  1. I sure hope they can get rid of those things before they get a foot hold here..
  2. Just bought a handle for my Shimano for 16. 95, carbon fiber with bearings. I'm sure they have em for Diawa too.
  3. I hooked about a 25 lb ray on the ocean side of 72nd st on 8 lb hybrid, with a 4" big hammer swimbait, in my float tube. After about 15 mins, I cut the line..was not much fun..I never targeted ray or flatties, just bass.
  4. Yup...Won a couple club tourney's using that bait..Even had a octopus grab one at the LAB..lol
  5. Forgot to tell ya. Grab a green pumpkin, or redish colored finesse jig, and add a baby rage craw trailer, cast, let it bottom, then slowly bounce it about 6" to a foot off the bottom..I found this combo will catch spotties, and sandies when most other baits won't get bit..
  6. Google pudingstone fishing 2020..There are some vids, and good info that may help you.
  7. My punching rod is 7'4", my fliping rod is 7'9", 2 different techniques..No reason that I can see why a 7' rd would't work, if it had the specs. for your conditions.
  8. All decent reels will cast really far, the key is, a good rod, a Trained thumb and good technique. You can adjust reels to have very little friction..
  9. Got it. Never fished L.B...The LAB is only good when the tide is either coming in, or it's high tide, most harbors are like this.
  10. Long beach..? You sure it's not Los Alamitos..? Sometime, try a 4" Kalin green flaked grub on a 1/8 oz darter head, keep it just off the bottom..
  11. I have a feeling Irene is gonna be stopping by here soon..
  12. Those docks look familiar, is that Newport..? And yep, freshwater bass lures catch spotties, sandies, and checkers. Some times color can make a big difference. 10 lb mono should be o.k.
  13. If fishing from shore. If the wind is blowing in your face, don't use braid, the wind will easily bow it. Try to cast at an angle, sort of parallel to the shore if possible, or move to another part of the lake where the wind doesn't affect your casting to much. In windy conditions, say 10 to 15 mph, I like throwing a 3/4 oz spinner bait, or a heavy jig. on 15 lb mono.
  14. 1 bait, ya can only rig it 1 way, have to be a whacky rigged senco..
  15. If you get snagged, Never pull with the rod. Grab a branch, a small one at that, or wrap a towel or something around your hand, and pull the line in Front of the rod.
  16. Opps, I thought you were talking about the XT rods...
  17. I own both brands..Being the Irod is a tad more spendy, I buy them when I have the extra $$$..
  18. O.k...Then I would try a super fluke in a white/pearl color. Bass could be moving to deeper water, although some could stay shallow. Try to imitate a dying shad, or fish it like a jerk bait.
  19. I meant, what type of bait fish is in the lake..
  20. Well, I can't seem to find any info re: crawdads on the dfw site, so, I'll take your word for it.
  21. Using any game fish, i.e. bluegill, is illegal in So. Cali. You can use night crawlers, and lizards..legally. You can go on the Dept of fish and wildlife to see the regs.
  22. Take a look at the Irod Genesis II rods. Really are built and fish at much higher price than the $ 149.99 price tag. Customer service is Outstanding too. Just look at the reviews on TW.
  23. Use a red lamp..?
  24. What is the main forage in that lake..? Try to use colors that imitate that forage if possible. I found that if you use a mosquito hook, and nose hook a 4" hologram shad roboworm with a split shot, and use a semi slow retrieve big bass will eat it. I throw this on a spinning rig with 6 or 8 lb mono. It;s worth a try..
  25. Hmm, sailboat cove usually produces when it's slow in other places. Unless the bass are still spawning.
