  1. 1/2 hr before sun-up and sometimes back to camp for lunch but mostly take lunch with....and stay out till after dark to get the topwater action....thats when the skeeter bugs get to feedin!!!
  2. I actually pulled a gag on a friend fishing just within earshot that it was a giant smally and went to hold it up for him to see and let it fall to the deck, and into the water.....He was absolutely beside himself in grief for me that I had lost a big fish that he had asked to see!!!
  3. Was fishing a Tournament on the Columbia River and hooked what I thought was the new record Smallie....Nose down...Digging...Nervous then it rolled on the surface....It was a 12 lb 2 oz. Carp!!! Great fighter!!! DropShot to the top of the mouth on 8 lb Izorline!!
  4. Gotta be some Northwest folks who wanna fish!!!! c'mon the fish are waiting!!! Just think how you will feel when you see the pics of all the fish...only without your mug holding 'em!!!
  5. Very well played Byron!!! Also a testament to bass fishing in general... A 70 year old and a 19 year old in the top ten!!! HOW MANY SPORTS CAN BOAST THAT!!! ;D
  6. Says his name is Kyle Gentry and the weight on the site is listed at 18.11
  7. Ill be there also from April 2-4th...Back in the dunes it looks like Luisiana with the willows...brush....spiders..beaver huts...yup good structure!
  8. With me withdrawing from the Pickwick Trip and having Vaca. accrued already is there any interest in a regional Roadtrip....say Potholes Reservoir near Moses Lake? I always hit this fishery this time of year and it is phenominal for big Smallies and Largemouth in big numbers..........let me know if interested...Warden lake resort can accomodate all of us and there is motels close by for those not camp ready....short notice but hey......it fishin right! ;D
  9. Well......with the collapse complete I am gonna cut my losses and stay local.....will post in Western Bass Fishing for the same week and see if there is an interest in a regional Roadtrip at Potholes Reservoir. Next year we'll make it happen!
  10. It should still be pretty low.....folks are catching good numbers of Smallies on Banks on Barker Flats and in Devils Lake.....they should be in the 20 ft. range these days.
  11. My tickets are paid for and well...as everyone knows....Im okay with fishin the bank!!!!
  12. Nice Goin Tom!!! Get some pics up of her when you get her so we can drool!!! ;D
  13. After having guys burn holes in carpet smoking... Spill worm dye on carpets.... Eat Peanuts and grind peanut butter into carpets Not offer anything for help with gas, launch fees. Bring way too much tackle/rods..... I still like having club backseaters as I like to learn and teach and share the experience of fishing. To see someone develop into a quality angler and more importantly ..A FRIEND is invaluable to me and keeps me grounded. And from becoming a "Tournament Brat" Teach them rules and ettiquet and they will prosper.
  14. I REALLY enjoyed looking at the engine of James Niggemeyers boat this morning.......especially enjoyed watching the reflection of him catching his first keeper of the day......GRRRRRRRRRRR frustrating!!!!!!!!! found myself yelling at the computer....HEY MARSHALL!!! LOOK AT THE FREAKIN CAMERA!!!!!
  15. #1...Black and Blue jig/trailer #2...Carolina rigged 4" Green Pumpkin Senko on a long leader...3-4 ft. #3...Dropshot tube bait...not shaken...the fish are skiddish so let them get a good look and smell Good Luck!!!
  16. I was a 17 minute guy..... My old department is doing a recruit class now...gonna swing by and look at the fresh meat!!
  17. By the time the tank reaches breach temperature the guy is a gonner anyways....but the tanks are hydrostat tested every 3-5 years if memory serves...and regular service and maintenance keep only the best stuff in service...now the rapid heat exposure these guys saw can cause a catastrphic failure in any equipment. Concussion and accelleration/decelleration seem to be the biggest reason for failure if maintenence is intact. Being a West-Coastie we have been conditioned through threat of termination and by L&I that any smoke / vapor environment will be a scenario for SCBA.....kind of overkill on big warehouse / apartment complexes but had gotten used to it.
  18. Absolutely Brian....Verticle ventilation with a coordinated interior hoseline would have done wonders with that fire... but not knowing the fireload or conditions of a boarded up seemingly abandoned structure might make me think Defensive Exterior attack only! Oh....and some more use of breathing apparatus would be good too!! Only saw maybe 6 of the 12 or so folks having them on.
  19. Okay.... #1....ask if anyone has a room....Answer yes. #2....It's not the last minute so dont cut and run... #3....if you have this "EGG"...why dont you just sign up???????
  20. 150 HP max for all tournies or at least divisions... Div #1 0-50 HP, Div.#2 50-100 HP, Div #3 100-150 HP, Div.#4 150-200 HP, Div #5 200 +. You can still have one event but 5 divisions of payouts and awards....would hopefully re-introduce the "Economy Class" interest in the vendors to improve the quality of the smaller craft lines...(Recession proofing!) Might be a good time to bring back the show "Bass Tech" for tricking out the smaller boats!! Also since it is held in one venue the "Stairstep" effect of progression in fishing is more prevelent when folks can see...first hand the next level they want to work up to and network with dealers and prostaff firsthand.
  21. Just noticed...or maybe I missed it.... There are no members from Alabama listed as signed up???? I'm coming all the way from Seattle and no one from the Home State????????????????? what better way to show off your home fishery than in person? CALLIN YOU OUT BAMA!!! :D :D :D
  22. Some of the best reasons I am going.... Looking forward to posting a bunch of new memories in May.......
  23. Ditto Rhino...outside of a picture and or an autograph YOU MUGS are what counts....as long as Simp does not outfish me!!!
  24. Fishing Rhino and myself have 1 maybe 2 beds avail in a cabin for those coming or riding the fence....the cost comes down with each person taking a bed so lets fill em up folks!!! P.S......the 15th is coming fast so we either fill em up or have to move to a room at the inn....Cabins are funner!!!
