Any fishing games?
The kind of game i would really like to see is one that you play as the fish. Maybe something like if you get caught 3 times games over or gut hooked and game over. The over all goal would be to see how big (weight) you could get your fish to be. The computer could present lures/baits in different presentations and it would be up to you to judge wheter to strike or not. I think it would put a different twist on a fishing game.

Fuel filters
The filter i installed came from Autozone. It cost about $10 has a cleanable filter and is clear so you can see if it is clogged. It also comes with different size nipples to accomidate any size hose from 1/4 to 3/8 Here is the one i have

Fuel filters
Definatly keep it on. I have just gone through alot of trouble because i had no inline fuel filter. The fuel/water serperator does not filter out particles in the fuel. If you do not have a fuel filter it goes straight to your fuel pump, and will cause major trouble. In my case some fuel had become coagulated and the particles broke up and started getting in my fuel pump clogging it up. I had to rebuild the fuell pump(which turns out is pretty easy to do) and put a filter in between the seperator and fuel pump. After i did that i have not had 1 problem. BTW. i have a fuel/water seperator, inline fuel filter before the fuel pump, and another inline filter between the fuel pump and carberator on a 2000 90hp mercury and it runs like a champ.

first day on the lake with new boat...ooops!
Here's my story. Bought my boat and the first day out we pull up to the "staging area" and i am so excited about finally getting a boat and actually getting ready to motor across thed water. I put the drain plug in pull of the transom saver, load the boat with tackle rods, snacks drinks , etc. My turn at the dock comes so i have my buddy back the truck in while i am in the boat. He pulls in (after a while, not the best at backing up a truck), we are a little crooked on the ramp but no problem. I fire up the engine and am ready to go, I tell my buddy to back up some more i give her some gas and i am going nowhere. I thinking the motors running i can feel it trying to back up maybe i am just stuck on the trailor. So i tell my buddy to back up he does the back tires of the truck are fully submerged in the water. So that has to be far enough right? I put'er in rev. and hit the gas a little and go nowwhere . I give some more gas., waters flying, motors reving, and i am not moving. Start scratching my head thinking what is going on. Just then an elderly gentelman looks at me from the dock and says " son do you know that your straps on the back are still hooked up?" I was so embarresed i just put my face in my hands and motioned my buddy to pull us out. We sat and laughed for about 30 min. after that.

Trailer wheel bearings- too loose/too tight
I worked at a trailer manufacturer for 2 years , we built them from scratch and this is exactly what should be done.

Don't you love these guys ??? :-)
He probably has spent 40,000 on that new boat but has yet to land a decent fish and is probably compensating for his obvious lack of fishing knowledge compared to someone in a 14ft jon boat( I base this on you knowing state fishing records and him not). Any way its the same in all sports fishing, golf, hunting, whatever you will always have somebody with excellent equipment that has to "upgrade" there performance ( i.e catch a 3 lb call it 5, or shoot 85 on the course and call it 81 in the club house) in order to justify the large amout of money they just spent to there peers. You should feel good knowing that you walked away from that conversation with no doubt that you are the better angler.

Kim-Bain Moore for FLW?
While i watched the FLW tour on Vs. (for about 15 min) i noticed a commercial for the FLW tour that had a some professionals at the end saying something like "i am FLW" or something similar. But it looked like the female pro was Kim-Bain Moore. It would seem to me that if this was Kim that it would be a slap in the face to Bassmasters. I understand that pros go between to 2 tours and all but with the publicity and fame( and money i'm sure) that went along with being the first woman to fish the Classic, to be in a commercial promoting a competitor would be a upsetting to Bassmasters. First, was i mistaken and that was not Kim? And if it was ,what are your thoughts on "tour loyalty"?

FLW Outdoors TV Annoying.
I will certainly agree on the commentators, they seem to be stiff and scripted. I would be willing to bet that either the commentators start to loosen up (if they can) or they will find some new ones. It will be hard to compete with Basssmasters if the commentators do not lighten up and make watching the show a little more interesting. Just to let you know I watched the show for about 15 min until I decided that washing dishes would be more fun! ;D ;D

Switching to baitcasting
Whatever reel you decide to buy the most important thing is to learn how to correctly adjust the spool tension and brake. You can buy the most expensive reel on the market but if you do not adjust it correctly you will find that you have more birdsnest and/or will have shorter cast than someone with a cheaper reel that is dialed in correctly.

Knock Off Cranks
A genral rule of thumb I use when I consider knock-offs is what the actual differance is. If the only difference is the design maybe slightly different(it only takes 1 little change before they can market it) then i will give it a try provided all the materials are the same. If they have different materials then no way should you give it a go.

Are aesthetics important to you?
I think looks=confidence=more fish. If you have a rod/reel combo that looks good to you, you will be more confident that the set-up is going to work. Having said that beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, what looks good to you may not look good to someone else and vice versa.

Anyone Fish Lake Murry in South Carolina?
I am about 20 min. from Lake Murray and fish it every weekend. The SCDNR relesed carp in the lake a while back to get rid of some the hydrilla you can check it out here http://www.scapms.org/lkmurraygrasscarp.html. It has some good mix of structure and cover. I can say that just about any technique you want to try out you can find a place for it on Murray. They have planted some cypress trees, button bushes (2 friends of mine tore them up on a spot with the button bushes and a jig ,28 bass between the 2 )and other plants you can check it out here http://www.dnr.sc.gov/invasiveweeds/habitatenhancement.html. Right now is the best time to go it is not crowded at all but I am starting to notice more activity on the lake. I saw the first jet ski out about 3 weeks ago (it was about 80 that weekend) so it won't be long.

Good luck on Murray if you need some help getting pointed in the right direction i will be happy to help.

Lake Murray, SC - Tackle Shops?
There are several tackle shops here in columbia. Sportsmans Warehouse is still open and i don't think it will be closing. Dicks is about 2 min. away from SW. Both are located in the Harbison area. I belive it is exit 104. You also have some smaller bait shops like Dooley's (alot of locals visit this shop) which is on 378 also there is Lake Murray Hardware in chapin (my new favorite store).
