My new crankin' reel
Cabelas has the 4.9:1 Zillion, check their catalog or online. That's sumthin' I'll get really thinking on when I can get a $30 coupon from Cabelas. Wish Shimano had a lower gear ratio in the new lineup for us leftys. I'm waiting for ICAST this summer to see if Shimano "may" have a lower gear ratio for us leftys...

Baitcasting set up for light weights, is it even necessary
Daiwa Sol b/c reel w/ your choice of ML b/c rod w/ 8 or 10 lb mono. Falcon Lowrider as a 6'6' ML b/c rod that would be a perfect match w/ the Sol. Or a 6'6' Shimano Crucial drop shot rod would work too. If you wanted to match w/ the Shimano then the Chronrach MG50 w/ same lb test mentioned.

Comment on Mojo Bass rod
Bought the 6'8" Wacky spinning rod, paired w/ a Shimano Saros 3000 & used it yesterday. It has very good sensitivity & did well w/ cranks & lipless cranks up to 5/8 oz. I like the look & the issue w/ the seat screw unscrewing, I didn't have that problem. I just torqued the seat clamp down & had no issues of it coming loose. I guess the reel has to settle inside the seat clamps for a while & a little force to keep it there helped. I see also using this rod for drop shotting, it has so many possibilities than wacky rigging. The cork up front is small enough that you can move your index finger on the blank for more feel, can't do that w/ the Premier spinning rods! I gotta say that this is a very good buy for a split grip, American made rod...till St Croix finishes building the plant to make these & I think the Triumph in Mexico. The Mojo's made now are U.S. made, the ones later this year or next year will not be.

2009 Daiwa Fuego-A Spinning Reel
Zaion, is this the same material???: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwazillionrod.html Scroll down till you see the pic w/ the caption "reel seat unlike any other" & read what is says on top. This is the Daiwa Zillion b/c rod. I also thought that Zaion was some type of carbon composite after reading about the reel seat on the Zillion. Now, it is lighter & all but graphite framed reels I recall are made for lower end reels, right? Is this new Zaion a better thing than previous composite framed reels? The more I think about it, the Zaion used in the Fuego spinning reel & the Zillion reel seat has to be the same material. I'd rather then get lasts years Fuego, since it's an aluminum frame & a bit cheaper.

BPS Pro Qualifier?
Thanks westpalmfrog for your input. I'm looking to getting both gear ratios during the spring classic early next month. FINALLY BPS comes out w/ left hand version of the Pro Qualifier b/c reel & I've had a chance to check them out & like what I've seen. I was thinking of getting a Citica 201E but instead I'm going to get 2 of the PQ's when they go on sale. I'll have 2 different gear ratios instead of 1 Citica at 1 gear ratio. I have the Curado 201E already so the PQ's will be the next purchases.

new rick clunn baitcaster
Didn't care for the new Clunn b/c reel, it's at bit heavy & cost a little more than the Pro Qualifier. Now that's a nice reel, I'll be getting both speeds during the Spring Classic.

Curado E vs Chronarch B
I agree w/ Raul...but I own both. Got the 201E7 a few months ago & bought the Chronarch 101B a couple weeks ago when BPS finally clearanced them out. The weight on the Chronarch B isn't that bad, it balances out well on most of the rods I have & most of the rods are 6'9" & longer. Also the color matches better w/ these rods. Also I like the look of the Chronarch B than the new D model. That's a tough call, you'll have to handle both to see which you like best.

Berkley® Lightning Rod® Shock
I saw them at Bass Pro Shops when I was there last time, almost bought one. Held off cuz I'm getting a Kistler Magnesium 6'10 MH spinning rod instead. The tips are soft, so as it's claimed made for braided line. I guess you can use it w/ mono, but w/ the soft tip & no stretch braid; it won't pull the hook out of the fish's mouth. I am thinking I may go back & get the 7'6" ML spinning rod. The b/c rod that I was going to get, I held off cuz of the trigger on the reel seat. It curves in a weird way, that it feels different from a Fuji trigger on the reel seat. You'll have to handle one to know what I'm talking about.

Walmart Fishing Lures On Clearance
Most of this stuff I wouldn't have bought even if I've seen them on the shelves cuz how much they really are, but at $0.75-2.50 ea; what fisherman in their right mind would pass up deals like this???

Walmart Fishing Lures On Clearance
NONE OF THESE WERE OVER $2.50, SCOUTS HONOR!!!! That's what I NEED to tell the wife! And to think the wife sent me there to buy milk...Gotta MAN UP & tell her that I "spent" a "little" more than groceries...this is going to be a little "uncomfortable"...I "hope" she understands that all these lures were over half off...oh this is going to be "uncomfortable"...I don't believe in the bait monkey, I own up to bad judgement & walking inside Walmart when they have fishing stuff on clearance!

Quantum Superlight Rods
I may be referring this post to the Natural, since I know he owns a few of them. But for other that own this rod, how is it compared to the Cumara & Zillion rods. I have the 6'8" m, ef Cumara & 6'9" MH Zillion, I'm looking to getting the 6'9" MH Quantum Superlight. Does this rod compare to either of the other 2 in sensitivity & action? How about how light the rod is compared to the other 2? Thanks

Sweet sassy molassy! Shimano cures all disease!
Shimano needs to have a swept handle & star drag to keep it up to date.

Rod Builders, I Need Help/Advice
[img width=350 height=262]http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/537/rogue2.jpg I've been thinking of selling this Rogue Rod & have it listed on a few sites for sale. But I've been thinking I like this baitcast rod, but I'd like to get it more up to date w/ a split grip handle, eva grips, a hook keeper like the ones on Kistler rods & zirconia guides. The cork in front of the reel seat I would like to get it to have either no fore grip or a small fore grip like on Shimano Cumara rods. I want to keep the same rod length also, don't want it any shorter or longer. Is it possible to send this rod to a rod builder to redo this rod w/ what I want? If so, roughly what am I looking at to get it done? I have no idea on how to take on a challenge like that, I'd prefer to send it to someone who knows what they are doing. Can you recommend a rod builder if this can be done? Thanks

Okuma C3 Rods
Here's the specs on the Okuma C3 rods: http://www.okumafishingteam.com/RODS/conventional/C3.html Compared to the Carrot Stix LTX, I like the guides on the C3 & the carbon split handle. I just don't like the lengths, but thats me being picky.

St. Croix Mojo's Are Made In The U.S.A.!!!
I can concur on the seat slipping on the spinning rod, on the Mojo & Premier. It has to do w/ how the seat screws in the back instead of the front. I had a 7' Premier spinning last year & it was driving me crazy it would unscrew. I brought it back cuz & got another 7' rod. The Mojo does it too but not as bad, I just have to really tighten down. I wrapped electrical tape under the reel seat screw so when it did start to loosen it would catch that & stay snug. But then again I have not had a chance to take the Mojo spinning to the water & fish w/ it.

Shimano Chronarch B - Making A Decision
I know the new 2009 Chronarchs are coming out, but I don't like them. I prefer the B series & so....I am trying to decide either the B or BSV for an all around reel. I won't be using the Chronarch for saltwater fishing, it will be freshwater. And it will be a part-time pike/musky reel. With that info should I get the B or BSV? The B is standard but the BSV has a deeper spool & a longer handle. I could buy a B spool if I want a shallower spool. But the BSV is slightly heavier, I guess due to the longer handle & deeper spool. Which way would you decide, I just need some ideas.

St. Croix Mojo's Are Made In The U.S.A.!!!
You read that right! Read this from another site that the Mojo's are made in the U.S. for now. St Croix still building the plant to make the Mojo's in Mexico, so the Mojo rods right now are U.S. made. If that's the case, than $100 for a Mojo rod which is a redesigned Premier is a great deal for an American made split-grip rod! I picked up the 6'8" wacky spinning rod a couple weeks ago.

Killer deal on Daiwa Fuego baitcasters, only a few left
Check your local Cabelas store, I bought mine for $160 a few weeks ago. I bought the left hand version!

New Quantum Spinning Reels
I'll be buying the Energy 30 PTi-B during the Spring Classic. That will be a real nice match to the Energy PT b/c reel from last year. I like the Quantum spinning reels of this year, a bit lighter & smoother. Also comes w/ a spare spool...unlike Shimano. > That new Tour Edition b/c reel sure is calling my name.... Hey ChiCity, I have friends that live up by Grays Lake & Gurnee Mills. Will be visiting them in the Spring time. Have you fished up there & do you have any suggestions on places to fish?
-
WTB-Quantum B/C Spool Last Years Model
Nah, just want the spare spool for 50 lb braid for light pike/musky fishing, I have 12 lb P-line CXX on.
-
WTB-Quantum B/C Spool Last Years Model
Either the Tour Edition or Energy PT b/c reel spool, I'm taking a shot in the dark if anyone has one for sale.
