  1. I have the Rick Clunn 7' MHCrankbait rod. Just thinking haven't tried if I could use it for drop shotting. It's a fiberglass rod and if cranks aren't working if I could switch out the rig to what I mentioned.
  2. Is there such a thing as floating fluoro carbon fishing line? It's been bugging me all day to ask this stupid question...
  3. 7' Daiwa Presso U.L. spinning rod Shimano Symetre 500FJ 2 lb P-Line CXX, main spool 5/1 lb Power Pro, second spool Now I have to find the time to try this setup out
  4. I have a couple packs of Berkley Havoc 3" Sick Fish and 3" Grass Pig. Just thinking if I use Owner 1/8 oz darter head, would the swimmies swim. I have an umbrella 3 rig and I think those would look great swimming in the water, but it's all a concept in my mind. what do you think?
  5. like filing the lower lip or change out treble and feathered treble? What trebles do you use? And how far down do you file the lower lip on you Pop R?
  6. so of they are repo's, thr big o's, i guess i could use them to fish? or should i sit tight a bit longer see if they may be worth something later?
  7. 3/8 oz Outkast with a Havoc Subwoofer, pearl white
  8. Never thought a little lake, more like a pond would hold a big bass! I was casting a white swim jig, I made a cast, lure hits the water and less than a couple seconds I thought I snagged a stump. Felt movement on the line and set the hook...it felt heavy. After a few seconds of fighting this bass it jumps out of the water....didn't know there were people behind me seeing it all go down. I was astonished when I landed this bass, I'm guessing 5-6 lbs. Wow, that was a few seconds of too much fun! I think what happened is the swim jig landed on top of the bass, I must have thumped the bass on the head and ticked him off to bite...well that's the fishing story I'm sticking with! I should add, personal best in So Calif
  9. I see that they have new Ethos b/c rods. A 6'10" MH rod is the oneI want. It's split grip, 11 Fuji micro guides, IM8 blank, new SK2 reel....for $80. How can Academy offer a rod like that for that price? Closest rod with similar components except for the blank is the new Quantum EXO baitcast rod,but that retails for $180. I want this rod, but I could wait till it goes on sale...I hope next month, Presidents sale. I was thinking of getting the *** 13 rod from TW, but this new Academy rod seems to be the better deal and better components. Theres no Academy Sports close to me, so when the times right to buy, I'll just have to take my chances. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_726253_-1__?N=101394130+4294966997
  10. I bought the Revo SL this past weekend. I've read the reviews and read all the praises of this reel. But is it me or is the reel handle seem short? I compared it to my Curado/Citica/ Revo 1st gen/Daiwas, and it is a shorter handle. Is this a disadvantage or is this normal? Any chance a longer handle could be ordered from Abu Garcia? Also, I've mounted the Revo S-L on a few different rods I own. I have to say that the main, big gear sits low. What I mean is the reel feels a bit uncomfortable holding on some of the reel seats. Weird, cuz I haven't felt this on any other baitcast reels I own.
  11. I have a Daiwa Sol and a Shimano Chronarch 50 MG, light reels. Both have 30lb(8lb) braid spooled. Could I use 6lb P-Line on these reels for finesse and drop shot apps? Whats the lightest mono line would you use on these 2 reels?
  12. I bought this yesterday to see what this umbrella rig is all about. It's the least expensive and small enough to throw on a spinning or baitcast rig. I bent the wires as per the package says...but it sometimes slow spins in the the water. Is this normal for this rig or for that matter all umbrella rig? Any of you own the Tripod and have this happen? How do I go abouts the rig from not slow spinning on the retrieve?
  13. I just bought the reel this afternoon. I'm a bit confused on the braking system. I have the orginal Revo S-L and the braking system is similar to Shimano's Centrifugal braking. The 3rd Gen reel is different. I see that there are 3 brake blocks that says pitch and 3 with no writing. So, how do you have your brakes set up? On my Shimano's and the Revo S I have, I have 2 brakes on and sometimes 3. Do I do the same with the 3rd Gen Revo S? Do I set 2 brakes on if that's what I want or do I need to set 3 on, and if it's 3 brakes, which ones? Thanks
  14. I received the 2013 cabelas fishing catalog yesterday. I hafta say it's so much better than the BPS master catalog. I spent a good long while perusing the pages and they carry more reels and rods than BPS. I never thought Cabelas would out do BPS.
  15. I READ THAT THE BRAKE DRUM NEEDS TO BE OILED? WOULDN'T THAT NEGATE THE BRAKING EFFECT?
  16. very fair? What would be a fair price if you selling it?
  17. I have this rod and rarely use it. The rod shaft, guides and trigger are 9.5/10 and the cork grips are 8.5/10. I was thinking of selling to my friend for $150, is this a fair price?
  18. I've read the reviews on TW and BPS, just want to hear what you guys think who own one.
  19. Got the 2013 BPS master catalog a few days ago. I like to spend a good hour or two to look at and enjoy the new BPS catalog. What I can say is...the stuff inside looks like the 2012 catalog....but minus important specs of rods, reels and lures. Now BPS wants you to go to the website to get pertinent information that has always been available in previous catalogs. There really wasn't anything in the new master catalog that made me say WOW, I want/need that....in a nutshell quite boring and has less information that I really need.
  20. i have a mh rod rated at 3/8-1 1/2 oz, should that suffice?
  21. Thank you for that info! I saw a video on youtube and the guy was saying the bluegill swimbait was around 4 oz. I didn't think that was the case. Thanks again! Ghost
  22. I bought 9 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" jointed swimabaits. Their webite fails to list the lures weights, any of you know the weights?
  23. Any of you guys use these swmbaits? Any good? Is one model better than the others or are they all any good?
  24. Are there baitcast rods with low reel seats? I have a Shimano Calcutta 101TE and it sits a tad high compared to a low profile reel, I knew this before buying the reel, it's that the 101TE is a work of functional art. I know the Daiwa S rod and Light and Tough have low reel seats, I'm looking for other options.
