  1. Jaym137 stated: The link for the KVD conditioner also makes this claim. What benefits do you all notice when using it on braid . . . . easier casting, fewer backlashes, etc? I'm usually flipping and pitching heavy cover with braid so I don't know if I would notice any benefit.
  2. While I don't agree with someone lying about the weight of a fish, I also try to never assume someone is lying when they post a weight. If I think the weight is a bit inflated I keep my mouth shut and give congratulations. The picture could be misleading or the angler's scale could be off. Either way, I can't prove a thing so why question it?
  3. I agree. I just don't believe that lying provides any benefit to anyone in most circumstances. There are obvious situations where you may twist the truth a little to avoid hurting someone's feelings. (Such as when your former 115 lb model wife who now weighs 150 asks you if she appears to be fat, or grandma with her new light blue hairdo asks how you like her hair. )
  4. I bought some KVD line conditioner for the first time this Spring. I do notice a difference in line memory that makes it worth the price for me. I have used it on the following lines so far: Suffix Elite mono, Suffix Siege mono, Yo Zuri Ultra Soft, and the Cabela's and Trilene fluorocarbon lines. I have not tried it on my Suffix braid because braid obviously doesn't suffer from line memory. When I first bought the product I sprayed it on a cloth and ran the line through it while installing the line. It is my opinion that this is useless. I don't think enough of the product is distributed on the line using this method. I noticed little or no difference in the line. I found that applying it in the following manner works best for me. Make the longest cast you can,and spray the conditioner on the spooled line. Then start reeling in. Spray a little more on the spooled line after you have reeled it halfway in. Then make a final tiny spray when you have reeled it completely in. After doing this, I only have to make a tiny spray now and then and my line is more manageable.
  5. This link provides a largemouth bass length to age comparison for Northern Illinois. Of course this doesn't hold true for every lake in your area as other factors can come into play but you can use it as an average. Per the chart, 6 - 8 inch bass are generally one to two years old in your area. http://www.windycityfishing.com/bass_age_chart.htm Welcome to the Bass Resource community!
  6. Wow! Racoons are bad Muthas! I can understand your consternation. I don't suppose there were any big rocks laying around that you could have used instead of the stick?

  9. In your situation fishing from the bank, shallow runners and lipless are your best bet. As a general response to your question, I would answer that you can use all crankbaits around weeds. Fishing deeper diving cranks over the top of deeper weeds is great. Crank the lure down till you feel it hit the weeds, stop for a second or two to let it float back up above them, then do it all over again.

  18. It appears to be a flooded grave, based on the house right on the edge of the water in the distance, the flooded walkway behind it, and poles sticking up out of the water. Interesting picture.

  20. Congrats on the boat, Burley!
  21. No, it's not based on assumptions that bass think and react like humans. It's based on Dr. Jones incomplete research. As such, it is speculation but that is typical of most of our conversations on this forum, as we can't ask the bass. If we stopped every thread that wastes breath on here 95 percent of them would disappear including some of yours.
