  1. It's not always how how the cork looks. Grip can become an issue if it's neglected too much. Especially in wet or damp conditions.
  2. I'm sitting here watching the finish of the F1 race right now. That is one ridiculous rule. I'd have no problem with them putting the tire warmers on them while they wait to keep the temps up. But to do all of the work they did is a bit silly...
  3. Heat in 6. I've said what I needed to in the other thread that popped up. Accidentally clicked 5 in the poll...
  4. You'd more than likely be fine fishing out of that. Just keep your eyes out for gators in some of the canals.
  5. I meant that some people like the way the U40 works and some don't. You need to lightly apply it. Cabelas sells the cork sealer. I've gotta believe custom shops like Mudhole will sell it also. Like BassnBlvd mentioned, you can get a Magic Eraser at Home Depot and almost any super market.
  6. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean the cork. U-40 Cork Sealer to seal it up and keep it looking like new. Some people like the stuff, some don't It all depends on the application.
  7. Bill, don't hesitate to ask whatever you feel. There are a bunch of really good people from the Florida region that regularly post here. Plenty of really good info and a bunch of really good anglers around here.
  8. Yeah it was a fun day. I wouldn't have minded the weather to be a little bit rougher. Fishing usually is drastically better with a bit more chop. No reason to complain though. Stopping to make a couple tosses with the cast net made the difference on the reef. Ended up with a bunch of Pilchards and some Ballyhoo. Just having them in the chumline makes the entire world show up. We lost a bunch of fish to toothy critters. It happens. Just part of the game. We were fishing east/southeast of Pacific Reef Light, Kevin. Cross Biscayne Bay from Homestead Bayfront, run through Caesar Creek where you cut through Adams Key. Follow the channel out into the reefs and then to open water once you pass the Light.

  10. Went out early this morning. Weather was nice. Caught a few Dolphin in the 15-20 pound range, and several smaller ones. A decent Sailfish darted through a school of fish when we were tossing cut bait out. Landed him on a small spinning rod which was pretty fun. Had a very large Blue Marlin show up while we were trolling on the Gulfstream side of a weedline. If I had to take a guess, probably 400 to 500 pounds. He smashed a teaser twice and then nailed a rigged ballyhoo a few times without getting hooked. Just one of those deals where you do everything right but the fish just doesn't cooperate. Dropped out some high speed trolling plugs and ran them back in towards the reefs. Picked up a small Wahoo and a King that went about 20 pounds. Spent the next two hours or so sitting over the reefs dropping for grouper and whatever else wanted to come up. Put a few very nice Yellowtail into the box along with a decent Mutton which was an unexpected bonus. All in all not a bad day. Nothing to complain about. Didn't absolutely load the boat, we did catch a decent amount, and a very nice variety. With the Gulfstream in so close, the fishing was pretty darn good today.
  11. No worries, I wasn't offended at all Was just making sure that was out in the open and made clear. I don't see them being cocky, I see it more on the sides of them having fun. 90% of the time after the games they're laughing. It's actually fairly refreshing to see a few players generally enjoying themselves. As far as Bosh goes, I've always liked him, but I wasn't the biggest fan of Miami picking him up. I think there were better choices out there. I'm certainly not going to complain though. Why do I think they'll win? Defense. Offensively, they struggled a bit with Chicago, which is understandable. Chicago had the number one defense in the league. Miami has the number two defense. With the way they've been playing lately though, it looks like they're in another league. A lot of this series is going to hinge on bench production. I think it's fairly well known that Miami has a weak bench. The caveat is that the bench doesn't have to come in and score 30 points. If Miami gets 15 or 20 points off the bench, they'll be in good shape. Mind you, the same can be said about the Mavs. The problem the Mavs may run into is defense. They're ok defensively, but they're going to have to completely shut down three very good scoring players, that are all playing at the highest levels they have this year. If they can slow the Heat down offensively, things will get very interesting. Both teams are very good in transition with the edge to the Heat. Dallas is definitely a better outside shooting team because of Dirk. The real battles are going to be in the paint. Who's going to step up and take control of the middle. That may well be the deciding factor. I'm looking forward to this one. Rematch of 2006. Yet both teams are very different now. -------------------------------------------------------- As far as the bandwagon fans go: Thats just expected. Any time a team in any sport signs a few big name players the new fans are going to be there. The same holds true for a team that starts to dominate, etc etc. Look at sudden rise in Celtics fans when they signed Allen and KG. Or look at the Cowboys when they were winning all those Super Bowls. The same for the Patriots. It's just a fact of life in the sporting world. ------------------------------------------------ About LeBron and the ESPN special: I wont defend him, I just ask you to look at it from all sides. He donated a couple million dollars to a very worthy charity from doing it. The only reason a big deal got made about it, is because it was him. Carmelo Anthony did exactly what everybody said LeBron should have done, and got killed for it. He was in a lose lose situation no matter what happened. If Dwight Howard decides to leave Orlando and announces it in the same way that James did, nobody is going to care. You're very entitled to your opinion, just remember to examine the entire story. Not just what was seen on the TV. ------------------------------------------------ I'd say OKC is a far bigger threat than Chicago. Younger and more talented. Chicago got exposed for just what they are. The present day Cavaliers when James played for them. You can't win with one person. You may be great in the regular season, but once the Playoffs start, you're going to get hurt. Look at the Lakers this year if you doubt that. Kobe was basically alone and they got hurled out of the playoff race like a dirty rag.
  12. On a side note: I definitely didn't expect the Heat to make it to the Finals. I've been very impressed with how they've played in the Playoffs, outside of Game 1 in Chicago. You're watching a far different team than earlier this year. They are far stronger defensively than anybody ever thought. LeBron has matured very quickly before every bodies eyes. He's no longer just an offensive threat. He really has turned into a complete player this year. His defensive play has been off the charts, as well as his ability to facilitate other players getting the ball. It definitely says something when Scottie Pippen says that James, though he may not be the best "scorer," he may be the best "player" ever in the NBA with the way his game has developed. I'm still not sure why Derrick Rose got the MVP, over LeBron or Dwight Howard. IMO Howard should have won it. If he leaves Orlando, you're looking at a team that might be lucky to win 10 to 15 games.
  13. I can't argue that with you at all. I've never been a "fan" of ESPN. They've become far too biased in recent years. Especially during the College Football season.
  14. You should probably watch ESPN a bit more often then. Most of the year ESPN has been doing nothing but saying how Miami is going to lose left and right. Miami was going to lose to the Celtics. Miami was going to lose to the Bulls. Miami is now apparently going to lose to the Mavs. Guess what, ESPN was wrong. ------------------------------------------------------ I haven't posted a big (insert expletive here) to all the Heat haters that are running around the country. Apparently everybody is mad because they didn't get X player. Thats fine. I'll enjoy the product that is on the floor of my team. And before you call me a fairweather fan (not saying you did), I've been a season ticket holder for a long time. I remember watching the very first heat game while sitting on the floor of my bedroom going crazy that we finally had a team down here. As far as saying Dirk and Kidd deserve a ring, eh sure. As much as every other player to make the finals this year. Thats the beauty of a team game. I've got plenty of respect for what they've done over their careers. Dirk is a ridiculously good player. He's playing better right now than he ever has. This should be a very good series. The Mavs as a perimeter shooting team may struggle against the Heats perimeter defense. The Mavs interior defense will probably give the Heat some problems as well. Predictions? Thats hard to say. The homer fan in me wants to say sweep, but that more than likely wont be the case. Miami in 6 would be my guess. Looking forward to being at the AAA on Tuesday evening. ----------------------------------------------------- There is one fact that nobody will be able to ignore. This will be the worst Heat team you're going to see for the next few years. Riley will have some more money available and the ability to replace a few players. If Dallas is going to win one, they better do it this year.
  15. There wasn't a preview. Dave Mercer posted that picture on his Facts of Fishing facebook page. He mentioned how nice it was to fish with the 2012 Shimano lineup.
  16. Thanks. Couldn't tell you. It's nasty looking outside right now, but no wind at all. NOAA is calling for 8 to 11 knot winds and 2 foot seas. Light chop in the intracoastal. If anything, it'll be an enjoyable day off. I had to kill myself to figure out why my fuel primer pump didn't want to work earlier today. Of course it was the simplest thing in the boat. The switch went bad. I figured that out by jumping the two wires on the back of it together. VOILA pump started working without a problem. I hate when that happens.

  18. Denny and Chad are fishing in Vero inside the Blue Cypress Conservation area.. Show is airing right now. Airs again Sunday at 9:30 AM.
  19. Heading out in the morning with my father and two of my uncles. Hoping to find some fish while trolling offshore. Would love to get into a couple of kings, but the weather doesn't look too great for that. Going to be fairly calm. Might kill the sailfish bite also. I sure wouldn't mind finding a school of dolphin though. Haven't brought fresh fish home for a while. Would love for a nice sized billfish to show up in the spread. That'd make for a nice day. If the offshore bite is dead, I plan on dropping the hook near the drop offs on a few of the reefs and setting out a big chumslick. Going to get out early enough to toss the cast net around for a few to try and get some live bait in the well also. Heres to hoping for a productive day!
  20. My daughters. Although they'd much rather use shiners, they're starting to have a small collection of plastics. Man, that second picture is an older one. Ole blondie sure had some snaggle-tooth going on for a while while her new teeth were coming in.
  21. I live on a small private lake right now and honestly you'd be hard pressed to make me any happier. I'm the only person that actively fishes the lake. Plenty of largemouth and peacocks roaming around. I can motor around the entire lake in my jon boat in a couple of hours. If I were to get something lakefront from a fishing standpoint only....Okeechobee would be very high on my list, or something on the Harris Chain. It would be very hard for me to leave Florida.
  22. 1. Hemingway, KVD, one of the BASS Florida Pros 2. Hemingway 3. Does it really matter?
  23. Congrats Lynyrd! I took Spanish in school. Never remembered a thing. I learned more Spanish walking around the streets of Miami than I ever did in school.....
  24. That is one spectacular photo. I've always loved storm photography. Very cool.
  25. Terrible to hear that. Words can't express how bad I feel for the family. You always have to hope nobody every goes through that, unfortunately, things can and do happen. Condolences to them. RW: Hope you're safe somewhere buddy.
