  1. Somewhere, Mercury Morris is smiling.
  2. Well. I'm officially jealous. I'm sitting here taking a break at work and I see you post that beast. Heck of a fIsh right there, Robert! Now I need to find some time to get out to catch something like that. Nice way to break in the Bullet.
  3. If you get a significant backlash on braid in the middle of a cast, you'll probably be kissing that lure good by. The lack of stretch in braid leads to losing heavier lures if you really mess things up. As far as the line weakening or anything like that. You'll be fine. Braid doesn't really kink. If you see strands of the braid fraying, then you know it's time to either cut some line off, or respool depending on how far down on the spool it is.
  4. I'm biased simply because of the area I live in and how "I" like to fish. To me, there isn't much more fun than to be out on Okeechobee. I freakin absolutely love that place. Big grass, big bass. Or you can go out there and just get completely blanked. It's getting better and better right now too.
  5. There is no heaviest or lightest. You can finesse any lure you have. You can also power fish any lure you have. It's nothing more than a mindset and a way to present a lure.
  6. That Big O feller sure seems to like them.....
  7. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have a good schematic in front of when you start. Depending on the reel, you may even find a decent video floating around of how to disassemble and reassemble it. Having a camera handy isn't a bad idea either. Yu can take a picture during each step so you can see how it was originally put together.
  8. You can fish them pretty much any way you want to. T-rigged, c-rigged, flipped, pitched, punched, drop shotted, etc etc. It's just another hunk of plastic to make a presentation with. Sure do work good stuck on the back of a jig also.
  9. X2 A Palomar Knot, when tied properly, is just as good as almost any other knot with fluoro. I was having some issues with it before, then I sat down and tied it a bunch of times to figure out where I was going wrong. Watching how Denny Brauer ties it helped out a bunch also. I haven't had a knot failure with it in a long time. Practice makes perfect.
  10. Lmao. I bet. Those things straight out fly Let me know how you like that mean green. I've been tempted to try some out.
  11. Agreed. Though not all of those private lakes are created equal. Some have FAR better fishing than others. I'd add Lox into that list also.
  12. If you tie it properly it'll almost never fail. Both of them are great knots.
  13. Robert, where are you trying to fish them? I love my Dobyns 733 for spooks and whatnot. Citica 200E and 12 pound Hybrid for the most part. If your wanting to use it over submerged grass though, you may want to use something like 30 or 40 pound Samurai. That rod has a wonderful tip to use for spooks, flukes, etc. Also happens to be a great rod to rip traps out of grass. It isn't the most powerful rod in the world, but it is great for a few things. Dobyns calls them a MH, but the 3 powers definitely lean more towards the M side.
  14. Very cool. Looking forward to watching it once it airs.
  15. Griffin Richardson Luck Two and three are neck and neck. Honestly, I could see any one of this three winning it.
  16. Sounds like a good deal. You may want to post up the name of the store for other interested people.
  17. If you don't know what you're doing, the safe bet will be to send them into somebody and have them service the reels. You'll generally need more than just a screwdriver. Using wd40 is fine if you want to add an extra step to remove the residue that wd40 leaves behind. You'll never find that stuff near me when I service my reels. Like Francho said, send them into DVT. Support the site sponsors. I doubt you'll find a bad review of them either.
  18. There are several false statements in the OP. Several of them are true as well. The 3rd is a strict unit, but they do not restrict off duty drinking, where you must live, etc etc. I spent quite a while serving in the 3rd. It's not as deep as the first post leads you to believe. There are very strict guidelines, but nothing that severe.
  19. Don't believe the last Citica had it either. They have SiC inserts. You'll be fine using braid with those.

  21. Pffft. Red Devils or nothin!
  22. That game has kept me entertained many a days waiting in the car line at my daughters school come pick up time. You should see the two kids arguing over who gets to play it on the iPad though. It's like crack for kids.
  23. Thanks for the replies guys. Pretty much what I was expecting. In all honesty, that was probably just me being cheap. If I'm going to start tossing some larger baits I need to go out and pick up a new rod specifically for them. Gotta have the right tool for the job. I may have to order one of those Okuma big bait rods that I keep hearing are so good for larger baits. Wish I had a dealer down in my area handy so I could mess around with one before buying it.
  24. Anywhere from 14 to 20 pound fluoro depending on available cover. If I'm getting into really thick grass, I'll swap over to 50 pound braid. As much as I don't like the management issues with most fluoros, especially in heavier lines, you can't beat the sensitivity of it. Especially on a slack line. I "love" braid. The problem with it is if you have slack in the line. You loose all feeling then. The other reason I've gone more towards fluoro is because of how it handles abrasion. I primarily fish limestone strip pits down here and the rocks and ledges will shred braid instantly. If I'm going to a place like Okeechobee though, I'll put braid on almost every rod.
  25. So as I find myself wanting to throw a little larger bait in some of these southern Florida strip pits, I figured I'd ask here before I go out and drop the coin on a new rod right now. I've got a couple of flippin sticks here, both rated for 1 ounce lures. Am I running the risk of trashing those rods by throwing something like a 6" Hudd ROF 5, 6" BBZ, etc etc? Roughly 2 ounce baits. Just looking to move up a bit from my small arsenal of undersized swimbaits.
