Nope! Around here there's plenty Alwelds, Edge, Excel, & Xpress boats.

While these a fun subjects to discuss, they're not something I dwell on or even consider when leaving the house.

With seven "3700" boxes the handles are a little on the short side. But you have to keep in mind not all manufacturers "3700" series boxes are the same. Personally I'd rather it be tight than loose. Now mine is 4-5 years old & I haven't been in BPS in over a year so I haven't compared it to new ones.

Give me something I can work on top, something I can run 4-6' deep, & something I manipulate on the bottom. Look at the shoreline, not where it goes from wer to dry. Pick your head up & look at the topography around the body of water. Look for vegetation along & in the water. Look for "wood", brush/timber, look for rock. Feel for hard spots!

Backlash, how long do you work... Until I get my pocket knife out! I generally don't backlash that bad unless I hit something on the back cast.

You just described where every bass down here lives. It's not uncommon for bass to suspend under shad that are suspended offshore & you'll see a streak on your electronics as bass flashes through the shad. Were the bass active or not? Never bed fished?

Here's a simple starting point an old guide told me years ago on Toledo Bend. Turn around! ? For every bass you catch on the bank there's 5 behind you waiting to be caught! Instead of casting towards the shoreline, cast in front of the boat.

Bass are predators & will eat whenever the opportunity arises. With that in mind explain to me how y'all know if a bass are "active" or not? Or they know the structure & body of water extremely well. A lot of offshore bass I catch I do not see on my electronics. As far how much time I spend on a piece of cover or structure varies from day to day & sometimes hour to hour depending on changing conditions.

Guys down here in the south are very adept in catching "suspended offshore" bass from years of fishing channel swings, ledges, ect. We know how to catch em, we just gotta find em. Farword facing sonar speed up the whole find em process. There's no "simplified" way to fish structure, ya gonna have to spend time looking.

Unless actually feeding all bass are considered "inactive". Doesn't mean they're uncatchable. Farword facing sonar is pretty much proving suspended bass fishing is like bed fishing. Ya gotta figure out what irritates em, triggers em, fires em up. This technique of targeting suspended, inactive bass isn't new to the experience "offshore" anglers. Forward facing sonar eliminates a lot of the time required to locate this fish.

Depending on the size of the body of water there is a resident population of bass that are shoreline related. There's also a resident population of bass that stay offshore & never see a shoreline their entire life. Forward facing sonar has blown that theory to hell!

Here we go again! Every spring the same questions! Yes bass will spawn in water temperatures way lower than 60-67, at depths greater than you would imagine, & earlier in the year than you think. Think @Glenn has a video!
