If they say the booster is the way to go, then I'll be inline for mine.

Line for my spinning setup.
I've always used 8 lb mono, or fluro on my spinning set ups. Throw everything from a spinnerbait to worms. Any of the good quality lines will suffice. Also I used KVD line conditioner to help tame any memory.

Favorite Ribbon Tail Worm Colors ?
Purple works well here in my area.

What's the First Thing You Throw?
Depends on time of year, and where I'm fishing. On smaller lakes and ponds, I start with a 1/2 oz spinnerbait keeping it just under the surface on ponds, and small lakes. For most of the bigger lakes, either a jig or a worm. Sometimes I'll toss a 7" glide bait, or swimbait.

How to get a line in a golf course pond
Are there no lakes/ponds around where you live.? Generally, fishing golf course ponds is like shooting fish in a barrel imho. Your better off fishing somewhere the going isn't so easy, and you will build a better skill set. I'm an avid golfer, one thing is, IF you do go to a golf course, do Not leave any trash, i.e. line hooks, ect. And yes, the greenskeeper is the guy to ask.

Any suggestions for low memory mono?
I have been having good luck with Sufix Elite, I do spray it with KVD line conditioner, as I do with advanced, and all my mono lines.

Southern California - Los Angeles area bass report
WTG. Been years since I fished M.J. only fished it once. I see you fish Alondra, I use to fish there almost daily, as I lived less than 10 mins. from there. Was there a couple of weeks ago, place is dirty, and some of the guys that fish there now, don't follow any guidelines, i.e. they start casting within 10 feet of me.. Anyway, good to see you got a couple of nice bass.

skinner
YA know, I forgot to say that Skinner isn't the best lake for summer bass fishing, from a boat or shore. If you want to stay on shore, lake Hodges is Way better, and has more shore access.

Oil spot in driveway
Brake cleaner. I use the spray, spray it well, then hose it off.

No, only certain areas are for shore fishing.

Yeah, you really need a boat at Skinner, even then, unless you know the lake, it can be tough. I've fished there a bunch, mostly before the water level went up. If you happen to rent a boat, go to the far end of the lake where all the toolies are ( they may be submerged at this point, cast a Weedless t rig worm or craw type bait, don't go real light, as you need enough weight to get the bait down if you cast about a foot or so into them. Otherwise, just pitch right to the edge of them. Also, if possible, do not go on the weekends..lol

1-800-bait-addict. Big plastic swimbaits.
IIRC, the Tatcicalbassin guys recommended natural/ghost colors for swimbaits when Matt and Tim lived on Clearlake. May want to try the bait before adding any color to it, and see how it does.

Best Frog rod around 120-180
^^^^ This. As for a reel. A good budget reel is the Diawa Fuego in the 8 speed model, I use this reel for froggin, and it works very well. There are other good reels, just grab a 8:1 to haul the fish out of the vegetation fast.

Dragging this back up. In my original post, I put off getting vaxed, well that changed. With the delta variant being what it is. I got my 2nd pfizer dose today. No side effects at all, not even a sore are. Should have done this months ago. Curious if anyone else waited this long to get theirs.

Experienced anglers. Do you still backlash?
Yup, even the Pro's get em..The idea is to get as few as possible.

1-800-bait-addict. Big plastic swimbaits.
How long is this bait.? If it's over or around 6", then I would cast it out, let it hit bottom, and slowly bottom bounce it. Make it look like a fish feeding off the bottom, so no need to pop it up to high, about 6" or so works. Also try other retrieves, like slow rolling it just off the bottom. Just saw that these are a tad over 6".

Favorite budget rod for dropshotting?
Funny you mention Turners. I also have their 7'1" M spinning rod, and love it. Re: the Colt, I bought one about a year about, about a n hour into our fishing trip, 8" of the tip broke off, and no, I wasn't high sticking it, or using a bait that was heavier than the rating. Another rod you may want to check out is the Diawa XT Tatula, about $ 99.00, pretty dang good rods for the $$.

Big worms/ hook size
yup, the diameter dictates the hook size.

Pond fishing during the dog days.
You might try an underspin such as the Owner flashy swimmer with a 2.8 kietech swimbait, or a baby fluke, ect.
-
Underspins for 2.8 - 3.3 swimbaits
Opps. Forgot to mention that I also use the Cool baits too.. Old age is setting in..lol

Underspins for 2.8 - 3.3 swimbaits
Owner Flashy Swimmer is what I use. Not cheap, but they work well.
