  1. yup.... bull sharks. Whats scary is seeing one about 15 yds ahead of you while spearfishing with a bag full of fish. needless to say....... i called it a day at that point!!!
  2. thanks for all the info, and the link again Seyone.... you'll have to let me know how they are.... Im gonna givem' a shot in a few months myself. and Dan. Ive seen many variations of the Thai menu heat scale, but have yet to encounter that one ;D. Quite honestly, i dont even know what Laotian food would be..... but in accordance to the scale... id sure like to try it
  3. does it seem as if its just the handle, or possibly in the interior of the reel.... as in the gears. could just be dirt in where the handle attaches to the reel, but most likely you've got some gunk inside the reel itself..... in which case it needs to be broken down, and thoroughly cleaned and re-lubed.
  4. nice.... so since your growin' them..... ive gotta ask.... how nasty are they??? ****edit***** thanks for the link man!
  5. agreed, it is ridiculous..... but its an addiction, seriously....... it feels as if i need it.... just as in how i have been addicted to other things in the past (kicked those habbits though, well.... most of them at least ) i have read that spicy food can very well be actually addictive as well.... When you eat spicy food, your brain releases endorphins to dull the pain, and you subsequently get hooked to the endorphin rush.... Problem is, as with most addictions, a tolerance is built over time.... Im at the point now where i must have those "hot for the sake of hot" foods.
  6. glad to hear there's others like me out there..... i really do feel that it is more of an addiction to the heat, rather than believing it enhances flavor..... Nonetheless, i cant stop.... and the addiction gets worse be the week... I'll have to look that one up, as from what i understood the ghost chillie was the hottest pepper on the planet (though the scoville rating will depend greatly on how you grow them, and will inevitably vary from pepper to pepper on the plant).. Thats why i was gonna go with the ghost chillie, but now ive got to check that one out...... cause if so...... Im growin that bad boy!
  7. good to have ya around!!!
  8. welcome to the crew.... and... agreed ;D ;D ;D ...i cracked up just at the sight of it, completely awesome man!!
  9. I bring this up because just yesterday, i was at a Thai restaurant near my house. And for anyone who likes Thai, you know that there is a heat scale that you can order your food on.... generally being something like...regular, medium, hot, or thai hot (even seen it called "native")... Well, i always order the "thai hot" or "native" as my love for (or addiction to) spicy food is quite incredible, and i always make the point to say that i will not send the food back (as i have found many places will not make it "extremely hot" for the average looking white guy, as in myself). The food comes out, and its not even hot, at all!! So i kindly asked if that was the hottest that they could make it, waitress replies with "Wow, really... not hot enough??"... She heads back to the kitchen and comes out with 4 plates of assorted chillies, and ground chillie pastes.... I proceeded to use all 4 portions on my dish, and then it was slightly "eye watering" at best... The waitress then came out with the kitchen chef, and he was amazed to say the least that i had consumed all that was given to me.....He seemed a little ashamed that he couldn't melt my face off to tell you the truth.... I felt bad, because i wasnt trying to hurt anyones feelings..... I just expect Thai food to be extremely hot... So i left a more than generous tip, and was on my way.... Heres what i have to remedy my problems with lackluster heat... below are some pics of a version of the classic thai chille that i have grown myself from seeds bought on the internet.. Their powerfully hot, but im looking for more punch After the cold months (i know it doesnt get that cold in FL ;D) im gonna grow some real monsters...... ghost chillies (the two potters in front of the chillie plants are just some basil and cilantro)
  10. i throw many deep divers in the small ponds that i fish. as for the tech. i use, cast it out as usual, retrieve with short bursts of the rod, followed by a pause (as to let it get a little more shallow again) and then reel the slack. Repeat all the way back in. this keeps the bait much more shallow, and gives it an erratic action sending it an all angles..... works quite well for me.
  11. good catchin' my man! wish my productivity was at that level lately
  12. The craziest thing that has happened to me, in accordance with you statement............ I was tossing a popper along the shoreline, saw a dink try to hit it..... but missed.... I waited a few seconds, and the fish returned to the same spot... right near the shore, maybe 6 or7 ft from me. I lightly tossed the popper right on top of it, and the crazy bass jumped from the water and ate it in mid-air!!!!! I literally set the hook on the fish while it was out of the water, subsequently yanking it right up to my feet. It was wild, i pretty much caught the fish out of water, and there was no fight bc the mid air hookset tugged the fish right to me. .... I was glad my pal was there to see it happen, bc both of us just started cracking up, and thinking "what the ^%$# just happened!!!" :o
  13. Once again paul, you never cease to amaze me with the giant bass that you catch! Thats one fine cat as well man. Congrats on the successful trip, for you.... and the litte pro that your raising
  14. i wish that was the case lately
  15. i always use an over the shoulder style tackle bag myself, and just carry my rod(s) in the other hand. ive been trying to tinker with building a rod holder that will carry 1-3 poles, but havent got to involved with that task yet.... as of this point. never tried the backpack idea.
  16. sure looks nice my man, there definitely isn't any scenery quite like that where im at.
  17. close to my fav. but the best is after thanksgiving, taking nearly everything that there is, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, etc, etc.... and cramming it all between 2 pieces of toast. nestle up to that, and a frosty cold leftover beer....... and im set!

good job, eh!!! nice to hear that this place helped you out as well..... rattle traps are classic baits, they've been producing for me pretty much since i started fishing.... and thats more than i can say about most of the baits i own.
  19. hey, its not a bass....... but i do believe that i would rather catch those any day, as opposed to the dinks ive been slaying lately.
  20. now thats awesome!!!!! congrats, for her..... and you as well!
  21. if your unsure on size.... with the line you want to put on it (the PP 8/30) id go with a 3000. just my opinion though.
  22. that is for my UL setup.... its the sahara 500, with a fish eagle II 5'6" UL.... its spooled with suffix braid, 2/6. my go to bass outfit has suffix braid 8/30.
  23. personally id go with the T-rig. i also love to fish big worms at dusk, right along the shoreline....... ....as slow as possible. just my thoughts on the matter at hand.
  24. good to have ya, eh!!
