  1. I use it and haven't had a lot of issues. I think it helps me see the line better. I just add a fluorocarbon leader to it.
  2. I recommend Delaware Valley also. Mike treated me very fairly.
  3. Thanks! That's helpful feedback.
  4. Is x-fast the wrong action for fishing a spinnerbait? I'm considering a 6'10MHXF Compre but I want to be able to fish spinnerbaits with whatever I buy.
  5. I would like to learn how to pitch baits this summer. I have a 2009 Revo STX I want to use for that. It has the magnetic brakes on it. How do I set the brakes on it and how loose do you set your tension knob. I know when I tried it last time I got one of the worst backlashes I've had. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. That's what I'd like to accomplish. Now I have a tackle box, a smaller tackle bag/cooler and three of the speedbags for plastics. It would be nice to consolidate it into one bag.
  7. I have been considering buying the Plano 4880 KVD tackle bag. What are people who own this bags opinion of them? The one thing I'm wary of is how heavy it might become since its a large bag. I haven't seen a lot of reviews on these so I'm curious if it would be a good purchase or not.
  8. Which Dobyns Savvy would you recommend?
  9. I am looking for a new plastics rod. Thinking of a St Croix Avid 6'8 M XF. Any other suggestions to consider at this price point (around $170)? Is an Avid that much better than a Shimano Compre?
  10. I also would say Delaware tackle. I sent a box of reels to him after a fire and he got them fishing ready for me quickly.
  11. I really only have 4 or 5 worth messing with. I have 1Saros, 1 Symetre, 1Citica, 1 Revo STX, 1 Cabelas Prodigy Baitcasting. My other reels were sub $60 so I doubt it would pay to try to have them repaired.
  12. I can give that a try. thanks!
  13. Looking for some advice. We had a serious house fire 3 weeks ago. Luckily no one was home. Our garage where all my fishing equipment was got quite a bit of smoke damage. My rods/reels were smoke damaged. Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, how do you try to salvage your equipment? Unfortunately we were underinsured (Some advice: check your home insurance policy and make sure you have enough personal property coverage!) so I can't replace most of it but if anyone can give me some advice on how to clean my rods and reels I'd really appreciate it. I'm not very mechanical so I cringe at the thought of taking apart my reels! Is there a product that would do a good job cleaning my rods? Thanks for any help!
  14. I fished a Compre 66MH this morning and am happy with it.
  15. I'm hoping its good stuff. I bought my first tube yesterday!

I hope they are good. My wife got me 5 for $2 at a garage sale today.
  17. Anyone been throwing the Lindy shadlings this spring? The action looked really good at the sports show I attended and I was wondering if anyone was doing well with them.
  18. Do people use braid to throw crankbaits? I just bought a 7' moderate fast action spinning rod that I was going to use for throwing smaller crankbaits. I was thinking braid for manageability on a spinning reel but does the non stretch make it a bad choice?
  19. Its great to be raising up some new fishing buddies. My grandsons are all a little too young yet but I hope I'll be fishing with them soon.
  20. Ordered the Techna AV today (around $100 including shipping) and am excited to get out and give it a try!
  21. Thanks for the input!
  22. If you could buy an older Fenwick Techna AV spinning rod or the current Shimano Compre for about the same price which would you choose and why. I believe they both have lifetime warrantys.
  23. I ended up with a Revo STX to put on a Techna AV I bought last fall and $50 in Cabelas cards. I was pretty happy with this.
  24. Cabelas has a 5'6 or 6' UL XML spinning rod (regular price $139) for $49.99. You could add a Pflueger Trion reel for about $40. Could be a good solution.
