  1. That's not always true, in fact fishing around Paris Landing last year at the time BASS came it was dead in that area. People were catching fish south around New Johnsonville, and north around the dam, the middle was horrible. My dad's buddy who was a marshal in it was with the guy that ran to Barkley, he asked the pro why he was passing all of that up and the pro said because he didn't know how to fish Ky lake. So it's a neccessity sometimes, that's why Rick Clunn struggled, he always fished barkley when they went out of the dam. I believe if Van Dam would have fished big sandy he would have won that tournament but he went north.
  2. lol, seriously. It could be but I have personally seen a few houses that have been built that are just as extreme as that when I used to read electric meters.
  3. Only one pro ? As far as I have heard that's the only big pro using them.
  4. Checked one of mine the other day, they don't even have the higher end reels in a display case anymore.
  5. Ott Defoe is using their rods.
  6. The first two that come to my mind for the low miles are it could have been a lease vehicle and it could have been repossessed and bought at auction. I would also get the car fax report for the vehicle before buying.
  7. Lucky sob, I only found one book for a class I have, and it turns out I don't need it at all. : I'll keep checking it though, because it looks like I might be able to get a deal someday.
  8. I have 8 lb. on my jerkbait rod, it works just fine.

  10. That picture was taken in Texas, I've seen it posted on other websites claiming it was taken in Ky, West TN, Ala, and MO. There is a link that says it really is from Texas, but I can't find it, but here's another link. Just scroll down. http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/scattershooting/C483/
  11. The farthest I've done is roughly 50 miles roundtrip. Some of the pros during last year's Ky lake tourney went from Paris, Tn to Barkley lake. I believe they were running 70+ miles one way.

Go with a shotgun for self defense at home, one with a short barrel for maneuvering. If you think you can get to your safe in time to grab it and be ready that would be the place to store it- but I don't think anyone can have that speed needed to do that at 2 a.m. and being woken up from a dead sleep. Keep it under the bed or beside it, and shells in the magazine not in the chamber. I would imagine that sound a thief hears of a shotgun being shucked and loaded will make them get out and fast. You can also start with gun safety for your children by showing and telling them that a gun is dangerous. I know she's 2 but you can train kids at that age by associating a gun with a word, and repeatedly practicing at that.
  13. I just saw a commercial on Saturday that all three of them had went "orange". ;D I guess that's what you get when you watch the Charlie Moore show. I can see why everyone doesn't like him, but I couldn't turn the channel for some reason. :-/
  14. Me and a buddy are starting up a new club this spring. We will be fishing Kentucky/Barkley lakes, as well as the cumberland river. If you are interested please send a pm with your questions. We will have a meeting either at the end of Jan. or beginning of Feb. This is set up in an FLW format- boaters vs. boaters, co's vs. co's.
  15. x2 The spring classic is coming up at the end of Feb. and you will be getting that reel at 80 bucks. And if they still have the reel trade in program you can probably get for even less. At $80 I'm thinking that is with the reel trade in, but they could have them on sale as well and get it for less than that.

  17. That's exactly what were told in the class as well as most gun fights last 3-5 seconds, and to practice exactly like you said. I shoot my 9mm pretty well but I will be getting a sub compact or compact 40 S&W to carry. In Tennessee you have to have a CC permit to have a pistol on you. You can open carry after you get the permit if you want, but not before.
  18. Remington 870- I have the super magnum model that shoots up to 3 1/2" shells. I use it for dove, duck, and goose hunting. It's easy to take apart and clean and very durable. If you are going to use it for deer I would suggest buying a rifled barrel for it- it will make it a lot more accurate.
  19. Haha, when I took the class for my permit that's what it looked like some people were doing. I just got all the paperwork done today for my carry permit so now it's just a waiting game. 8-)
  20. Do you shoot with one eye closed or both eyes open? I have one buddy that has to close one eye to hit anything, and another that has to kind of **** his head and gun slightly to the side- he's a lefty.
  21. That's the truth, on the news last night they showed people at the grocery store buying up groceries like we were about to witness an ice age. :
  22. It was in general fishing for a few minutes this morning. Take a look at falcon rods- the original and bucoo are in your range, and the lowrider isn't too much more.
  23. Try . and go the the bassboat restoration forum- they will give you some good advice, as well as many other threads there that will give you a starting point. I'll pm you the website, since it's blocked here.
  24. I appreciate it. I used Zoom's alot but they are expensive, and I picked up some Netbait C-Mac's that I really like. They are cheaper and have more product in each package, and actually come scented aond zoom products don't. Well as of right now it looks like I'm still going to stick with Netbait unless someone else has any input.
  25. I'm looking for info from anyone who has used them. Are they durable? Did you compare favorably to zoom or netbait's 10" worms? Did you have good success with them? Anything else anyone would like to mention please do. I've seen from a search that quite a few members like their tiki sticks but I'm trying to find an alternative to zoom's worms, since I went through roughly 30 packs of them last summer. Thanks
