  1. I've got that model Crucial. It's fantastic.
  2. I keep wanting to pull it off of my worm rod in favor of braid or this nice shiny new spool of fluoro I've got sitting here. I'm going to give it a month or two before I make a decision on it. I had it out earlier for a bit with a drop shot. Didn't have much trouble feeling bites. The wind made things a bit difficult, but thats a different story. Had one lure get hung up in some rocks. That 12lb is hard stuff to break....
  3. You aren't kidding about the wind. I wanted to get out earlier today before the winds really picked up, that just didn't happen. Was going to get out for a little while this afternoon and it was just howling outside. Wonder what this front is going to do to the fishing....
  4. I wouldn't mind fishing my first tourney at some point next year. I've never really had the urge before. I just keep wondering what fishing is like when there is something on the line besides fun.

  7. RW would certainly be a better person to answer that. Hopefully he reads the thread some more and answers. I don't have enough experience with it on casting gear. On my spinning rod I can feel it if a fish farts on the line. That rod is silly sensitive for the purpose it's made for though. The rods I have it on right now are my worm/jig rod and a rod that serves a bunch of purposes. I didn't have much trouble detecting bites with it....when I got bit. There were a few times where I knew I had a fish but never felt him it it. Could have been slack in the line though. I've got to play around with it some more before I can truthfully answer you.
  8. Cool stuff. Thanks for posting that. I'm still jealous at the quality of fish that Steve catches.....

  11. If I had to venture a guess, probably the Shimano Stradic CI4. There may well be some lighter reels out there though. The new Revo spinning reels were made with their new technology to lower the weight.
  12. I'm not giving up on it yet. It casts nicely, handles well. I've got problems other than the stretch. I completely understand that there will be stretch. It stretches just about as much as the last 12lb fluoro I was using. I think I just need to get a little used to it. I'm so used to having those bone jarring hook sets with braid on. I've actually got to reel down a bit more and really lay into the fish now. I can't just gently snap my rod tip up to set the hook anymore.
  13. Man, I'm not sure if it's just because I've been using braid for a while not or what. I spooled up a couple reels with 12lb Yo-Zuri and I swear it feels like I'm setting the hook with a wet noodle. I just needed to try something new out and figured I might as well use hybrid. I've used it on spinning gear plenty, never on casting. I feel like I'm not getting a quality hook set with it right now. I've lost a couple of fish on it already. I hope this is something I'll get over.....quickly. Otherwise it's back to braid for me. Had to try it out on casting gear after watching Bassn Blvd pull as hard as he could to free a lipless crank from a tree and he couldn't break the line no matter what. We drove up to it and got it out. Not a fray on the line. That impressed the hell out of me.
  14. Good stuff, Robert. I've got a ton of Muscovies you can come get rid of.......please
  15. Sorry to hear that. My buddy didn't have a bad trip, not a great one either though. Nothing huge really. A few fish broke into the 12 pound range, but thats about it. He said the same thing about the water levels. Lowest he's seen it. Wish I could have made it this year either way. You've always got a chance at a beast. One big fish can make it worthwhile. I've got some big prop baits I made sitting in the garage collecting dust. Looks like the guys from Tackletour had a great trip though.
  16. 12lb fluoro or 10-12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
  17. Ouch, that don't sound fun. Get well soon!
  18. Whenever I feel the need to use a hand pour thats who I call. When Richard down here at 152nd ST baits stopped pouring, he gave all of his molds and materials to Romeo. Fantastic company to work with. Very reasonable prices too. The fact that you can pick and choose how soft or hard you want the bait is just great. You've got complete control over your choice. How much salt, how much color, how much whatever.
  19. It's all relative to where you live. Temps have started to drop down here a bit. Not a lot, but they have. Water temps have been averaging 75 - 76 for me lately. The fish are getting very active and are eating. In another month we'll be in the early stages of the pre-spawn. This is one of my favorite times of the year, I almost always catch my bigger fish right around now. Up north, you guys are starting to get ridiculously cold. Bass are starting to get lethargic. Soon they'll stop chasing faster moving baits and you'll need to slow down. Like Glenn said, they are always biting. You just need to adjust to the conditions.

  22. Eric - I couldn't find the JB-90 series on the Yo-Zuri web site nor at TW, BPS, etc. Hope you have better luck. BTW - I wish there Peacock bass when I lived in South Florida and was fishing on Tamiami Trail, Alligator Alley, the canals along Krome Avenue, etc. - but that was the 1960s! ;D Looks like most of the ones that I have are the SH series, not the JB. Only have a couple of the JB line in my crank box. Either way, great lures. Lol I bet you do. They were introduced in 84 I believe. Such a great fishery to have.
  23. I've never had a problem with them either. Prompt shipping, accurate tracking with UPS. Couldn't be happier. The free shipping on anything over 50 bucks is even better. Just been hard to get anybody on the phone the last couple of days. Completely understandable though.
  24. I've got a few of those minnows in different sizes. Such an awesome lure. Largemouth love them, but the Peacocks down here on my lake absolutely devour them. I hope those aren't discontinued. I'll have to look into it.
