  1. Only info I could get was "soon" and "the near future." I'd love to see them expand the Champion cranking rods into the Savvy series.
  2. After speaking with Gary Dobyns for a while yesterday, I've come to understand a lot about the rods he sells. Surprisingly he told me that he very rarely uses the Extremes outside of videos and television. They're ultra sensitive, but they're also a bit more on the fragile side. Apparently if you've got a seriously hard hookset the Extreme series may not be for you. It's not like they're going to instantly break when you set the hook, but he said it is a possibility on occasion. Most of his fishing is done with the Champion line and he's also bringing the Savvy line in as well. Is it worth the extra hundred bucks? That all depends on what your wallet can handle and if you really "need" the rod. Dobyns told me that there is a very noticeable difference in feel between the Champion and the Extreme. I'll probably buy one of them for my texas rig rod one of these days. Other than that, Savvys and Champions for me.....especially with the expanded lineup of Savvy rods coming in the near future.
  3. You'll never find me not owning a small Jon Boat of some kind. I've got tons of lakes in my area that you cannot put a larger boat in, much less something with a gas engine.
  4. Palomar, Pitzen, and the Uni/Double Uni. The deciding factor most of the time is the type of line that I'm using.
  5. Dobyns definitely seems to overrate the rod power when you compare them to other manufacturers. The 4 power "heavy" rods seem much more like medium heavy rods to me. Theres not much you can't do with a 704. Great stick. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for the world.
  6. Oh, I'd much rather own a Porsche myself. I can still admire the Lamborghini beauty though. It's a gorgeous car. It's not something I can picture myself driving though. Right now the Porsche Panamera is pretty high on my list of stuff to buy.
  7. Ooh. Daddy likey. Still not a fan of the rims that Lamborghini put on it. Mind you, I personally haven't liked a lot of their wheels. The bodywork on that car is gorgeous though. Looks pretty d**n killer.
  8. For line to line connections it's hard to beat the standard Albright Special or the Modified Albright (Alberto) Knot. I use both of them. The Alberto knot is a little shorter, but a bit bulkier than the Albright. The Albright is a bit longer but a bit more compact than the Alberto. Both of them are great knots that are fairly easy to tie once you get the hang of them.
  9. He's got a split grip, Chris. The chair caps do work. You just need to get the right size and then experiment by adding X amount of weight inside of the cap to get the rod to balance like you want.
  10. Nice fish....ugly shirt. Come on football season.
  11. Good God, Robert. WTG! I know you've been chasing that PB for a while. Awesome job. I'm going to assume that was out on the Lake again. It's almost scary the fish that place has been cranking out this year. Those are some very fat, very healthy looking fish. That post spawn feeding binge is definitely happening right now.
  12. They certainly will.
  13. If you don't think college football is entertaining, you should have watched the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. If you're a die hard NFL fan, several big name NFL stars played on that team. Back when they really had something to play for. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/243920-the-2001-hurricanes-the-best-team-ever The problem with the NFL is that you get paid no matter if you win, lose, or have a horrible season. A large portion of the kids in college are playing hard to hopefully have the chance to make those NFL bucks.
  14. You're going to awfully entertained when they aren't playing this season Really though, I prefer college football myself. I'll watch the NFL though, don't get me wrong. I just happen to enjoy the product on the college football field. Oh, and theres the whole tradition, rivalries, etc etc
  15. Now where the heck where those last Friday? Great fish, Bruce. Looks like fun.
  16. How so? You can finesse fish a one ounce jig. Conversely you can power fish that 3/32nd ounce shaky head. Finesse fishing is nothing more than an style of fishing and a mindset. There are no rules as to how light or how heavy your lure has to be.
  17. I've got plenty of my flipping hooks done with barbs on them like that. One thing I have found is that over time the heat shrink tends to get moist and start to slip. It also seems like the toothpick just holds a bit better. I've torn up far less plastics lately doing it this way. I was honestly surprised.
  18. I had a real hard time reading any further than that..... I'll have to check it out, Fisher. Sinbad has always been a funny dude.
  19. Hard to argue with that one. lol I'll take your word for it, Matt.
  20. We ended up with 7 people total out there. Not quite as many as originally planned, but who cares. We were out fishing on a Friday and not at work. That alone makes it worthwhile.
  21. I've pretty much figured out the same thing. There was a post here a while back stating that Mend-it was nothing more than PVC cement with some acetone added. One of these days, I'm going to go out into the garage and mix some together to see what happens. Regular PVC glue isn't quite as easy to apply as the thinner Mend-it, but it works just as good, if not better.
  22. You know, I like a straight shank hook. I like it for flipping. I like it for t-rigs. I like it for almost all of my plastic fishing. The one old problem with them though is the plastic sliding down on the hook. I've got plenty of hooks here with the barbs and bait keepers that you're seeing becoming more and more common now. I was out on the boat yesterday, broke off, and didn't have any barbs or whatnot with me. In a pinch I pulled out one of the toothpicks I keep handy and ran it through the eye of the hook just like you used to do several years ago. I haven't done it for a long time and I forgot just how effective it was. Moral: Remember to try out the old school stuff that we all used to use. Sometimes it just works better than all the "new" stuff out there today.
  23. Jig Fishing Questions Bass Jigs: What I've Learned Videos on Jigs If you do a forum search, you'll find tons of info on the subject here. Far more than you can read in one sitting.
  24. Dirty Jigs Skirted Football jigs. Big fat hook in them, great paint, great color.
  25. WTG, Bruce. Thats a pair of fine fish right there.
