Micro Guides or Regular Guides?
Small guides, don't care for micro guides, even though I don't use a leader.

Gama Hook Failure
Was this hook a recent purchase, or was it an older hook.? I've used hundreds of gamy hooks, both light and heavy wire types and never had one fail in any way. As with anything, nothing is 100%, maybe you got a defective hook.?

close with handle or hand?
Always by hand. Especially if I want a soft entry, then I'll feather the line, can't do that if you close the bail by reeling it.

Fishing Vs Tackling As A Hobby
I only buy what I'm going to use. As it is, I have enough tackle to last a couple of years..

7' M/H for Frog - Thinking SLX - Advice Needed
I have an SLX 7' mh, and yes it is a tad stiff for a mh compared to my other mh rods with the same action. Would I use it for a frog rod.? Only if there were light cover that I wouldn't have to horse the fish out of, I also prefer a little longer rod. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the SLX, but I would buy another over some other rods.

$100 Baitcaster
Not trying to be a wise guy, but this begs the question... Did you test every reel made in that price range.?

I went fishing today!
Wish I had a dollar for every roboworm and senko that I've given to new fisherman. Best you can do is tell them how to fish a given bait, but it's up to them to put in the time to get good at it. To the OP, bass will sometimes not bite the same bait over and over, same goes for the retrieve, ect. Keep at it.

TW. Order vs Shipping dates
All three items were shown as being in stock, just thought it was a tad long in between the order and the ship date. Orders I placed about a month ago didn't take quite as long. Also, I did not mean to post this as a bash on TW, it is what it is, I'll wait. Thanks for all the replies.

TW. Order vs Shipping dates
So, on 4/23 I ordered a new swimbait rod, and a couple of glide baits from TW. Now, I know they are backed up like everyone else, but today I went on TW and checked on my order only to find out that my order won't ship until 5/10, which seems a bit long. I checked 2 other sites and orders are shipped within a few days. So I have to ask, is TW that busy, or what. Any of you guys experience the same thing.?

Cops, Sheriffs, Deputy's, any LEO
We are very much Pro Law Enforcement. My wife and I volunteer at our local LAPD station, we raise money to help pay for things the Government of Calif. see's these things as not needed, we raised enough money to pay for an extended parking lot for example. Holidays all the folks at the station get some very good grub, cards, and mementos to try and show our appreciation for what they do and sacrifice. If I may, I would like to include all the FireFighters too.

Bass size in pond
I use to fish a city park pond that was 4 acres and max depth was 6' plus. On May day the dfg came in and shocked the pond to see what was in there. What they found was over a dozen bass weighing 14 lbs + 10 that were in the 12 lb range, and a bunch of 7 and below pound bass. There is also catfish, bluegill and IIRC 2 or 3 gar. To Blues point, out of all the local guys that fished there, only a hand full of us threw big swimabaits. Sure, we could spend days fishing with out a bite, but when we did catch a bass it was usually 6 lbs or bigger, there were a few 12 lb'rs in there too. So maybe try throwing a larger bait, could be an Upton 9 to 12" worm. If you have the gear to throw say a 2.5 oz bait, a 6" Huddleston would work. What do you have to lose.?

Setup for the Megabass Dark Sleeper

Rage bug or craw, and a sweet beaver.

Upgrades for cheaper reels
Yup, I have a bunch of different polishing pads that I use to use for polishing frets on guitars. Use a dab of fine DuPont polishing compound, works great.

Looking for a new drop shot setup. Recommendations?
A small twist tie works good..

Redemption Giant
WTG. Pretty bass, Congratz.

Upgrades for cheaper reels
personally, I would polish the spool shaft on both ends. I do that to all my reels, it does help with casting some.

Swimbait combo??
I agree, the 200 size reel will be just fine. I have thrown my 3 1/8 oz glide bait with my 200 sized reels, while a 300 would be better, the 200 gets the job done. BTW, welcome to BR..

Best advice to give newer guys
Very clever....?

Swim jig water temp...redux
Water temps don't determine if I throw a swimjig, the Bass do. It toss em year round.

What's your favorite line of reels?
From the late 60's, all I had were Diawa's up until about 2001, then I bout all Shimano Curados, and Chronarchs. I then stopped fishing for a few years, as I was heavily into guitars. Then when I started back fishing, for some reason I tried Diawa again. My 2 spinning reels and 6 of may baitcasters are all Diawa, plus a lone Shimano.

Does anyone actually "flip"?
My flipping does not involve casting, pitching does.
