Crucial warranty
They're still listed elsewhere on the site as having it. I doubt they would warranty the lower end rods and dump the upper and mid range out of the clear blue.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
I've got to see the nails that kit was made for.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
A massive slurpee from sheetz.... Massage and take her to get a pedicure/manicure. I find women really love those things, especially if your doing it with them ( I know, I know, heres my man card). But hey, if there happy, who cares!? 8-)... P.S. Dont forget the Slurpee You're not old enough to posses a man card. The required age as stated by the Man Union is 18 to become an apprentice man. At the ripe old age of 20 you can potentially be promoted to the rank of Man. Yeah.... Whatever you do, don't buy your girlfriend a fishing rod and say it's for her.....

Deep South FL fishing. Dade/ Broward County
When Mike and I were heading up to Iso on Friday we saw how high the water was. Fish are probably spread so far apart right now that it's nearly impossible to get into a solid bite out there.

Chatterbait Hooks
Burley actually made a good post. Chatterbait hooks are just plain garbage. The Pure Poison is a much better product.

Tackle Warehouse Labor Day Sale
The Bait Monkey bit me again. Two or three times as much as I wanted to spend. Jigs, magic shads, etc etc....

Steel vs. Tungsten
Check out one of the newer site sponsors. Eco Pro Tungsten. The prices are really good for what you're getting. The paint isn't the greatest on them, but for the price I can live with it. http://ecoprotungsten.com/cart/

One Trick Pony or Multi Use Tool?
I like my rods being multi-use. My primary flipping stick is a 7'6" MH. Works just fine as a worm and jig rod also when I'm using larger baits. It's also my current frog rod.

Jigs
Come fish some of the waters down here in Southern Florida, you'll see lots of vegetation I've found that you can get a jig through pretty much anything if you take the time to learn how to do it.

Police Officer Comments
I had a BSO officer blow by me on I-75 last night. Posted limit is 70, most people do 80-85. It was like I wasn't even moving when he flew past.

rod comparisons
Do you ever read the first post in a thread? Sqhertz, if you've been happy with your Clarus, I don't see any reason why you should swap to something else.

punching experience so far
i feel you on the lighter weights. I start with 1 oz now and go up as needed. 1 oz seems to do it 85% of the time. Bobber stop seems to help it get through and beaver baits penetrate the best imo. x2 I was using a 3/4 yesteday as that was all that I had available. It was really only good for picking apart the outer edges of some emergent grass. Definitely need to go up to a 1oz or heavier to get through thicker stuff. Like SoFl-native mentioned, beaver type baits are what I'll primarily use. RI Sweet Beavers, Ugly Otters, Wooly Bugs, etc etc. If you want to downsize some, BB Crickets are a great smaller alternative. In thinner grass with darker water, I a Rage Craw or Lobster for the added vibration they put out. I tend to use darker colors when flipping heavier stuff. Look on youtube for directions on how to tie a Snell Knot. I feel that you do get better hookups with it. The revised or quick Snell Knot is extremely easy to tie.

Shimano Crucial Users
I use the 7'2" MXfast DS rod as my primary spinning rod. I bought it to drop shot some of the deeper spots in my lake. Couldn't be happier with it. It's designed and marketed as a drop shot and shakey head rod. Works beautifully for both of them. Also makes a fantastic weightless soft plastics rod. Lots of backbone, and a very nice tip.

topwater peacock
In almost any of the canals and lakes in the Dade/Broward area. The early year freeze that we had pretty much eradicated them north of Broward. Great fish, Sqhertz. Gotta love catching them on top.

S. Fla Guys What's up with these fish?
I spent the day at Istokpoga yesterday and got worked. Water temp was ridiculously high at 94 degrees and some change. Roughly nine hours of fishing and I got four small fish. Mike stuck one or two. I think the biggest might have gone two pounds. That lake is fantastic to fish, but man, with heat like that the fish don't want to cooperate.

jig and finesse fishing question?
Typically, jigs have a heavier gauge hook than a finesse type of presentation. With the heavier hook, you need a heavier rod to drive the hook home. One thing you need to remember though, finesse is a style of fishing. You can finesse a one ounce jig on the bottom. You can also power fish an 1/8 oz shaky head.

Post some fishing love (Photo Thread)
I'm jealous. I haven't even held one of those Cumulus rods yet. The Stradic and the Core look beautiful on them. Nice setups, CW.

1st Baitcaster purchase
I've got a Citica and a PQ. I prefer using the PQ in all honesty. They are both very comparable reels. Having the different choices in gear ratios makes the PQ a very nice reel. The dual braking is great when you're learning. I don't use it all that much anymore. I'll set the pins to whatever they need to be for the lure and set the Mag at zero. That being said, being able to have the fine tuning of the magnetic is nice. Especially if you're dealing with wind.

help with dedicated pitch/flip set up
I use a MH Crucial 7'6" Flippin stick with either a 6.4 or a 7.1 ratio PQ and have been thoroughly pleased with it. Planning on buying another one shortly.

A good day of fishing on Hilton Head Island, SC
Now thats a nice Tarpon. I've caught a bunch of them, but nothing that size. Looks like it's at least 140-160. Great fish.

Swamp People
To say it is or isn't dangerous is really based on your perspective. If thats what you've grown up doing, the danger really isn't the same as it is to you and me. I sure as hell wouldn't go out messing around with a gator though. I see them frequently down here and I stay the heck away. Mind you, as a kid growing up I spent a lot of time in the saltwater. I've been swimming and fishing around enough sharks that they really don't concern me. Lots of people would consider that dangerous as well. As long as you've got a sense of respect for the animal and you take the proper precautions you can lessen the amount of danger quite a bit. There is always something to be said for having years and years of experience as well.

FWC Black Bass Management Plan (Working Draft)
A while back the FWC sent out emails, and asked people to do an online survey about Black Bass here in Florida. Looks like they've got up a working draft from the results of the first survey. http://myfwc.com/BassPlan_survey/BBMP-WorkingDraft-30August.pdf
