Finally Found Some Confidence With The Scatter Rap
The Scatter Rap Shallow runs and casts the best from the other Scatter Rap models. I find though that the shallow for me runs from 2-4 feet and that's using 30-40 lb braid. I've been hammering the bass on the Scatter Rap Shallow. I haven't tried the jerk bait method, will try that this weekend. Here's some pics of recent catches:

So What's The Advantage Of The Tatula Type R Over The Tatula?
Not married.....hehehehe....now if I can find a place where more women fish than fish smelling guys....then I may be swayed towards the Type R.

So What's The Advantage Of The Tatula Type R Over The Tatula?
Should I save the $50 or not is what I'm wondering about? Or is the Type R that much better of the reel than the Tatula?

I Promise Not To Buy Anymore Lures. ..
Till my next paycheck. Actually, I have more lures that I've used a handful of times to last me 3 lifetimes of fishing. It's so much fun finding out if a particular lure will work, run as expected and catch fish...75% of the lures I have has not caught a bass...yeah, I'm a sucker for new lures and the fishing industry has caught me hook, line and sinker! So...Anyone have used or have an opinions on the Megabass X-Pod Jr???

All The Visual Details On Top Of A Frog Or Topwater Lure. ..
But little or no detail onthe bottom. So the top of the lures attention to detail to "catch" the fisherman? Looking at the bottom of most topwater lures is just mostly solid colors of white, black, orange, chartreuse, etc. With some with a stripe or added simulated blood trail. So how does a bass or fish know or see the detail of a topwater lure on top? They don't right? It's just the silhouette or movement of that topwater lure that catches the attention of the fish? Unless the water is crystal clear and the day is bright, sunny, most times there's a haze in the water that a fish really doesn't see if what's on top making a silhouette or movement is really a real frog? So the visual detail on top of the lure is a marketing gimmick to catch and reel in the fisherman to buy that lure, right? I'm just trying to understand the marketing aspect of lure mfg's.

Lunker Hunt Frog...any Users?
Interesting surprise, was at Walmart and of course had to go to the measley fishing section. To my surprise next to the KVD frog, is the Lunker Hunt Lunker frog 1/2 oz, one color choice; green tea. Walmart price, $7.96. So I bought one for curiosity sake. I tried it out in the pool and well...I don't think I'm all that impressed. Leg action is good, it does take water like a regular hollow frog. But it sure doesn't act like it does on the TW product video. So those who own this, has the legs held up after some fish caught? I guess that's my concern, after spending almost $8, I want it to last long like a Spro or Snag Proof frog. Also, what is your review of this frog?

Fishusa, Have You Ordered From Them?
I jumped the gun and placed an order before I asked for opinions, so I guess better late than not knowing. Have you ordered from them and how was the experience? Their prices are good, free shipping after $30 and sales tax since I'm out of state.

Tatula Baitcast Reel And Braid
Cool, thanks for the reply. How does the Tatula compare to other Daiwa reels? Like the Zillion?

Tatula Baitcast Reel And Braid
Might be getting a Tatula and just wondering from those who own this reel if braided line can be used with the new TWS. Does the line shoot out with no problem and does the line reel in and lay on the spool good? I mostly use braid from 30-40 lbs and I'm just concerned that the TWS will have some issues using braided line.

Havoc Sic Fish On A Chatterbait?
Thanks guys! I've tried the lake fork ones and work good. I however have a few sick fish and wanted another option to using them. I'm also gonna try on a chatter bait a Havoc devils spear. Curious how well that would work.

Lobina Rico Final Scores A Bass!
Hmm, didn't think of it that way. I was under the impression of working it like a Rebel Pop'R. I'll try the method you mentioned, thank you

Lobina Rico Final Scores A Bass!
Same bass, different shot I've used the Rico on numerous occassions especially during summer and have not caught a fish with it. I was wondering what all the hype was of this expensive popper. This past Saturday changed all that. Casted close to side and a few pops and a huge water explosion! I could tell it was a good sized bass, I also had to adjust the drag cuz the bass was peeling line. What a great way to start 7am on a Saturday! This was a big bass prior to the bigger one on the Rapala Scatter Rap Shallow Now the Lobina Rico will be in the lineup for the rest of the year, nice loud pops and rattles and can walk the dog good.

I'm A Belieber In Scatter Raps (Shallow Model)
So far I've been impressed with the Scatter Rap Shallow (SRS), caught this bass on 4/12/14 in the morning. I'm guessing this female spawned not too long ago cuz her belly was a bit thin. I'm also guessing this bass weighs around 5/6/7/8 lbs...not too sure cuz I didn't have a scale, probably more like 6 or 7 lbs. Compare how big she is to the rod and reel, she's pretty big and pulled hard and jumped! I ran the SRS and I felt something, when I got the lure back to me I snagged a big carp cuz the scale on one of the hooks was huge. So next cast, same area I get a hit about 15' from me. At first I thought it was the same carp...but then the fish started pulling and it felt very different. I'm thinking, cool a bass. LIttle did I know till I saw her jump out of the water that it was a big bass and the SRS was way inside her mouth, as seen in the pic. I knew righty then that this bass was not going to throw the hooks cuz both trebles were inside her mouth. I imagine I can put my fist inside this bass' mouth...I didn't, not cool! Just before I released the bass, I had a Jimmy Houston moment...I gave her some "sugar" and said thank you for letting me fool her with the SRS and putting up a great song and dance routine. She actually kissed better than some of my ex-girlfriends...just kidding! I own the Scatter Rap Shad, Countdown and Crank and now a few colors of the Shallow Crank. The action of the Shallow crank is the best for my fishing situations and I can retrieve a bit faster and the SRS will not do barrel rolls as easily as the regular Scatter Rap Crank. Also the SRS casts much better on baitcast gear than the other Scatter Rap models...this I like! So far, I've caught bass on the Old School(that's the color I used to catch that girl), Bluegill, Firetiger and Hot Mustard colors. I'd like to eventually get the Bruised and Girlfriend colors, I think those are cool colors. Those 2 new colors will catch the Fisherman(me), and hopefully they will catch bass Too! I know there have been many mixed reviews of the Scatter Rap models, but do try the Scatter Rap Shallow, the action is spot on this lure.

Strike King Kvd Jerkbaits And A Feathered Rear Treble
I bought one of these, 3/8 oz, crystal shad. I'm thinking of adding a feathered rear treble, doing this shouldn't throw off the action of the lure, should it? The stock hooks are a bit on the thin side and I'm thinking of switching out to Owner ST-36 black nickel, size 4 with same hook in a feathered treble for the rear hook. I normally use X-Raps and I like how those jerkbaits work, but the crystal shad color, it has specks of glitter that catches light, looked to me like it would catch bass. And I've not tried a Strike King KVD jerkbait before.

Okuma Concept C3-40x Casting Rod, the one I have is 7', 1/4-1 oz. It's a very good rod, quite sensitive. It's stiffer than most MH rods with lure weight rating. I

Rapala Scatter Rap Shallow Review
Bought 4 of the Scatter Rap Crank Shallow and used the bluegill color. Third cast past weeds on top of the water, cranked down and felt a fish hit the SRS. Not the biggest bass but the lure worked to fool the bass to hit it. Definitely not the usual crankbait in so far as the action of the lure and the bill so far has not broken off after smacking it in the water to dislodge weeds on the hooks. I own the Scatter Rap Shad, Crank and Countdown models. I haven't caught a bass on any of these Scatter Rap lures. I've had reservations about these lures, the action is unique and interesting, with the SR Crank you have to find that sweet spot retrieve or it starts going in circles on a fast retrieve. The SR Shad is too light to cast on baitcast gear, but the action is good up to a medium retrieve. The SR Countdown cast good with a baitcaster and good action. The SR Shallow retrieves good up to a medium fast retrieve and doesn't lose track and go in circles like the SR Crank does. It dives up to 3' using 30/8 lb Power Pro braid. The SR Shallow tracks good and shoots off side to side on the retrieve. One thing I notice when retrieving the lure is it has a light feel through the line to the rod. Not what I'm used to comparing it to other Scatter Rap models which you can feel the action to the rod. I like the color options on the SR Shallow and wanting to get the Bruised color because I think it's interesting, unfortunately Bass Pro Shops doesn't have this color available. The SR Shallow is the perfect Scatter Rap from the other SR models. It dives to the right depths that I need, it scatters and tracks good, quality VMC treble hooks, durable paint and doesn't need too much tweaking to make it run straight. I hope Rapala comes out with the SR shallow bill on the other models of Scatter Rap. The action is good that the bass haven't seen that much...yet. I'm still on the fence if it's any better than other crank bait models
