  1. I have some size D thread you can have if Blvd doesn't find his stash. Just send me your address.
  2. I would do this only if I were fishing it in cover.
  3. Yes, but using a 1/0 wide gap or a 1/0 drop shot, nose hooked. Caught a couple of 5 and 6 lbs'ers, a few 3's, etc... Had it about 2.5'-3' up from the weight which makes casting with a bc challenging; doable but challenging.
  4. Can you believe they didn't test it with a Shimano? Clearly that voids any credibility of the reviewers.
  5. Most likely Nikwax TX-Direct Wash In. It's a good DWR; many people prefer the spray on's and many prefer the wash-in's. Wash your Gore-Tex garments regularly as the dirt impacts the DWR. Here's a good read: http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/washing+goretex+outerwear.html Or Goretex themselves: http://www.gore-tex.com/remote/Satellite/content/care-center/washing-instructions
  6. It's mine. Appreciate you finding it; must have drifted closer to that stump over the past few months. I'll PM you my address to send it back to.
  7. Omni-Tech is Goretex, just Columbia's implementation of it. I can only assume the DWR has worn off the outer layer resulting in the water not beading on the coat (see Dr. Leo's post). The end result is the fabric (outside layer protecting the teflon waterproof inner layer) feels cold and clammy making you feel wet while not actually being wet. This is normal and is the whole point to waterproof fabrics having a DWR coating on them. The reason you don't get this with PVC is because water naturally beads/isn't retained on the PVC. Dr. Leo doesn't feel cold and wet because his are insulated and the insulation keeps the cold/clammy water soaked layer off his skin.
  8. Wire is also great if you want a lot of strands - since you don't have to work them through an opening. Having said that, I band mine as I only make as many as I need and then make more on the fly if required.
  9. No, but he's been extremely courteous and continuously posts trying to help out others. No doubt that translates into his actual work as well.
  10. Well, in spite of Bobby's annoying posts I have to admit I'm a big Megastrike fan and will not work a plastic without it. I have some Lunkersauce but haven't tried it yet. (ok, ok, I'm kidding about Bobby's posts, but you gotta admit, his stalking of B___dozer is kinda creepy....) :)
  11. ;D Stealing a play from the master's own playbook - nice.
  12. It's interesting that in his Day on the Lake video he mentions he doesn't like long trailers. i.e. prefers the Rage Chunk over the longer Craw or Lobster. He wants the bass to be able to put the whole thing in it's mouth right away.
  13. Thread and epoxy are fine, it's the guides, reel seat and handles you have to check. If you want a kit, get the MHX kit; dollar for dollar it can't be beat. However, one of us could assist you through spec'ing everything you'd need from Mudhole for a non-kit build, which is even better. PM me if you want help - it's not complicated.
  14. I guess our frame of reference is different... I find it works very well on spinning gear IF you manually close the bail and give the line a little tug before you cast. I find fused Fireline to be quite flat and because of the coating, not particularly soft. It does soften as you break it in. What size? I used 10-15lbs for my spinning gear? I agree it softens as you break it in, much like Suffix. Maybe they changed how they make it as I haven't used it for a few years now?
  15. Crystal will work fine on a spinning reel - no memory, very round, and very soft. I've used it on spinning reels for several years.
  16. Vegetation clogging the guides is something to be considered, particularly if you fish a lot of hair-algae. More of a nuisance than anything.
  17. It's amazing what "free" does for innovation.
  18. 0, unless you're throwing into the wind. I don't thumb any of my reels - STX/Shimano/Diawas/Bpro except when it hits the water (or into the wind). The more you practice on different reels, the greater your overall casting skill will be.
  19. All braid, even Fireline (which I love), will snap. Just because it hasn't happened to someone doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
  20. Not easier, less number of individual wraps (feet/guides) but probably about the same actual amount of thread being wrapped since the spinning feet are much larger. Either way, the difference is so small it should not factor in your equation at all. Here's a link with some good beginner info: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1170958187
  21. Which model hard gill floater and what presentations? I have the Crappie floater but haven't had any luck with it yet.
  22. You bought a rod a few minutes earlier and they gave you more in credit than what you paid for it? Did you lose the receipt in between walk's to/from mom's car? Did you not mention their error to them?
  23. I think you've been spending too much time with Bassclary. Let me try again. 1 camp says he's not versatile because all he now throws is cranks. The other camp says he is incredibly versatile, or the most versatile fisherman out there. This camp, however, is simply stating this without either refuting the crank claim, or providing evidence that KVD has been using all of the other techniques as of late. I don't know either way, nor do I care. Frankly he could be the Denny Brauer of cranks, and if that's how he dominates, then that's all he really needs to be good at. But then I wouldn't say he was "versatile" either.
