fishin a pond with little cover
and, an overpopulation of BG, or any panfish for that matter..... can be detrimental for growing large LM's IMO. i have a pond in my neighborhood that is TOTALLY OVERRUN with BG......and all the bass, though numerous, are dinks....... but there are a handfull of topdogs still..... its just tough to come by them!!!

fishin a pond with little cover
there is likely an overpopulation of dinks in there from what you say.... they will eat up all the food source, and not allow larger fish to grow... and the large ones will have big fat heads of a lunker, and the anorexic body of a cheerleader... i have the same problem with one of the ponds that i fish....... keep some of the dinks for food, as to free up a forage source for the larger fish....... and, i suggest trying some JUMBO shiners to ***** how big some can get there.... whether you like live bait or not, it will give you a fair assessment of the fish in the pond.. (and live bait or not, their always fun to catch ;D ;D ;D)

fishin a pond with little cover
have you ever tried live shiners or live bait in general..... just to get a good idea of the size and number of bass available in such a small area???

fishin a pond with little cover
well then, my .02 early morning, slow topwater.... slow buzzbaits, lightly popped pop-r's, or a stop and go with a spook, all around cover.... if the day is hot, try to keep your baits deep if the day is cold, try to keep your baits slow late evening.... large worms.... i prefer 10 in range fished along the shorelines... im definitely not an expert, so by no means may i be considered correct in any sense... its just how i would go about it.. hope it helps.

fishin a pond with little cover
on second thought........ how large would you at least guess the pond to be.....???? as in, with my previous response, most of the small ponds that i fish regularly are quite small..... I can walk the entire perimeter in about 10 min give or take depending on location.... so as my original post went, the fish i am relating yours to, really dont have anywhere to go..... their always right under your nose, so to speak.... albeit, if your pond is substantially larger, this will affect my opinion on how to necessarily go about things.

cork handles, and how i might repair/mend one?
I just noticed today when i was out that the cork grip on one of my rods was coming apart.... it is where the reel seat is located. the cork is in ring sections, and two of the sections are starting to slightly separate. i thought just some simple super glue could to the trick, but not sure if that will have an adverse effect on the cork. im sure someone here knows the right tool for the job. any info is appreciated.

fishin a pond with little cover
thats how i would do it, i have found with many small farm type ponds, most all lures work... and fish are willing to take anything that looks like food. Though, day to day they may be choosy towards one type or another....overall, everything in the box will catch them over time.

Golf course fishing
as a young kid in middle school, i used to fish the golf course ponds of the Pembroke Lakes Golf course in Broward county.... I used to live near the course, so my inquisitive mind led me to the fish... all the lakes were loaded with peacock bass, it was great!!!! And yes, the rangers hated my buddies and me... in fact, the knew us personally because of how many times they chased us around and tried to kick us off. But we were kids, so nothing much could really be done, or at least nothing much was ever done.... When i was in highschool, i fished the ponds on the Martin County golf course in Stuart FL. i knew that fish were likely there bc of my younger experiece. I was correct. In fact i used to catch many fish in the 6-8 lb range from one particular pond on the course. as for the rangers, i knew them bc i was constantly golfing the course at that point in time. So long as i came near dusk, when golfers were finishing up, or nonexistant.... they didnt mind, they did always enjoy seeing the pics of the fish that i had caught there though!!!

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
maybe i worded this slightly wrong, but my whole statement was... as in, if people acted and behaved as decent members of society.... then you wouldn't have to worry about things like this.... unfortunately, all do not...... but do i feel its his fault for leaving the stuff out... absolutely not.

How do you catch a cat fish?
as for bait..... here is a LONG list of many peoples preferences!!!! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1239649912 ive been sticking with the chicken livers lately... i put an egg style weight above a swivel and tie off.... then on the bottom ring of the swivel i tie about 3 to 4 ft of line with a treble hook.
