Old Sears Ted Williams Outboard
http://www.geocities.com/scottmc9hp/ This guy has some links to other sites that might help. I was interested in your post because of the Ted Williams mention. My dad was a "Splendid Splinter" fan and people used to say he'd buy anything that his name was on. A friend of mine used to have a Ted Williams outboard and I forget what size, it was under 10hp I'm sure. He still lives down the street and if I bump into I'll ask. We used to fish with it a lot and I don't really remember mixing the fuel. There are some people that collect and rebuild old outboards and I'm sure they'd help out. I saw some on the net when I was looking for antique lures. Google Search, I did one for "Ted Williams outboard manual" and found that one guys site and the eBay listings.

why do people hate this guy?
I honestly can't think of anyone associated with fishing I hate or even dislike. I run into people locally that are rude and obnoxious, but I figure they're rude people who just happen to fish occasionally. Byron seems to have a great sense of humor and the whole West Coast thing is his schtick. I think them guys didn't get the respect in the bass world they felt they deserved. I remember in the early days of BASS not hearing a single person that didn't have a southern accent. That has changed and the west coast fishing styles are sure catching on now. Hey, Byron. East Coast is still number #1, though Now get a haircut, hippie.

Any good bass fishing magazines?
Nope, none at all . I used to get Bassmaster, but since the internet I can't keep up with all the info. Everything is right on this site.

PETA tournament alert
Oh please, if anyone hears of this happening near them, I want one. What great toy. We can just net them and see what the "owners" have to say when they try and get them back.

PA FISHERMAN?! -Is anyone out there?-
What ever happened to the originator of this thread? I see it says ex-member that is why I didn't respond, but I see some of you have picked it back up again. I live on the Berks/Montgomery County border in the Boyertown School District. I've been on disability since 1995 after my 4th back surgery failed and the doctor told me I'd never be able to do an 8 hr job. I took up computers as a hobby in the late 80's and now work at home repairing PC's to make extra money. Anyhow, I have 3 kids and only one is still in school which gives me the freedom to fish pretty much whenever I'm able. I only have little jon boat which I usually only use when my son is home from college. We fish Nockamixon and the nearby Towhee. Green Lane reservoir and the Boyertown reservoir are only a few minutes away and I make a lot of trips there during the day to bank fish. We checked Out Marsh Creek and Lake Galena when my son was on Spring Break, both are going to be added to our regular spots for the boat. My favorite lately has been Hopewell Park. I can take the boat there by myself and use it because if my back goes out the park station is nearby to get help. Lots of bass there, but we're also trying to land one of the pike that lay deep near its dam. Good Day, Bill

Depth Finder reset button?
I picked up a Bottom Line Tournament 1100 last year for $50 (refurb). The thing works fantastic for my little boat. I was looking for a new location to mount it and had the bracket off the back of it and noticed and small hole with tape over it. It looks like it would be a reset button hole, but you can reset it from the power and menu buttons on front. Does anyone know if that is a reset button in case of a problem with the front panel or could it be for some type of calibration? The thing works fine and I don't plan on experimenting, there is no mention in the manual about it either. I'd like to know in case of future problems. Thanks, Bill

boat for me and the bro
For what it is worth, don't do what I did. I waited around for years hoping my back would get better and I could get back to work and buy a nice Bass boat. That little jon boat sat around for years even after I knew I could have it for free. Finally, one day I just went and got it, didn't even have any tie down stuff. My brother in-law threw in the roof with no racks and we tied it down with rope for the 30 mile drive home by myself with my free hand out the window holding it from sliding around. It is small and uncomfortable and my son and I whack each other every once in awhile, but I curse myself for not doing it 10 years ago.

boat for me and the bro
You can get a Tracker 1032 for @ $400 New! http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=1882 I have one the same size and I can slide it on top my Cherokee by myself and I had 4 unsuccessful back surgeries. Weighs 80 Lbs, I think and mine is about 46" wide on the roof racks. My brother in-law had it laying beside his garage for over 10 years and gave it to me for free.

Enough is enough!!!
I haven't seen people this fired up since Hillary Clinton came around. Seriously, it sounds like pundits on TV talking about politics sometimes and following politcal debate is another hobby of mine. It gets so heated that you need a break and that is what fishing is all about. Enough is Enough? I vote: YES!

CBS's interview with Mac Weakley
I wouldn't believe anything from CBS. I checked the link and the caption on the picture is wrong right from the start. Weakley isn't the one holding the fish according to all other accounts.

*Breaking News*.... Not seeking record!
At least at this tiny lake there aways seems to be witnesses around and they are prepared for world record catches there. Everybody knows that she is in there and I believe most or all of the lake is visible from shoreline (I know we have locals here that can verify that). We may actually get to see the record broken on video/pictures or at least witnessed by others. Had there not been witnesses these guys could have easily had a great shot at the prize and I don't for one minute think they would've done that.

Fresh Bait...Newbie here...
Welcome, Spoonbill Catfish huh? I had to look that up. We call 'em Paddle Fish. We have them in parts of PA, western part I think.

22lbs 7oz reported from Dixon Ca
I didn't read every post, but the story I read on another site was that of anglers knew the giant fish was there on a bed and had lined up to get a crack at her. He had a camping permit and got first shot. Witnesses saw him catch the fish and it was obvious that it was foul hooked. However, in CA that still could be considered a leagal catch. I went to bed last night wondering if that fish would bite again in a day or so or if the trauma of being caught that way would keep her gun shy for a while.

Catch and keep
I was planning on asking the first Fish and Game Agent I run into this year about keeping Bass in certain waters. I've never thought much about until last year when I ran into a guy keeping a stringer of 15-18" Largemouth at one reservoir I was going to for the first time. He said there are so many that size in there that they needed to be thinned out. I didn't keep any, but I fished there about 10 times last year and only caught 2 or 3 bass bigger than 18". The last few times I went there 2 women were fishing and keeping their catch in a bucket. They where panfishing, but I may think about giving people some of my smaller legal bass this year at that lake if management thinks it will help the larger bass.

Gimme some tube tips!
Used a tube bait last year for the first time myself after sitting in my tackle bag for months. I pulled over by an old reservoir on my way home from a trip and caught 2 bass on my first 2 casts from the bank. They where from a 4Pak of GitZits. Needless to say I have a whole stock of different type now and bought a spiining setup to use with them. Although, I plan T-Rig'n them more with a baitcaster this year.

At What Time Did You Catch Your PB??
Mine was late morning too. I think my sons was early afternoon. I never really thought about that before. I usually try to hit the water early and then have to leave by lunker time(apparently). I guess them guys launching when I'm coming off the water aren't just late sleepers after all. Very interesting, Indeed!!

big baits draw big strikes
Really! If that IS photoshopped, they should've added a steel leader connected to the front of the Kayak heading off the end of the picture and maybe a treble hook dangling underneath it. Sort of a Land of the Giants theme.

big baits draw big strikes
The Old Man and the Sea? The phrase, "going to need a bigger boat" comes to mind too. Just some movie references that come to mind.

PREDICT your '06 hawg
5 Lb 5 Oz is the number I'm hunting here in PA. My son caught a 5lb 4oz last year and I realized I haven't caught a 5Lbr in about 20 years. In fact my largest last year was probably a Smallmouth about 4lbs. Last year was our first using a boat so I have no excuse now. He already caught one 5Lber this week and one close to 4 on the next cast.

North American Fishing Club Tester
I just got the packet in the mail too. I'm going to give it a try. I think I got an offer from them years ago, but didn't take them up on it. I was a member of different stuff in the 80's, but after we started having kids I let most of my fishing mags and stuff expire.
