  1. Outboard Motor Lock and bolt the motor to the transom
  2. Putting the magazine under your arm pit will make you cast with your arm from the elbow forward. You want your rod to do the casting not your arm, have you ever seen someone casting a Fly Rod? Notice the rod while they are casting, it's the same with a bait casting rod except you don't need the whole arm movement because you aint moving that much line like a fly rod. A heavy stiff rod is the hardest to cast with because there is less flex in the rod unless you're using a heavy weight.

The handle is cast aluminum and the 2 brass colored pieces are anodized aluminum; add to these the weight of the reel and multiply this weight times probably 1,000 to 1,500 cast a day with spinner bait and you'll have an idea of what pressure it would put on your joints.
  7. I do believe if you get into a "feeling" contest with the fish, you will lose every time, so I avoid this by setting hook on any thing unusual. Many times with a Texas Rig or Jig-N-Craw the bass will simply inhale you bait and not move, it's what is known as sitting on your bait. If you wait for line movement you'll miss every one of these fish. I always teach a newbie to find an area of clear water with different types of bottom (sand, sparse grass, rock), cast your worm and work it back feeling how each type feels, even go as far as closing your eyes. Once you have truly learned what this feels like and while you are fishing if you feel anything different drop the rod, reel the slack, & set the hook.

When I started fishing tournaments seriously it was with an Abu Garcia 5000 on a Heddon Mark Special 5' 6 fiberglass rod pictured below. This setup weighed between 2 to 3 pounds, even at 21 years of age and a carpenter 10 to 12 hours of tournament fishing killed my arms. I thanked God every night for Ben Gay When Shimano introduced its Bantam 100 and Fenwick introduced its graphite rod I was one of the first in line to buy one regardless of price. It was all about comfort not name brand and yes it did make me a better angler due to the fact I could now fish 10-12 hours with out being wore out. Does a newbie angler need a $500 rod and a $500 reel to be successful absolutely not; I've caught thousands of bass on Bantam 100s and Lighting rods. The only tool needed to catch bass is your brain
  9. RWHusker I just checked and I can't find Nebraska any where on LSU schedule, but I do hope y'all put USC in their place
  10. The difference between saltwater/freshwater series is the cost & the color :-/ I run a freshwater series Minn Kota in saltwater with absolutely no problems
  11. It's ole school but it works; roll up a magazine, place it under you arm, and cast with out dropping the magazine. You aint good enough yet to even attempt a back hand cast, cast over handed until you can control the direction and don't try for distance. Let the rod do the casting not you arm because your rod is better suited for casting than your arm. Oh and by the way be sure your reel is set up properly
  12. Shad: capable of out maneuvering a bass through out the water column Frog: by no means a slow swimmer & can escape by going ashore Crawfish: capable of fast movement but only for short distances & confined to the bottom Which do you think will be the easiest far a bass to catch? Feed efficiently (maximize food intake and minimize energy output
  13. While it's called a Texas Rigged Jig I think I should rename the Mookie Jig
  14. Actually I conformed what I had thought all along, I was given the back set for a reason, so I could be front ended.
  15. Michigan Wolverines gets national respect if they can find away to knock off the Ohio State Buckeyes, offense they have 18 returning starters and on defense they have 18 returning starters.
  16. Exactly George! Bass Feed efficiently Maximize food intake (they biggie size it) Minimize energy output (they get it at the drive through window)

  18. One should take every team in the SEC serious or you'll find yourself with a loss Really, how good is the SEC? To feed the ego a little more, the league has gone 7-1 in the BCS since 2001, with two national titles, and the lone blemish was Georgia's 38-35 upset loss to West Virginia in the 2006 Sugar Bowl. In that same time span, the Big Ten went 4-6 (with Ohio State winning three of those), the Big 12 went 3-6, and the ACC was 0-6.
  19. Vegas has LSU +16.5 to +18.5
