SCORE! Abu Garcia Vendetta Rod From Tacklewarehouse
This is a really great deal I just ordered from TW...okay the 6'9" MH Vendetta rod will not be at TW till 9/16...but right now I don't care...sort of. Here's the deal, I still had my email newsletter from TW back from ICAST 2009 & it had a 10% discount on orders when you clicked on it. I did that & put the Vendetta rod in my buy bin & the link went to the next part...well I got the 10% but they also added another 15% for the Labor Day sale...so I got 25% on the rod to a total plus free shipping of $59.96!!!!

2009 Quantum Tour Edition B/C Reel
I'm looking to buying one this Monday from Cabelas, I had to get one ordered & sent to the store. I haven't paid for it yet but I need to know if this reel is worth the $260 asking price. I have the 2009 Quantum Catalyst b/c reel & it's a very good reel compared to last years Quantums, which I have the Energy. I already have a 2009 Curado, Citica, Zillion, Sol & Fuego, just wanted to see if the 2009 Tour Edition is all that.

Ordered A 2009 Kistler Helium LTA...
the other day, 6'9" MH LTA. I got on the Kistler forum & asked if the tip is faster than previous 6'9" MH LTA models, like last year & year before. The man himself said that the tip is much faster than previous years, so I'm hoping that's the case. I really like the look (even though I've not seen one or tried one in person) w/ the split grip. The tips on the previous year & year before LTA's on the 6'9" MH was kinda whippy, so I'm hoping that this years model is a bit more stiffer. Only gripe I have is they went from the zirconium guides to Fuji Sic guides. I liked the zirconium guides but Sic guides are very nice indeed. So any of you have any experience w/ the 2009 LTA, especiallly the 6'9" MH? Is the tip faster as the man mentioned?

Checked Out The St Croix Mojo & LTB Rods Today &....
Whoa, I'm just pointing out that the Mojo's I've seen were of newer makes. I've heard that Mojos were U.S. made till the plant in Mexico started making them. I was surprised to see that the newer Mojo's were made in Mexico, I was in the thought that that plant wasn't going to get making rods till closer to the end of the year, to see that it's in operation now surprised me some. That's all I'm saying here, not saying anything if since it's made in Mexico that it's inferior or anything. If Cabelas didn't have that 1 7' MH LTB, I probably would have gotten the 7' MH Mojo. But as I said the LTB felt lighter & just a bit more sensitive than the Mojo.

Quietest Braid?
So who makes the quietest braid? I have a Carrot Stix Gold 6'10" MH, I like this rod for crankbaits. I tried using 10 lb P-line on a Daiwa Sol but didn't like the stretch & the soft tip together. I tried using Power Pro & Sufix 30/8 braid & those make some noise going through those TiCH guides. So is Spiderwire Stealth or Fireline or what is not quite as noisey?

2009 Kistler Helium LTA Conundrum
I'm looking to getting either the 6'9" MH or the 7' MH LTA but wondering if the 6'9" MH has a softer tip than the 7' MH. I prefer the 6'9" length but would like a stiffer tip than the 6'10" MH AJ Magnesium that I have. I know how the tip is on the 2008 6'9" MH LTA, is it the same softer tip on the 2009 model?

Checked Out The St Croix Mojo & LTB Rods Today &....
I guess these are the new shipments of the Mojo rods that the closest Cabelas store has. They've been selling them fast & was about to get the 7' MH Spinnerbait b/c rod when I looked on the bottom & saw a "Made In Mexico" sticker. I guess the new St Croix Mexican plant is now in operation. I was quite surpised to see this sticker, I thought at least till the end of the year any Mojo's would still be made in the U.S. Really wanted that 7' MH Mojo but then noticed that Cabelas had 1 LTB 7' Sweeper Spinnerbait. I know it's alot more but I compared it to the Mojo of the same specs & the LTB was noticebly lighter & more sensitive. I ended up getting the 7' MH LTB but was really up in the air that the first guide by the reel seat, it was "just" a hair off to the right from being totally aligned w/ the other guides. But the blank was string straight & that was more important. All the other guides were in line, so I got a very semi spiral wrapped 7' MH LTB.... The didn't have any 7' M Teaser LTB but I already have a rod that is very similar to that rod, I have the 7' M Daiwa Procyon w/ split grip handle. I know it's not in the same league as the LTB but pretty close to the Mojo. I tried it out when I got home & it casts jigs, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, frogs, Senkos & heavier topwater lures nicely. The tip is stiffer than the 7' M Teaser LTB but just enough give to launch the Spro Popping Frog easily. Then again I had my left hand Zillion 7.1:1 b/c reel mounted on the LTB. Using jigs & worms it is very sensitive, had no problems feeling the bottom. I didn't catch any bass w/ the LTB today, had a couple hits that I knew were hits. Then again my track record for using new equipment the first time seems to never land me any fish. There will be a next time for sure!

Lunker City texposer hooks
Good hooks, bought some last year & have used them quite a few times. I prefer to use them as weightless Senko hooks in 5/0 & so on. For that price it's a great deal.

Drop Shot Hook-Up Or Down?
I've always fished w/ my drop shot hook pointing up, but saw a fishing show where the guy was ds'ing & his hook point was down. I've not done it this way, is the hook ups better w/ the hook point down?

Casting Jigs-How Far Do You Cast Them?
I've been shore fishing quite a bit since the weather around here isn't all that great to get a small boat out. So I've been refining my jig feel since the crankbait & topwater bites have been way off. I'm getting the feel back on what a jig bite feels like but I've been casting a long ways to get any bites. I'm not pitching to any cover since there really no bass to be seen shallow. I'm getting hits on the fall & dragging it on the bottom & I'm going as deep as 20'. But I'm missing hook sets either due to I am casting so far or more likely a bluegill or smaller bass is playing w/ the jig. lastly, I'm using from either 30-50 lb braid so I can feel everything on the bottom & am thinking that I shouldn't be missing any hits on hook sets. I'm using MH rods so I know I have enough power to set the hooks. Hooks on the jigs are way sharp.... So am I just casting too far to get a proper hookset?

I Need A Stiffer Rod...
Well that's what I told a buddy of mine while fishing...& he just laughed at me...& still does...then I realized what I said! What I'm talking about is I have a Gold Carrot Stix 6'9" MH. I used it today jig fishing & lets just say that I now understand (even though the E21 rep I talked said it can be used for jig fishing) this rod is not meant for jigs. Maybe in a pinch you can use Senkos w/ it. The action on this rod is more like a crankbait rod, found out the hard way today. I thought I hooked into a bass, felt the line jump & take off; I set the hook & the Gold Carrot Stix just did about a parabolic bend...like the line was almost wrapped around me. That's when I made the comment to my buddy that I needed a stiffer rod...not thinking what I'm saying till he busts laughing & pretty much tells me that he can't fish no more cuz he can't stop laughing. So....I now have that 6'9" MH Gold Carrot Stix & a 6'9" LTX parabolic baitcast rods. IMO they seem to be very similar so I don't need both. Should I get rid of one of them if so which of the 2? I'm thinking of keeping the Gold Carrot Stix since in a pinch I can still throw a worm w/ it. While the LTX is pretty much a cranking rod. Guess that's the hard way of finding you have a rod that's not stiff enough for most applications when you buy it on ebay & not really finding out if it's what you really want. E21 says that w/ the new Gold Carrot Stix, the rods suppose to get stiffer in feel when fighting a fish...I guess if you don't use jigs!

St. Croix Triumph vs. Premeir
Premier made in the U.S.A & has a lifetime warranty through St Croix. Triumph same blank & I guess guides as the Premier but made in China & has a 1 or 5 year warranty (you'll have to contact St Croix or look at their website for that info). I've heard from other that the Triumph is all the same as the Premier but other have had problems w/ guides coming off. I had a 7' M Premier spinning rod & did not like the reel seat. It would loosen after so many casts, I think the Triumph reel seat does the same but not sure. I returned the Premier & bought a Mojo 6'8" wacky rod. I prefer the split grip & there is still some issue w/ the reel seat loosening but have fixed that by tightening the reel seat screw till it doesn't loosen. It will sometimes loosen depending on which spinning reel I use. Use the Triumph rod you have & later on upgrade to the Mojo...much better rod & till St Croix gets its new mfg'ing building done in Mexico, the Mojo's are at this time made in the U.S.A. Or if you can return the rod get the Premier or if your store has it the Mojo. Costs a little less than the Premier.

Carrot Stix Gold Classic Boyd Duckett B/C Rod
Who here owns this rod? I'm just wondering what baitcast reel you are using w/ your Gold Classic. I have the 6'9" MH & I'm having a problem matching a reel to this rod. I've tried a Daiwa Zillion, Shimano Chronarch 101B, Daiwa Fuego, Shimano Curado, Citica 201E, 2009 Quantum Catalyst, 2008 Quantum Energy & 2009 BPS Pro Qualifier. The handle where the reel sits on just feels like it's just big & the reel is sitting high. Do you experience this also? I also have a Daiwa Sol & that actually feels the best from the reels mention, but the Curado & Citica feel good on this rod. So what reel are you using on your Gold Classic Boyd Duckett & how do you like the way it handles?

berkley lightning rod shock
Got the 7'6" M spinning rod. Very good rod but a bit heavy, but I don't mind. It's stated to use braid but it has line rating for mono also. Sensitivity, any rod you use w/ braid will make it that much more sensitive. So for the most part yes it has good sensitivity.

Shimano Chronarch 101BSV vs Curado 201E7?
Got the Chronarch 101B about 3 months ago for $199.99 at BPS on closeout. A month or so later I was at the BPS store & noticed the price dropped another $30, so I brought my receipt to them & they gave me in store credit that amount...not bad! I have both the reels you're asking about & both are very nice.

St Croix LTB Help
I've been wanting a 2009 Kistler Helium LTA 6'9" MH baitcast rod for general use but I have credit w/ Cabelas. I ordered one & it came it this past weekend. I drove a couple hours to the Cabelas store to find out that they shipped a 2008 Helium LTA. I talked to Cabelas cs & they won't be getting in any 2009 LTA till mid July. They have pics of the 2009 LTA on their catalog & website but they are still shipping out 2008 models! So I still want a U.S.A. made rod & want split grip, Loomis doesn't have a rod like that unless it's custom. I know that Cabelas carries the St Croix LTB & would like to know which of there LTB would be similar to the Helium LTA 6'9" MH. I would think the 7' spinnerbait would be the closest but what is the Teaser model? Just wish that St Croix has a 6'9" MH baitcast rod in the LTB, I really like that length it seems that it's perfect for most applications. I don't care for a 6'6' MH rod cuz I think it's just a bit too stiff for most applications.

need a inexpensive replacement rod and fast!!!
If you still have the receipt for the rod combo from BPS, bring that & the broken rod in to them. They may replace the rod or give you credit for another brand...it won't hurt to try. I've seen a few broken BPS rods at the customer service counter & the cs person tells them to go & get another rod of equal value. Or if you don't have the receipt bring the rod to them & tell them what happened. It's a BPS rod so technically they should replace it free of charge...in store.

Cabelas Prodigy Or Abu Garica 500ALBi Spinning Reel
Thanks Micro. I ended up getting the Prodigy 2000 spinning reel. I looked at the 500ALBi & it was a very nice reel but the 502ALBI was just a bit "big" for what I wanted & too much line capacity. The Prodigy 2000 is the right size I was looking for w/ the line capacity, also it's very smooth. I was able to get the reel for $50 so that's a much better deal! Thanks for your help!

Looking for a purple rod...
BRR, I have a St Croix Mojo, 6'8" M wacky rig spinning rod. The rod color is purple, I would think that it would match your Alpha. Do you have a Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops close by? They carry the Mojo's in store.

Cabelas Prodigy Or Abu Garica 500ALBi Spinning Reel
The Prodigy spinning reel is on sale right now & the 500ALBi is $10 more. I'm looking to buying either one just wanted to get some feed back on both or either of these spinning reels. The Bass Pro Shops somewhat close to me now has the 500ALBi & it is a very nice reel, I couldn't tell the difference from that to the Soron. So if you had to purchase either of these 2 spinning reels, which one would you get? I'm not interested in Shimano, I already have Symetres & Saharas.

Mouse bait. I liked it so much, I bought the company
That's the Mann's mouse w/ the treble hook. Casts real well & the body is soft so it easy to get compressed when bit. Local Walmart & a local fishing store carries the Mann's mouse. Snagproof also makes a mouse/rat lure w/ a soft body but w/ dual hook that are like on frog lures of the type. I really like these mouse/rat better than the Mann's moust but I don't like the cheap dual hook it comes with. I have to sharpen the hooks out of the package...besides that I catch bass w/ the Snagproof mouse/rat(small version is the mouse, the larger version is the rat).

Color that Hi-Vis
A bit harsh there sweet daddy, the guy is just trying to get an answer not get insulted. To answer your question properly, I color my braided lines w/ a black Sharpie marker; especially after it fades from the original color. The smell eventually wears off after a few casts. I've caught numerous bass & other fish w/ my braided line re-colored so I guess the fish don't care...then again I chew Grizzly mint tobacco & get that on the line & lure & have caught fish. Makes me wonder if the fish around my area don't mind mint. I used yellow braid before & colored the end w/ a black Sharpie. Keep in mind that the black will bleed onto the non colored yellow line, but that's only so many feet of it but you can still see the yellow where it counts. I color about 6-10' w/ the black Sharpie. Get the Sharpie w/ the wide tip & slice down the middle of it. You can then run your braided line through that & makes the job easier.
