Laser Lure
Like some of you here, I made the assumption that this was a gimmick so this is my first time even reading through the thread. The quality of this lure sounds good. The hooks are Mustad. I'm really intrigued now especially after reading Senko77's comments.

just baught a 00` ranger r93 /200hp ficht advise?
I have a 2000 Evinrude 200 HP Ficht and it runs great. There are a couple of things to keep in mind regarding these motors. Some of the original Ficht motors used 3/8 inch screws to hold the injector flange to the cylinder head. A few of these developed cracks resulting in fuel leakage and a few cases of motors catching on fire and even exploding. There was a recall fix for this problem where this area was beefed up to eliminate this potential issue. Make sure your motor has the recall work. If your motor has 1/2 inch screws holding the injector flange to the head the recall work has been done. From what I've read the 2000 year was the next generation of the Ficht Ram and these motors may have been manufactured with the fix but I would make sure. Additionally, use only the oil and spark plugs recommended for use with this motor. I read a number of older posts on line where this motor had issues relating to these things.

Rule of Thumb: If you aren't working, you should fish today.

Suffix Elite.
Suffix Elite is a good monofilament. There are a number of good monofilaments but if this is the one you choose I don't think you will be disappointed.

Jigs and Rattles
I would use both. Rattles are obviously useful when the water is muddy so you should have them in your arsenal. However, if I'm fishing clear water and the fish want a jig with a rattle, then I'm going to use it there as well.

Will bass eat below them?
Yes, bass do feed off the bottom. Our job is to determine where they are in relation to the water column and present the proper presentation. As already stated, if they are suspended 10 feet above the bottom I wouldn't think a bottom presentation would be the best way to catch these fish.

t-rig/jig setup
Ultra Soft is specifically designed for spinning gear due to its lack of memory. I just prefer it for this reason on any reel that I use. I didn't mean to mislead you. Hybrid is a good line as well.

t-rig/jig setup
That would be a decent combo. The 703CEF is a good all-around rod if you are going to use the same rod for soft plastic t-rigging and jigs. If you are going with Yo Zuri I would use the Ultra-soft at 12 lb. If your jigging involves thick brush, wood, and vegetation, I would purchase an extra spool and keep some braid or heavier fluorocarbon/hybrid line on it for that purpose. There are better Powell rods for fishing nothing but heavy cover though. The 765MH can handle lures up to one and a half ounces. At 7' 6'', it is longer than the 7 foot 703 and costs 30 dollars more. It's power rating is a 5 while the 703 is only a 3 per Powell's web site, http://powellco.com/productline2009.php.

motor inspection cost
That price is in the ballpark and it's worth it. If you spend the $110 and decide not to buy due to issues with the motor, you're out $110. If you buy without the inspection and experience motor trouble later, you could be looking at thousands.

Test
Welcome, Landscp24! I grew up in extreme Southeast Missouri in the upper section of the Bootheel. There is plenty of dirty water, brush, and vegetation down there. I live in Northwest Missouri now. I looked up Black, Mo, and I see you live West of Johnson Shut-ins. I've never fished that area but there are a number of rivers in a 50 - 100 mile radius from you that contain smallmouth and largemouth bass. I don't know if you do much river fishing but that might be the solution to your fishing problems in that area. You might make a post in the Central Fishing section and someone near that area may be able to point you in the right direction. Again, welcome to our community!
