare spool, you have to order from the reel manufacturer and pay for almost a quarter of what the reel cost plus shipping for the spool. It seems we're getting less for what we are paying for. I haven't bought a new spinning reel just for that reason. It seems that all reel manufacturer's are not including a spare spool...that sucks
  15. Do you turn off your mag brakes on your Daiwa b/c reel when it's not in use, or stored away for the season? I ask cuz I noticed a couple of my Daiwa b/c reels mag brake were on, probably on for a couple to few months. Will the mag brake still slow down the spool? Does the magnet degrade it's effectiveness after time if left on?
  16. I've had this lure for a few years and have used a few times but just a bit light to use and does not cast all that well. Gave it another shot today, popping it on top and then straight retrieve, the water a bit murky green and I see this bass come up from the murk and slam the spin tail! So cool to see that happen and the 2 lb bass put up a good fight since I was using a Zebco 11T Platinum spincast reel and Okuma crappie light baitcast rod. So glad I spooled 10/2 Power Pro braid, didn't want to lose any lures on 2 or 4 lb mono line snapping. The Bang O Lure Spin Tail on a straight retrieve has a nice wobble, just since it's balsa, it doesn't cast all that good. Oh well, spin tail 1, bass 0
  17. I already have the Shimano Symetre 500, trying to find one that's smaller with anti reverse
  18. I've been using P-Line CXX in 4 lbs, just wondering if there is anything else better. I'm using the line on UL setups I have, and noticed I've snapped the line a few times setting the hook. So any 4 lb line that's better?
  19. I have both the spincast and underspin for UL fishing. Fun reels but just wanted some opinion which line you use if you own either reel and what pound test.
  20. Has there been a baitcast reel made smaller than the Shimano Curado 50?
  21. What size hook comes on the 6" BBZ-1? What treble hook replacement would be a good choice? Thanks, Ghost
  22. Here's what I'm using. Shimano Symetre 500FJ spinning reel and a Daiwa Presson 7' ultralight rod. Balances out nicely and looks great. Cabela's sells the Daiwa Presso rods.
  23. I thought about this for some time and wouldn't you know it, Duo Realis comes out with the Spinbait. Much different than what I came up with but principle idea is the same. What I did was totally different. I wanted a crankbait that had wobble to it when it swims and thought that adding a prop on back might add a different something. I found a squarebill crankbait with no rattles. Not the color I would have liked, but color choices for a squarebill with removable hook eyelets are slim pickin's. I have no idea if this has been done before, just thought I'd tinker with my brainchild. Here is the result: I had to first find a crankbait that the eyelets I can take off, especially the rear eyelet. I used this idea on another crankbait but the bill was narrow and the lure just swam straight with the prop spinning. So I found a this lure, the one in the picture that has a squarebill. I tested my idea in a pool and it works. It has good wobble and the prop spins freely. Very buoyant, it will float up when I stop reeling and the prop spins too. I can also use the lure as a top water twitch lure. It'd be similar to a Spin Tail, but more of a compact body. That was the easy part, putting this crankbait together. Now comes the hard part...catching that first of many bass with my idea.
