Boat Owner Etiquette thread questions
I fished the marshes of Southwest Louisiana where traveling is mainly done in boat trails, fishing is done in canals, pot holes, and small lakes. When a boat approaches on plan any one fishing the area points their bow into the wake with their trolling motor. The reason for this is most boat trails or open water areas are at best 16 to 20 deep so dropping off plan could mean not getting back on plan. In the main canals you drop off plan and idle by any boat stopped or on their trolling motor. This is law and is strictly enforced by Game Wardens

Diane and I are old friends She is one woman who has taught me a lot; not just about fishing, and hopefully she learned a thing or two from me. Be careful hanging around LBH! I mean the name implies a low paid hooker :

Start of Bass fishing?
On Toledo Bend the bass will go to pre-spawn even if the water is 35 to 40 degrees and as early as January but this year it looks like late December

Anyone else in college football withdrawal?
- Why two bowl games in Tempe? Are they in the same stadium? Don't know probably $$$$ - Is the NC the right match up? As far as the BCS is concerned - Will a playoff system ever take off? I doubt it, to much money involved - Will the "short" horns ever make it back to the top? They will stay in the top 10 - Can Boise State make a statement vs. OU? Why certainly - Will my Aggies beat Cal My money is on the Aggies

Good friends with LBH? Guess I can over look that and welcome you any way! You wouldn't by chance know Diane (Reelwoman) Johnson; she is the Youth director of New Jersey BASS FEDERATION Youth.

What makes you PRO?
There are tournament trails that cater to Pro anglers by making certain rules about entry fees as the way of defining what a Pro angler is. This rule allows the Pro to enter an Amateur/Semi Pro tournament; however does not insure a win for the Pro; I compare this to a Nextel Cup driver in a Busch race. Is it fair to the Amateur/Semi Pro angler? Personally it doesn't bother me because I both beaten and have been beaten by these anglers. As far the comments about buying your way into the Pro rankings let's examine farther earthworms post. Since hurricanes Katrina/Rita there are thousands of new construction companies but just because some one can swing a hammer does not make him a carpenter. Oh by the way the IRS could care less what you put under occupation on your tax forms, their only concern is your gross income and the percentage your paid towards income tax.

Low Water
This year Toledo Bend was 11 feet below normal pool, the key depth for finding bass is normally 15 feet. The bass are still relating to the shore line & the ridges, the humps, the drop offs, ECT in 15 foot. The only real change is all my GPS locations are now useless :'(

T-Rig worms / tips & tricks
I'm a huge fan of Gene Larew & Ring Rascal ring worms; the rings give the bait a fatter profile while the core gives you less plastic for the hook to penetrate. The rings also offer a softer feel when mouthed by the bass resulting in the bass holding on longer.

aint politically correct
avid, it ain't politically correct to mention or make reference to Christ or God cause it might offend someone of a different religion. Its ok as long as you don't mention or make reference to the God who has a son named Jesus.

For the AVERAGE Guy - Rods and Reels
All the tackle in world will not make you a "successful" bass fisherman It takes time on the water learning how to locate fish holding structure be it shallow or deep; from the shore or from a boat. My stats come after 35 years of fishing Toledo Bend in every conceivable situation and every season of the year. Ask Ronnie, roadwarriow, avid, George Welcome or even Doug Hannon there is no substitute for time on the water.
