  1. Hmmm, wouldn't a bass risk losing it's prey sometimes..? I mean if a fish is gonna expend the energy, why not just eat the dang thang..?
  2. George...you are the Man...
  3. Keep the JJ's out of the heat..get a small iigloo cooler with some blue ice paks..I have no problems with mine drying up, not do I let it heat to point where it "bubbles"..
  4. You might, imho, it depends on far you want to take swimbaiting..stay with the light baits, you'll likely be o.k. although I'm not feelin the 30lb braid. But if you decide to venture into bigger baits, that rod won't work. I would recomend a dedicated swimbait rod, if your serious about it. Also I would bump up to 55 lb braid min. for anything 1.5 ozs up to maybe 3 ozs, then it's time for heavier line.
  5. Exactly..that rod is only rated for 1 1/4oz..Trust me, once you start to get into swimbaiting..you'll try to sell it the first chance you get..spring for the extra 30.00 and get a rod you will want to keep, and enjoy with a varity of baits.
  6. If I can stick a 7'6" rod in the cab of my truck..you get one in your car..lol Dude, I'd seriously go with the okuma..it's affordable, comes with a decent warranty. And alot of guys use them...do you want to trust a 49.00 rod to toss a 30.00 bait..? Pony up..
  7. Is she gone yet..? Sneak over to TW, and place an order....
  8. 6" flat tail Roboworm..
  9. Second rod from the bottom... http://www.***.com/Okuma_Guide_Series_Big_Bait_Casting_Rods/descpage-OGSBBR.html
  10. These Flat out catch fish. I had 7 in 10 mins..however 3 came unbottoned..still that work. I fished them a bit different than how Mike said to fish them..I slowly bounced them off the bottom about a foot, when they come dowm..Bam!..I do let them sit for about 15-30 secs. then bring em up again..of course, this doesn't always work in every situation. BTW, I used the watermelon craw..in pretty stained water Didn't get any hits on the red ones yet.
  11. Don't rule out a ragetail lizard t rigged..weightless you can swim them over the tops of weeds for some great action. I should say, that the RT lizards have really good swiming action.
  12. Fished the rocks at DVL..this lake is nothing but rocks for the most part, never had a problem with abrassion, have got a few baits stuck between the rocks though.. ;D This with either 10, or 12 lb yozuri hybrid ultrasoft.
  13. Nothing I know of under 7'..most guys prefer 7'6" and longer for better casting, i.e. longer cast's. If your going to be throwing 2oz baits, like a 6" hudd ect. I think you might find it hard to get your bait "Out" there, so I would say your probably going to have to go with a 7'6"..in that range, the Okuma Guide Series is hard to beat at 109.99 at TW free shipping, the one would would want is the 7'6" MHf..rated 1 to 3ozs..with the right reel, you may be able to throw 1/2oz baits. This is where it becomes specailized.. Oh..almost forgot, Okuma has a telescopic version too.

    I bought a couple packs at sports authority..never caught a fish with them..and I paid alot more than a 1.00 a pak. >
  15. I have a Rick Clunn 7' bc rod, and have thrown way more than worms ect.. Good deal for the $$. I think the Shimano Clarus would also be a good rod to check out..
  16. BPS reel would work, depends on which line you use..And, if most guys want more line capacity due to using heavier line, i.e. 20 to 30 lb mono, again depending on the weight of the baits, or type of fish targeted, like Stripers...which can make long runs, and spool a smaller sized low pro reel in the 50 to 200 size...that's why I suggested the 301..holds way more line that the 101..yet is a low pro. If your just fishing for lmb..and you use say, 15 to 17lb test for baits under 2 ozs..you shouls be o.k. with your bps reel.
  17. Uni to uni knot..no failures so far..in braid to fluro, copoly, or mono..
  18. For 2 oz baits, the Okuma guide serries in a 7'11" mh and a curado 301 would make a nice inexpensive rig. The 795 Dyobens is a good rod, if you opt for the 2nd. generation, some of the 1st generations had some failures. You can spend alot on a good swimbait rig, but it won't nessesarrly catch more fish imho BTW, I have thrown a few bait's including Matt's hardgill with a low pro reel (Chronarch).
  19. This may sound stoopid, but the hardest for me was learning how to flip, and pitch..sometimes I still get overruns, maybe cuz I don't do it enough..?
  20. Well, I would use braid, and a leader for a ds in rocks.. the leader would be at least 6'... I'm loving the 55# diawa samuri braid...stuff cast's so easy...sux when the wind licks up though.. ;D
  21. For blue & black, I use a ragetail chunk craw, in watermellon blue, I think..the blue is sparkely.. ;D Check strikekings site to be sure.

Dang...I have to disagree Raul..I know you have a ton of experience, But...I have gammies that I have sharpened 3 months ago, and they work fine, yes I have caught fish on the hooks I sharpened. So..my question is, why would a hook be trash due to a dull point, that has been sharpened...?
  23. 1...3X worms are so soft, they tend to Melt.. 2..If you dip them in the clear JJ's, it will cause the scent to become tinted, i.e. the red shad makes JJ's clear, a reddish rose color....don't ask how I know this..lol Instead, I would rub them down with Megastrike, and keep them in a zip lock baggie..
