M and M..... honestly, i dont know what kind of bait it is.... i just call it DINKBAIT ;D i buy them at super walmart, their in packs of 3 for like a buck..... they swim nice with the paddle tail, and are highly effective on little bass and any panfish..... they dont hold up too well though.... after, 2 or 4 fish their usually toast..... i am heading to wally world in just a few though, and am going to pick up some more.... so, when im back in an hour or two.... ill post up with the exact name and price for ya. (i love those things, and they come in lots of different colors, as well as sizes, from dinkbait to lunkerbait )

i fish most all the time in just a pair of baggies (boardshorts, trunks, whatever you all call them) and sandals....... Its FL, and i grew up on the beach, so thats just how i do it........BUT, subsequently .... i always have on sunscreen, usually spf 50+ ..... now i do my best to keep it off of my gear/lures/etc...... but inevitably it does get on my hands and then lures.....then line....blah blah blah..... you get the picture..... does it ever affect my fishing..... nope... i dont think it matters at all, i catch plenty of fish.... just my thoughts on the matter at hand.

Well i decided to go and target the dinks today......... I know it may not seem like the best of times, but on the UL....... it can be quite the adventure.... Just stayed at the local pond in my neighborhood, and battled the NASTY FL heat, but well worth it!!! I caught about 15 dinks or so in a couple of hours just walking the shore with my sahara 500, and 5'6" UL..... here's a couple of them, and the dinkbait i used to trick'em all.....

it did at first, but that was easily solved..... if you notice in the pic, simply make sure that the reel is over the top of the velcro tape after being secured... that solved the reel from rattling.... as for the rod sections, i used one of those "packing peanuts" that is shaped like an "8"...... in the pic, off to the left.... just out of view.... the two ends of the rod sections have one of those "packing peanuts" around them, so that one section goes through each hole.... noise problem, solved.... guess i forgot to mention that part in the original post.

I like to keep a rod and reel handy at all times in my truck for some spur of the moment fishing, or fishing new lakes with no notice... This is my storage idea that i thought i would share with others to always have something handy.....(pic included) Its just some industrial strength velcro tape.... (the velcro part is the "industrial strength" i have found, not the adhesive.... so i fixed that part by adhering it with some basic super glue) on the bottom left you can see a tackle box.... just the basics in it, couple of worms, spoon, rattle trap, knife, assorted hooks and weights, a bobber or two, and the all important beetle spins (3 in assorted sizes and colors)..cause they'll straight up catch anything that swims!!!! that all i need to search a random pond that i drive by unexpectedly..... as for the rod/reel... its a super old daiwa regal Z on a 6' md power POS FLW rod, lined with suffix braid 8/30.

go with the spro BBZ-1.... its a great bait, i have one blue herring floater and one dirty shad slow sink they swim perfectly at any speed.

im accustomed to your style with the heavy cover man!!!!!! i'll see if i can keep the new one out of trouble......... if not....... well new gear time!!!!!!! ....in this case, its a double edged sword!!!!!.......... (but we all love new gear ;D ;D)

well the CS sounds awesome still...... but makes me wonder about my fish eagle II rods as well..... seriously hope it doesnt happen again..... in fact im pretty sure that Muddy uses only the fish eagle II's (if i remember correctly), and i havent heard any thing bad from him.... thats a good sign!

ya, it was great that they did that for me..... even after i told the nice lady that it was clearly my fault!!!! as for the rods, i loved it up till that point, at which i kicked myself for being such an idiot!!! wont do that again, and i will make sure this one gets proper respect!!!

man..... now thats a nice red..... gotta love the hard runs, and doggish fight on them. wish i ran into some lately that size in my wade fishing adventures to the salt.... honestly.... im pretty jealous of the awesome fight that was..... great fish man!!!!!!!!!!!!

aint that the truth RW. i never normally go that way, but with boredom, and fishing live bait (shiners for bass)..comes restlessness at times (and i fish from shore).... so many of times i have caught a live grasshopper and such just jumping around, and subsequently chucked it in the water........ never fails...... under 30 sec. every time.......... SMACK!!

oh ya,,, and the other part of your question... yes, it works just fine on bass..... though i use it mainly for panfish, i have caught some substantial bass on it as well.

my combo for this is as follows sahara 500 and cabella's fish eagle II 5'6" UL... awesome combo, i have it spooled with suffix braid 2/6.
