swimjig/jig hookup ratio?
Question When y'all are throwing Texas Rigs do y'all use extra strong punch hooks for everything? Why y'all throwing jigs with extra stout hooks? A jig imitates a crawfish correct? Yes I believes they do A crawfish has a hard shell does it not? Yes they in fact have a hard shell Why would a bass spit what it preceives to be a crawfish because it feels somthing hard? When the bass "crushes" the jig to kill it; it feels the hardness of a shell, the softness of the skirt, & the firmness of the trailer just like a crawfish. Tell me again what y'all waiting on!

swimjig/jig hookup ratio?
Hack Attack Fluorocarbon Flippin Jig or Santone Lures Chris McCall Rayburn Swim Jig Both have extremely stout hooks that are thinner diameter requiring less force for penetration. Rayburn Swim Jig has a thinner weed guard.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I ain't been fishing much lately, too much spent in examination rooms. I hearing the lake is fishing very well with pretty much any technique working shallow or deep. The up coming Big Bass Spash should feature some really nice fish. I will predict 10.5-11# to win overall & 4.5 to cut a check.

What am I missing???? lol
A lot of what anglers believe is stretch is actually a bow in your line both above & below the surface. This is especially true when casting any distance. We have to remove this bow before anything takes place. I've been told I will miss bites simply because when a bass picks up my worm/jig off the bottom I want feel it because of stretch. That's simply untrue! I've also been told my hooksets will not be solid because of stretch. When I sethook yes my Big Game starts to stretch but my rod starts flex overcoming that stretch. Next my rod starts to rebound & I turning the handle the whole time moving more line. It all works in unison y'all

Wondering what I'm missing
What's the size of "kicker" fish in your area?

Cheap grilling meats...
Country style pork ribs Country-style ribs don’t actually come from the rib area of a pig. Instead, they come from the shoulder area — specifically from the fatty, muscular section of the shoulder blade near the loin. When country-style ribs have a bone in them, it is not rib bone but the scapula or shoulder blade.

What am I missing???? lol
It's a fine balance between tension & slackness that comes with experience. The idea is to feel the bass before it feels you. This is the reason I don't wait to see the actual line movement. You know like anglers wait to see a couple feet of movement, aka let em have it. Sorry but I done set hook! This bass here all I saw was like someone strummed a guitar string. It vibrated where the line entered the water but with tiny rings about an inch in diameter. Drop the rod, reel the slack, & set the hook...11.3#!

What am I missing???? lol
For me feeling a worm/jig bite requires keeping a certain amount of tension on my line while at the same time keeping a certain amount of slackness in my line. With braid I'm constantly trying to keep that tension/slackness by a slight turn of the reel handle or slightly moving the rod tip. I don't wanna do that! I want my lure perfectly still, my line perfectly still, my rod perfectly still, & my hands perfectly still. This is time for 100% consatration! You want your lure in the strike zone longer? Quite moving it!

How many stretch there soft plastics as far as they can despite the bait monkey keeping you well supplied
You can have lures in your tackle box or fish in your livewell...you can't have both. If any lure I buy catches one bass it did it's job!

What am I missing???? lol
I totally & completely disagree. Everything you're describing I feel with monofilament. Is there going to be a pronounced "feel/sensitivity" with braid? Absolutely but to say there's none with monofilament is in my opinion BS. Something with "feeling" a bass pickup your worm off the bottom, no stretch can occur. Look at every test on monofilament stretch & you will see they are preformed by attaching one end of the line to an immovable object and the other end is attached to some mechanical apparatus that applies an unusually high amount of pressure. That ain't how it works in reality! I just threw a 4' piece of mono on the coffee table...it didn't stretch.

Senko Chaser
@KSanford33 Welcome to marsh fishing 101! Been doing this since the late 60s, back then it was a Johnson spoon & pork chunk followed up with a t-riggged worm. Any time I'm throwing a topwater of any kind in open water or cover I have a Texas Rig handy. Another reason I keep a Texas Rig on deck 24/7/365!

Senko 5" Rigging Preference ?
Rate Of Fall ? Which do ya think weighs more 1/0 Wacky Rig hook or a 4/0 EWG? Ya want a faster ROF during pre-spawn & a slower ROF during post spawn.

What am I missing???? lol
Neither Fluorocarbon or Braid is gonna fix an interpretation problem. Anglers that are really good with bottom contact presentation don't necessarily have more "sensitive" equipment, they are better at interpreting what's being felt. We talk about has easy it is to feel a spinnerbait bite. IDK! I've set hook on a lot of limbs, stumps, grass. Was it because my Big Game wasn't sensitive enough? No, my interpretation was wrong! The spinnerbait stopped instinct kicked in...oops!
-
What am I missing???? lol
Some of y'all got reading comprehension problems! His is definitely "feeling" the bites, his interpretation of what being felt is wrong. Those thumps, bumps, taps, line movement, & surface explosions are easy to interpret. Go back to the old saying, when in doubt, drop the rod, reel the slack, & set the hook!
-
What am I missing???? lol
Ya having trouble feeling the bite blame your equipment! NO! Look in the mirror & you'll see your problem! The problem ain't what you're feeling, It's how you're interpreting it. Question, in your mind what do you think a bite should feel like?
