  1. This would be about right for me. On a day with a tough bite, you can commonly go 2 or 3 hours without a bite. If you stay a full day you give yourself more time to figure them out, or hit the bite window if there is only a short period of time when they are active.
  2. Nice fish, Hootie!
  3. That's a nice fish! I would guess around 5 lbs more or less, but pics can be deceiving.
  4. Nice fish! Nice work with the swimbait.
  5. Very nice fish.
  6. Popularity is overrated. Welcome back.
  7. In my earlier post, I stated that I don't keep detailed records like the OP presented in the initial post of this thread. However, I do keep up with numbers to some extent but I don't see much difference in saying I caught 45 fish and forgetting two or three for my records. My records are to help me in future fishing situations and those two or three I forgot about aren't going to matter. However, there is a big difference between forgetting two or three and not keeping track at all. I think it is good to know I caught 45 - 50 fish using this technique, in this area, at a particular time, while on another day with another technique under similar conditions I only caught 5 or 6. That is valuable information and the numbers are necessary to gauge what I should do in a similar situation in the future. It's not "all about the numbers" but it is about what works and what doesn't and putting that information to good use in the future. The size of these groups of fish is good to know too. If, in the situation above, the 5 or 6 fish caught were all lunkers while the 45 fish were all less than two pounds that is an important distinction if I am in pursuit of big fish.
  8. That's a nice looking momma. She does have some girth, doesn't she?
  9. Congratulations! Nice one.
  10. Wow. What a way to start. It was either beginner's luck or you just got hustled.
  11. When water temperatures are in the upper 40s and on down to the 30s, bass activity does decrease but good bite windows still occur. They may only last 30 minutes to an hour but during that time you have the chance to catch good fish. I want to be out there when that window occurs.
  12. Thanks for the additional info. I agree with concise and direct, but thorough is the last word I would use as an adjective for that review.
  13. Would you expound on that, please? Some detail as to what you liked and how it performed in actual fish catching situations would be enlightening.
  14. The number of fish you caught is quite impressive and if you enjoy doing this, by all means, continue. I keep what I believe to be necessary information. I am a stickler for research and being knowledgeable before I speak authoritatively on a subject, but filling my head and records with useless information can make it more difficult to locate the information I actually need. I keep track of environmental conditions and what worked as well as the general size and numbers of fish caught. Rarely do I need exact numbers to learn what works and what doesn't for future reference. The exception would be those days when I catch over a 100 fish, or an extraordinary number of lunker fish. I usually remember those numbers without even making note of them. Personal bests are an exception as well.
  15. Yeah, that's a big spot! Congratulations.
  16. Paul, I didn't know you were studying bass dentistry. Love the pics.
  17. That's a hoss! Excellent start to the Spring.
  18. I kind of get the "Big Eye" early in the Spring after the ice leaves the water, though this year there was little ice to speak of here. A good scale always renews my perspective. To the OP, nice solid fish!
  19. You're slamming them so often I am running out of superlatives to compliment you with! Simply outstanding!
  20. Nice bag of fish!
  21. Nice fish in the 6 - 7 lb range!
  22. Now that's a beast!
  23. I know this is about going back and changing things with regard to fishing but that would affect everything else in my life as well. There are things I regret from the past, but with time and wisdom, I accept that I wouldn't be who I am today, and I wouldn't necessarily have the relationships I currently have, if I hadn't traveled the road that I did. Despite having some pretty bad situations early in life that gave me a severe bout of stinking thinking that I had to correct, I wouldn't go back and change a thing.
  24. I posted this in the other Evers thread but I will post it here as well. Over the last few years my expectations for Evers have risen. It has been a while since I watched the show, The Bass Pros, but he was always the guy who seemed to catch the biggest fish in his teaching segments of the show. This caught my attention and led me to make note of the techniques and methods he uses. It seemed that he was due to hit pay dirt soon. We have seen him rise and compete for AOY honors as well. Though he hasn't won that yet, it wouldn't surprise me if he did at some point. So congratulations to him for a tremendous Classic win! He took a fairly mundane tournament with tough fishing for just about everyone, and turned it into a memorable, last minute, come from behind win.
