  1. Its been about 10 years since I was in Tempe for school. If I recall if you fish the Urban lakes you need an additional Stamp as well as the normal fishing License. If you fish the other lakes I think they only require a fishing license. Close to Scottsdale and Urban Lakes: Tempe Town Lake - Basically man made, I've caught a number of bass out of it, I think all by drop shotting. It was a place that if I had 30 minutes I could fish it and normally catch at least 1. Papago Ponds or Kiwanis Lake - Never fished it but if I remember they stock with trout and have a resident bass population Little bit of a drive and your more traditional lakes. Pleasant, Roosevelt, Saguaro, Apache, and Bartlett. I've only fished the first 3 from a boat and probably the best were either Pleasant/Roosevelt. I again fished from a boat so don't know much about shore access but saw people fishing from the shore by the marinas for both.
  2. Shore fishing? Looking for urban lakes?
  3. S-waver or a Hudd 68
  4. Had a number of the Original Tatula Type Rs and also had a couple Elites and they are extremely light but one developed some drag issues. I ended up getting it fixed (basically replaced the drags) and switched over to the Tatula CT models. IMO Tatulas feel better in the palm and cast/wind better. You can get them pretty cheap on Ebay now
  5. Snag Proof Phat frog

Bought a couple jerkbaits as well and had one sinks pretty fast and the other 2 slowly float. Expect the usual variations in baits with the knockoff blanks
  7. 1. 4" Roboworm 2. 8" Hudd 3. 68 Hudd 4. 5" Senko 5. 68 Hudd
  8. Can you still fish it at night? I remember doing better at night in the summer time...granted this was 15 yes ago
  9. You can get Reactions Strike 8" Bass Harassers on eBay for less then $10. Have no idea if they are good or not. IMO Huddlestons are hard to beat
  10. I've seen guys fishing the Delta near Clifton Court Forebay. They basically just carry it down the rip-rap and launch. It's a protected Slough from the wind and tides
  11. I've done well punching from the shore on the CA Delta. Just need to get a little arc on your cast and I use a 1.5oz weight
  12. If you want Calicos it's Southern California for sure. Hiring a guide will be best. I used this guy years ago and it was great. calicohuntercharters.com
  13. Ditto on the Hudd 68....only one you need
  14. I switched to the Owner Single Hook replacement hooks on some of my Jerkbaits. I found when I get into a good striper bite, they help save my hooks and allow quicker catch and release. They are a bit lighter then the trebles I was replacing so factor that it
  15. I use a 2/0 EWG on a Baby Brush Hog and don't have an issue, if you are missing bites you may also try and use the 3/0 EWG instead.
  16. I primarily use the 6", I find that the smaller fish 12" usually don't bite it. I also see a majority of people using the 4" and 5" so I think a little bigger profile helps set it apart from other baits they have seen.
  17. I'm big on swim jigs during the prespawn, in green pumpkin, bluegill, or black/blue. You can't go wrong with senkos as well
  18. I've done well in the past focusing on the points of both Heron and Swallow bay during the pre-spawn...Also once the spawn starts the southeast part of the lake where the water flows in (assuming the lake is full, haven't been there this year). Its shallow and I've got a couple pigs out of there.
  19. You fishing from a boat or from shore? Big difference at Del Valle
  20. You can use Loctite...it makes them semi-permanent
  21. Have not fished at Chabot, out of the other 3 Del Valle is the best for bass. Agreed with above spend the time and hit the Delta
  22. Try Clifton Court Forebay. Close to the East Bay and you can walk quite a bit. The Slough side is better for LMBs and the forebay better for stripers
  23. I finally gave in and got the Bass Mafia box, not cheap but does a great job keeping things in place
