  1. I have both a 2016 ranger 520c and a tracker 175 wt ... I fish ky lake often ... unless I'm gonna flipping or pitching skipping under docks for sure ... I much prefer the hull and it's only a 16 foot 8 inch boat boat rides way better on the 3-4 foot days on Kentucky ... even then I can still pitch flip skip just fine out of the v hull ... I like it so much probably going to move to new ranger 1880ms or a Lund and sell the tracker You did great
  2. The new g2 line up 150 - 300 is about as good as gets now engine wise imho ... gas mileage is insane good and torque wow plus they look dam good with dude panels to match whatever you want but I still prefer the quieter verados just because
  3. I don't think it matters ... I've seen many 70,000 dollar plus bass boats that go almost 70 mph get ***** handed to them over and over again by 50-115 hp engine slow old boats in tourneys. so I see no difference in the kayak question albeit I don't do kayaks
  4. if i remember correctly its been years but when i did the lifetime membership ... i think it took like 4 weeks
  5. nor does keeping them within slot and limits set by state biologists according ... no harm to overall fishery
  6. i dont eat bass ... but .... there is a reason the state wildlife and fisheries set limits and slots ... becuase .... drum roll those limits do not hurt that fishery with those limits on them ... but i throw all bass back its my personal choice but i do not begrudge anyone for catching and eating their fish ... most credible studies have shown the limits and slot system works fine
  7. I just dont see any advantage ever of using a baitcaster to skip with ... I may be wrong and there may be some useful need for it Im overlooking ... but seems to me youll be FISHING a whole lot more using spinning tackle
  8. i use them all year round even in warmer months they are awesome protection against WINDBURN which I hate ... since moving from triton to ranger this past year its even more protection since ranger windshields are useless to boaters of average or taller height.
  9. excellent interview its fun to see someone like Bill Dance talking about kentucky / barkley lake .... becuase its my home lake
  10. well you dont ... HOWEVER... these look like Golden Shiners you can get in Florida and I bid on a trip with shaw grigsby a few years back and won .. we fished these golden shiners with shaw that looks kinda like these in florida along with articificial baits for two days and the 10 biggest fish of the two days ( all over 8 pounds one over 11 ) came from the golden shiners we used ... so sometimes maybe big live bait drives bass wild .... ive not been back to florida since or fished shiners since but the day we had 5-6 inch golden shiners in florida was unreal ... which is the reason I was wondering if these were any count and as lively as those goldens were ... nothing wrong with throwing a couple out weightless to free swim while working traps and or jerkbaits IMHO
  11. I am heading to guntersville next week and think im ordering some of these ... to take what do you think ? waste of money or real deal on guntersville? www.blacksalty.com i am not affiliated with them at all... btw I am a car dealer. not advertising them ... just want feedback on htese dam good looking bass killers maybe!
  12. i use the marine deep cycle for my 36 volt trolling motor and i use a deepcycle as well for cranking ... i like it better
  13. I catch a Ton of smallmouth ticking the bottom rocks and cover on bandit 300 series crankbaits ... trolling them i used to believe color mattered until i started breaking off crankbaits and jsut went with whatever odd color i had .. when trolling i guess its reaction more than color cuase they bite them all drifting tubes is great as well
  14. Ive only done this twice most times in winter I freeline Live Shiners at Dale Hollow but.. the two times we couldnt get shiners we did the floating fly 1st time we boated over 50 smallies 3-5 pounds so we went back the next time to do it again becuase it was such a blast and in 6 hours caught about 4 keepers - kinda boring so what little i have done it i think its either incredibly fun or broing and slow hehe P.S. neither time did we have specialized equiptment just used 7 foot rattletrap rods i already owned and Pflueger President Spinning Reels
  15. once in north sauty ... im looking at the topo map I bought ... it seems to be broken into 3 parts 1.) the part closest to the main lake 2.) the part between the two bridges 3.) the part past the last bridge way back up into the creek which of those three areas should i focus on for what litlle time ill have to fish while im there? I assume the north side would be warmer and better fishing becuase of the sunlight ... whichever of the three sections i fish .. is this the case for this area?
  16. KY lake is really a great lake / barkley right next to it connected by canal The smallmouth fishing at kentucky has become outstanding lately if your into them ... personal best smallmouth last early summer 6 pounds 10 ounces to many 3-5 pounders to count last year Green turtle bay is a great place to stay .. the condos are great .. close .. easy to hit both lakes formt he ramp at marina becuase its at canal basically ... i have a condo there and love it largemouth fishing is decent bags around 20 pounds in tourneys although i perosnal dont do very well largemouth fishing ... more than likely becuase im always targeting the smallmouth heh
  17. can you run a humminbird sidescan unit in the left dash of a ranger z520 and continue to use the ram mounted lowrance x38c hd on the front of the boat and right side of steering wheel. Id like to have sidescan but dont want to give up my lowrance units. becuase i have 3200 invested in them and just bought them this summer ... so dont want to try to sell them take a huge loss and then get the top of line side scans ... but wouldnt mind getting one of the smaller cheaper versions of sidescan gps to see the bottom in that manner as well any problems with running the two lorance units i have AND a smaller hummingbird sidescan unit in dash ?
  18. I have two lcx 38c hd lowrance units on my rig although they have been replaced now with a sleeker unit but i am very interested in the side scan humminbird units they seem very neat but have yet to be able to play with one of them the new boss hog unit is 3 thousand bucks if you can afford it i suggest networking a front and back system that way when you find structure from the back you can hone in out it up front and mark it then both units receive the location for future use.
  19. if shimano will nto support the youth program ... then I will no longer support shimano
  20. well you cannot do this in tourneys but.... you will load the boat with crankbaits large enough to tick the bottom of whatever depth your fishing by just putting your boat in gear throwing one cracnkbait to right one to left by your partner and trolling over productive areas .... its like one very very long cast heh ;D
  21. 6 pound 10 ounce Smallmouth - mid summer - black bandit 300 crankbait 4 pound 4 ounce large mouth - early fall 10 inch plum paddle tail worm texas rigged
  22. I left you a message at the office number you gave me ... we will be driving down the 26th and fishing friday sat and sunday .. we rented a house off 79 on big spring creek with a boat dock swimming pool and believe it or not a PUTTING GREEN - LOL! It sounds like you live close to where we rented ... there are 10-12 of us coming down with 5-6 boats ... its a pretty eclectic group of guys ... but if you like good guitar picking at night and good food ... call me back and maybe we can hook up and fish one day together ... my boat can easily handle three - 2008 ranger with 250 pro xs ... some of the guys are bringing 3-5 inch live shiners with them from ky ordered 1500 of them HEH ... i am going to be rattle trap and jerkbait fishing mostly i think unless thye start whacking thme with the shiners anywho give me a call a couple of really good guitar pickers are coming should be nice at night outside by the dock playing music ETC. I rarely have the time to fish anywhere but around kentucky lake and dale hollow and barren lake but if you ever decide to make a trip up to fish one of those lakes let me know ... some really good smallmouth fishing and decent largemouth fishing ... i hope this trip to G-ville is better than the other time I went ... didnt catch any good fish regards
  23. Hiyas I am new to the forum... I will be heading to guntersville lake on the 26th of this month for a few days ... I am from kentucky and I like to bass fish albeit dont get much time off to do it ... does anyone familar with that lake have any suggestions on what will be the better baits / presentations / ETC this time of year at guntersville ... and what parts of the lake or locations or what type of water /structure I should focus on .... I am trying to alieviate as much water as possible before I leave so I might have a chance at cacthing a few fish while there .... I have never been to guntersville and cuaght any good fish and been there two times in last few years but just got a lake map of the internet of the lake and am trying to figured out a way to put them in the boat this time with homework on the lake .... any help would be much appreciated regards
