  1. Welcome, hightide! As others have stated you can still catch plenty of bass on lures and bait utilized in the past. Fishing line, rods, reels, graphs, and boats improve but they don't make everything from the past obsolete. Only the bass can do that.
  2. We live and learn, right? I always lip my fish but where I live a seven or eight pound fish is huge. I do carry a net on the slim chance that I nail something much larger. Even then I may still lip it.

  6. I was thinking 20 or 20.5 inches based on measuring my hand but he may have larger hands than me. That would put it between 4 and 5 lbs. Give it up, Russ! What is the weight?
  7. It is tricky and I don't feel confident in determining the length either because of the angle of the fish. I'll go with 4 1/2 to 5 1/2.
  8. Thanks for showing us the bird!
  9. Those are some nice-looking fish. I'm sure you had a blast watching your daughter reel 'em in!

  18. I don't smile because I don't want to show off my green teeth . . . . both of them.
  19. That is one heck of a fish! Kudos to the guy that caught it. I see some dates on the website. Was it caught July 2nd? I'm looking for more articles about this. If it is indeed that large, we should be seeing more articles very soon, I would think. Here's a couple in English. http://www.wfn.tv/news/index.php?blog=2756 http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/fishing/fly-fishing/where-fish/2009/07/new-world-record-largemouth
