  1. thats the oxbow. theres some pigs in there too. if you go to the millyard entrance of mines falls youl see a path to the right to access it. weve also had some luck fishing the canal there.
  2. nope. i got my mass liscence this year. now....if i could just stop spinnerbaiting... its open now. we slid our boat under the chain last year durring the weed kill but it wasnt as good. ide say its about equall to robinson right now. its got a little of everything in there. the only place to fish from the shore at otternic is from the ramp. i dont think it would be worth the trip. never fished little otternic. how do access it?
  3. this is one of my favorite local spots too. if it makes you feel any beter, the fishing at otternic pond in hudson has improved quite a bit since they did the chemical treatment last year. i hope they dont mess this up.
  4. o.k. hopkinton sounds good. wich launch will we be meeting at?
  5. you can lug a canue or cartoper down to lovewell. one time me, my wife and my daughter caught 50 crappie in less than 2 hours. my wife caught a pickeral there last year. heres some crappie pics ive taken their;
  6. looks like ill be taking my lil' 10' jonboat since i can not get a definitive answere from my niebor about getting him to go in his boat. my "big motor" is a 2.2hp merc, but ive been to lake massabesic and the merrimack river in it so im not afraid of big water as long as theres no chop. not sure what you guys are running but im sure ill be hugging the shore if the water is ruff. would anyone be oppossed to fishing the piscateqog river or glen lake? ultimately ill fish whatever the group decides.
  7. the biggest turn off for me is the unidentifiable stuff floating in the water. its pretty gross. ive never done really well there but i did catch my pb there. i know you kick *** there in the summer. the fish in the picture below were caught there and my wife caught hers for the shore!!! you can take a small boat all the way to the mill yard from mill pond. there are several places you can put in along the way too if you dont mind carrying your boat a bit. one spot of particular interest to me that i havent fished yet is the wide area off of simon st. ide love to get a boat out there. you could easily launch a kyak from the simon st entrance. it is 3 miles from mill pond to the mill yard so bring a big battery if you plan on launching from mill pond, going to the mill yard and back. let me know if your trying to fish a particular area. i can probably tell you where the closest launch is.
  8. got out this afternoon to the nashua canal with my niece and she caught 7 sunfish. we saw alot of small bass and pickeral. i took my boat to mill pond with my wife and she caught 2 crappie and a bass. i caught a pickeral. all but 1 fish were caught in the middle of the pond. not my favorite place to fish but its close by.
  9. ive done ok there , but its still not my first choice. the water is crystal clear there and its deeper over behind the plaza. another place i see people shore fish is the pennichuck water works. plead stupid if you get caught there though. you can fish the merrimack river in hudson under the hudson/nashua bridge by taking a right after the vfw then taking another right. weve caught some smallies there. my neibor caught a nice smallie in the nashua river behind margarita's under the d**n last weekend. if you have a mass liscence there always a couple small lm at the entrance to locust pond. good luck.
  10. i caught a bass there once over by the inlet on the speedway side. i wouldnt waste my time there either. the canal is good too. weve done best for bass at the mill yard entrance to mines falls. also, sandy pond off of lake st has some bass if your limited to shore fishing. we caught a bass, a crappie and a few pickeral at otternic last night.
  11. i got to admit trout fishing isnt really my thing. still fishing with powerbait is pretty boring to me, although that trout tasted good. i might try slamon fishing next month. http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/atlantic_salmon.htm i have a good feeling about otternic this year. it seems like the weed kill may have actualy helped the fishery. the pond used to be 2/3 weeds by summer so im hopping the extra room will allow the fish to grow a little bigger.
  12. got out to mt. williams pond in weare yesterday morning with my son and caught a rainbow trout. there had to be over 30 boats on the 30 acre pond. went to massapoag in dunstable with my wife from 5:30-7:30pm and together we caught 3 pickeral, a giant sunfish, a perch and a small bass. all fish caught at massapaog on black/blue strike king miniking spinnerbaits near fallen trees and brush.
  13. [edit]Just got back from Mill pond for 2 hours and got skunked AGAIN. Water temp dropped quite a bit to 54 degrees also. I threw the whole arnsenal at them and only one hit. I'm really struggling this year not sure what it is . I usually kill at this pond. I am going gonna hit some more different spots and hope that helps. [/edit] derek, did you try slow rolling spinnerbaits? i ran into someone i know at the canal a couple weeks back and they said they got 8 in 4 hours using t-rigged worms 4 ft from the bank. they started fishing from the millyard entrance to the canal. ide like to launch my boat from there sometime if your interested. also, last week i walked the bank over by the school and saw a couple fish take off.
  14. i love that place. its one of my faves. we do best fishing from the launch to the house on the left with the lighthouse on the dock. make sure to stop and thoughroly(?) fish the area in front of the bank with the bench. we dominate this pond with spinnerbaits until the weeds grow in, then its texas rigged worms(doesnt matter what color). watch out for the floating islands. there are a couple of springs that feed this pond. use your temp gauge to find them. one of them is to the right where the houses are. you need to fish through the pickeral to catch the bass though. there are some monster picks in there. watch for the boiling baitfish.
  15. i need to know if this is a sure thing since i need to give 7 working days notice to take a day off from work and dont want to waste a vacation day. the last time we tried to organize one of these i bought a bunch of stuff for the after party/bbq and it got cancelled at the last minute.
  16. that place is tough for bass. never seen anything big pulled out of there, but ive done ok on quanity. just a heads up, dont bother with horseshoe pond in merrimack. theres better places. im also from nashua. welcome abord.---tom
  17. what day/time are we talking about? definetly interested.
  18. not sure if there are any pike in nh, but i here there are large pickeral in mill pond. got my pb in my avatar from mill pond. my father-in-law saw a nice one taken out of the canal last week.
  19. thanks. if i have time im going to try it next weekend.
  20. got out to robinson and otternic in hudson toady with the wife. she caught a pickeral and i got skunked at robinson. i caught two bass just under 2#'s and a pickeral at otternic. wife caught a bunch of pickeral, one just under 2#'s. caught a couple small bass with unhbass at flints pond in hollis saturday. he is the "pickeral master"!!! got a few small bass at locust pond friday and one at flints in hollis. everything caught on spinnerbaits.
  21. seen some pictures of big bass from there last year. how do i get in there? thanks in advance.---tom
  22. went to flints pond in hollis yesterday afternoon and caught a small bass. wife caught a 2.1lb pickeral. went back out to locust pond in tyngsboro and caught 2 small bass and a pickeral. wife caught a pickeral too.
  23. got out again today with my son to flints pond in tyngsboro. lots of slop(dead weeds ect.) in the water plus more wind and my son had about 5 backlashes(last years mono line) so we just made it around the pond once. too much junk in the water to fish spinnerbaits. 90% of this pond is about 2 ft. deep now. son said he had a bite but nothing brought to the boat.
