Beat the Elites
Like it has been said they are used to fishing water with other tournaments going on. Many times very large tournaments. I don't see this other tournament as a huge detriment, but I do believe they have crossed the line (at least my line) with how they are promoting it. It definitely seems to be below the belt.

WOW!!
WOW is right - talk about sweet setups.

Tackle Shop
I buy quite a bit online because I live in the middle of no where. I do however love the mom and pop shops. Whenever I'm traveling for tourneys I will try to stop and visit with these people. It is just hard to beat that atmosphere.

Pet peave's that shouldn't be
Tribal salmon nets in the Columbia. If it were up to me they would all be shredded. When recreational boats (jet skis...) come blast you on purpose. They just don't realize how close they just came too getting seriously injured. Unnecessary criticism - such as spelling nazi's! (unless it is a critique of a resume or like kind item) When people lie - but especially when they lie about something that doesn't really matter. Other than that I'm a pretty tough guy to get along with. ;D

Tourney tactics question...
This is a super tough decision to make especially when their is substantial money on the line. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can say that it has worked out sometimes and other times it has bit me right in the .... I do believe that the guys that consistently cash on multiple day tournaments do so because they have learned how to make the right "gambles" based upon their ability to manage fish. All that said it is pretty darn hard to leave fish!

Is Ike a little over the top?
He is definitely a super high energy guy with some impulse control issues, but I just love how he still has the fire for the sport. I believe his enthusiasm for bass fishing is why he is one of the top guys out there.

2009 Bass Fishing Goals
1.) My main goal is to become more effective in my pre-fishing. 2.) Become more efficient on tournament days 3.) Better boat organization - Sometimes the boat looks like a bomb has gone off by the end of the day!

Tubes
Tubes are definitely one of my go to baits. My favorite tubes are made by Dry Creek Outfitters and their color I like the most is Buzzard Snot. It's a creative name, but it flat out works. Your best color most likely depends on the color stages of crawdads in your local water.

Lake Shasta Pointers
The low water situation is the pitts. We are having a heck of a winter so I guess I assumed NO CAL was getting it to. It sounds like you need it. Thanks again for the info.

Lake Shasta Pointers
Thanks for the information guys. Do you think they will get any runoff that will raise the water level or do you think they are just using as much as they are getting? Fourbizz, Thanks for the pointers. I'm guessing from what your saying on the spoons it that there will be a lot of suspended fish. Should be a good experience as I'm definitely a rookie as far as spoon fishing goes. Looks like another research topic. Thanks again

Cabelas
Both are good, but I prefer Cabelas as I receive my products much faster and I'm also a big fan of their bargain cave certain times of the year. I have been ordering more and more from Tackle Warehouse over the last year.

Storm Thunderstick - Any Good?
I've had great success with the thundersticks. My favorite being the deep thunderstick jr's. In fact I'm sure my tournament partner is going to throw a dig in here, but for a long time when heading out to fish my dad, (who guides on the Columbia River), would ask to make sure we had our thundersticks. It's a standing joke with us now. There are two generations of thundersticks. Pre Rapala and Post Rapala. The difference being that the pre rapala bill was part of the molded lure and the post is a glue on bill. They both work well but the pre rapala quality is much more consistent. It sounds like your buddy got a good buy

Looking for Spinning Reel Recommendations
Another vote for the Pflueger supreme. I fish mainly river smallmouth (over 800 hours on boat last year), and catch several a year in the six pound class and these reels perform flawlessly. Ignore the price completely and just look at performance and this reel wins hands down. "In my opinion" My tournament partner just converted to the supreme also after seeing how mine have performed. He can now buy 2-3 reels for what he was paying for one before.

How Are You Coping With Winter?
Ouch, talk about salt in the wounds. Do you have a spare room? ;D

How Are You Coping With Winter?
I've been flipping and pitching in the garage every night. Only one broken coffee cup! Other than that, I'm just driving everyone nuts.

my reason for considering a side image...... sound different???
I had a 797 that I recently got rid of. It was an excellent unit but if you are going to get a side imaging unit I would save up for one of the larger ones. It is very hard to read the smaller screens. You can however with practice learn to interpret what you are seeing quite well and I found fish with it. I just found myself always on normal sonar screen because I had to get my face six inches from the screen to read in side imaging view. As far as the reaching out that far to the sides, I had to set mine to about fifty foot to each side to be able to interpret detail. I fish mostly 20'-60' of water if that helps. My two cents!

Is this common?
I fish left handed retrieve on both methods and used to have trouble finding baitcasters that were "lefty's". Now almost all manufacturers make left handed baitcasters and they are readily available online. It is a matter of comfort, I've been doing it so long that if I pick up my buddies right hand retrieve, I can't even operate the darn thing. FYI - Left handed baitcasters come up on internet auctions sites for very cheap quite often.

CA, OR or Washington at the end os March-1st. of April?
WCCT is right about Ten Mile, He and I fished it together last year and it is a largemouth paradise. We only had one day on it, but I would love to go spend a week or two. I think the one day tournament weight to win was nearly 22 lbs and it was snowing, hailing and the wind was not kind either. You know it's a heck of a lake when you can't wait to go back after severe weather. Also, the locals were very friendly and helpful.

Lake Shasta Pointers
Hey Guys, I'm heading down to Lake Shasta in February for some fishing and am trying to learn more about the lake. I've never fished for spots and am excited to do so. From what I've researched it looks like deep water fishing (dropshot, spoon, etc..) that time of year. I just got a contour map and it is a big bugger. Any tips or information would be appreciated. Thanks!

better show: flw or bass elite series
BASS does have a better show up to this point. I also have heard that FLW is going to be improving its productions from one of their tournament directors. I have fished both and FLW is definitely more angler oriented and I believe as far as skill goes it is a toss up. I am curious to see how dropping co-anglers will change the overall weights caught by the pros in BASS. They won't be sharing their fish!
