Rough sand entire bottom and 3 up the side then paint it with fiberglass resin. This will form a slick surface that will produce less drag, slides on the trailer easier, slides through weeds easier, will not peel, lighter than Rhino liner and numerous other advantages.

Fish on the Bottom When I'm fishing during the wintertime, I usually relate to the bottom. That's where I'm trying to find the bass I'm not looking for suspended winter fish. I'm looking primarily for fish that are relating to some type of structure, whether it is a brush pile or a treetop that has been put on the bottom. For some reason, rock cover is very attractive to bass in the colder water situations. Some of my best winter fishing has been on steep rocky banks. Remember that deep is relative to the part of the country you're fishing. Five feet may be deep on some Florida lakes while in the Midwest you could be looking at a 25- to 30- foot zone. The weight of the jig you fish should change with depth. If I'm looking at the 5-foot zone, a heavy jig could be 3/8 ounce. If I'm looking at 25 feet, I'm probably going to be looking at a ½ to ¾ ounce bait. Fish Slowly I want to get that bait down to the fish. I want to maintain contact with the bottom. Try to crawl the bait along the bottom in short spurts, basically dragging it. You don't want to sweep it off the bottom like you would during the summer. To repeat: winter jig fishing means a slow, tedious retrieve with pauses between movements of the bait. Often that's what it takes to get some of the sluggish wintertime bass to bite.

Doug Hannon's Answer (Big Bass Magic) Plastic Worm (Texas rigged) It's a long, thin shape resembles the profile of a wide variety of forage in the world of the bass, including earthworms, snakes, eels, and baitfish. Its action is almost entirely dependent on the contours of the bottom; and the rod movements of the fisherman, making it very random. It moves with little noise; the noise that it does make comes mostly from the random clicking of the sinker as it hits bottom. Bright colors and larger size can be used to increase its attracting qualities. Because of its basic resemblance to a wide array of living forage, this lure presents very few negative cues, and is hard for big bass to learn not to hit. Here is the official answer: Studies have proven that the plastic worm is the only lure made that a BASS CANNOT REMEMBER! That is, a bass will continue to strike a worm even after repeated catches, whereas a bass will "turn off" to other lures, spinner baits and crank baits etc. after wearing them out on them. That's why you cannot continue to catch them on your honey hole with the same lure over and over. Bass will stop eating that which will eradicate them. Not true with the plastic worm, however. Although we all know bass will prefer a different bait at different times (i.e. "the pattern") you can always go back to the worm to catch them.

No way Ronnie it was recently invented in California for fishing deep water; that would be like me saying I fished Carolina Rigs with live shrimp or live cocaho minnow in salt water when we all known it came from Carolina and was invented for bass fishing. avid like any technique you can vary the retrieve to suit the water you're fishing, I cast a drop shot and slowly drag it back to the boat while sitting on main lake structure.

In cold water fishing conditions the rate of fall is the most important factor and this can be accomplished with either small or large baits. Small baits do not have to be a tiny perch jigs and large baits do not have to be a 10 worm.

I was sitting on a stump field in 18' of water slowly working a Texas Rig when there came that little tail tale tap. Dropped the rod, reeled the slack, set the hook and it sets hook back. Get her up to where I could see her when she sounded taking me to my knees in the process. Got her up again but she quickly sounded again only this time the reel came out of the reel seat hitting the last eye on the rod snapping the line and falling over board. I stood up screaming damm that was a hawg and then screamed damm that was my reel. I aint saying how big she was but definitely Share-A-Lunker quality The reel was a brand new Abu Garcia Eon on a Cabala's Fish Eagle II rod, the rod a defective the back part was built to shallow far the reel to fully seat. Haven't bought a Cabala's rod or an Abu Garcia since.

Any time you and/or Matt want to fish the big pond let me know 8-) If I can't met y'all I can tell where to catch em year round I would like to fish Fork but at night

I'll start early pre-spawn in a couple of weeks and the #1 pattern will be main lake point with Spinner Bait, Rat-L-Traps, or Carolina Rigs. By mid January I'll move onto secondary points and mouths of feeder creeks with the same lures and adding Texas Rigged lizards.
