Spicy Beaver review
I have fished the Reaction innovations sweet and smallie Beaver for years. I have been pleased with the results. When I saw their new bait, the Spicy Beaver, I took the plunge. Thus far the results have been positive. It's a great pitching/ flipping bait that so far this year has caught 143 bass. They are sturdy, cast/pitch/flip well and the price point is quite reasonable. They catch fish. The negative: they don't come in Black.(yet) I simply like that color for most conditions. The Bream nip at the flanges a lot. There are a ton of useless hook sets. These are my only complaints so far. Overall this had been a great bait and I'm glad I took the steps to give it a try.

Charity tournament
Every year the third Saturday in September there's a charity night tournament to benefit the rescue and fire folks. It's a fun time capped off with a breakfast cooked at the weigh-in. There were 57 boats entered and we finished in the # eight spot. It was tough. We weighed in our best three that went 5.9. I lost two fish that would have bumped us way up but that's fishing. One of the greatest things about getting older is you simply understand that losing a few fish doesn't mean the world is coming to an end. i fish very few tournaments anymore but this is one I never miss. These guys greatly appreciate the little bit of help we can give. They give so much, in so many ways, It's the least I can do. This isn't a big fish report nor is it a huge numbers story. It's more about a small vibrant community that still takes pride in where they live.

A question for bait and tackle junkies
Like @A-Jay and others, I simply like to buy baits. I can and will buy baits. Other than the Rebels if any person, from this site or otherwise, came to the house I would be more than happy for you to take what you like. For me fishing is all encompassing and a part of that is buying baits. I also figure that once I'm gone , my son, my grandson's, granddaughter, and all their spouses, will have aplenty of baits to fish with.

It's college football season, finally. My grandson is an N. C. State fan like his Poppy. His mama(my step-daughter) is not a sports fan at all. She bought him a unc shirt(she liked the color) and made him wear it. He called me at work( he's 7) and complained about the ugly shirt he had to wear and his mama didn't understand that unc is State's ( remember, he's 7 lol) March enemy. I assured him I would take care of this after work. I went and bought him another State shirt and promptly went to his house. After offering $15.00 for that God awful shirt my step-daughter finally gave it up. I told big Nate I would pick him up Saturday and dispose of it in a proper fashion. We had fun!- Topwater tricks, tips and hacks
