I went out for a couple of hours later in the day today. Found a good school of fish in deeper water on a main point. Nothing large though, one about two pounds was the biggest.

Never. I've been fishing for just shy of 30 years and have loved every second of it. I've seen some cool stuff while fishing in a few different countries. I couldn't imagine not being able to fish. Everybody will have those bad trips. It just happens to be part of the game. Thats why somebody a long time ago invented the saying, "It's called fishing, not catching." Just learn to enjoy the little things. There are far worse things you could be doing. I'd much rather go out and get skunked than be at work.

I didn't think about Wolfish. That would be pretty awesome. Tarpon in the Glades? The few I've seen in the Glades have always been little guys. I can take you to some areas out on the flats that are full of huge Tarpon that will eat bass tackle for lunch.

Yes. Yes they did. That was sad to watch. I'm a Ravens fan, but not when they're playing Miami. I'm almost ready to give up on the Phins. Somebody needs to remind them that they actually have to score points once in a while.

Trokars would be great hooks if a) they weren't overpriced the hook points didn't roll after a few fish.

Bag schmag. It mulches. And I cut it regularly. Rarely does it leave a bunch of stuff lying in the yard.

The bad part, she's not even my wife...rofl Reasons like this are why I play on not getting married for a long while. Needless to say, I didn't cut the yard. She apologized for making such a stink about it. I did fire up the motor after her friends had been here for about half an hour though. The reaction I got was just priceless. I wish I had a picture of it. Trust me, if she broke my rods and reels, I'd take her offshore and go trolling with her body parts.

10 AM and it still aint cut. This should get fun in a while. Methinks it's time to remind her who paid for this house.

Ensure that my daughters have the chance to catch a truly big fish

What I'll probably end up doing is grabbing a beer, launching the boat, and going fishing out back. I definitely like the idea of firing up the mower right as her friends show up. That should be worth a laugh or two.

Apparently I needed to cut the grass today because my girl has friends coming over tomorrow afternoon. I'm fine with that. She comes home and instantly walks outside and the following ensues... Her: "You didn't cut the grass?!" Me: "Oh, I forgot. Sorry about that, I'll cut it in the morning." Her: "I wanted it done today though." Me: "Well, I did work close to 70 hours in the last three days. I just forgot. Like I said, I'll cut it in the morning for you." Her: "I wanted it done today so that my friends didn't drag the cut grass into the house." Me: "Ok, I won't cut it in the morning then." Her: "But it needs to get cut!" Me: "Uh....you want it cut, but you don't want there to be any cut grass?" Her: "Yes, why is this so hard to understand." Me: "....." Her: Looks on the verge of exploding Me: "Ok, now that you've confused the hell out of me, what would you like me to do? Cut it, or don't cut it. Either way I'm screwed here, so just help me pick the lesser of two evils." Her: "UGH!" And she just walks away. And women wonder why men want to kill them sometimes...

There can be several reasons. Setting the hook a little early could be one problem. You also may have bass that are just slapping at the bait. The lure color could be a problem, the presentation, speed, etc etc. Since you are getting bites, you may want to try either speeding up or slowing down depending on the conditions. If that doesn't help, a slight color change could be the difference between getting a solid hookset or not.

Indeed. Along with Auburn. I'd love to see those two teams play each other. That sets up to be a pretty good game.

If you tie it down right, and cinch it down you can trim the ends as close as you possibly can. Doing this will also help the knot slide through guides easier. The super glue isn't needed with this knot. If you wrap it properly ( think XXXXXX) it will seat perfectly. People use super glue on knots like the uni-uni, not for knot strength, but to help smooth out the knot.

I don't use Megastrike as a scent at all. It's more of a lube to help a bait slide through grass and slop easier. It does seem to help fish hold on longer in certain situations. JJ's Magic on the other hand is definitely a scent. A very strong scent. Neither one of them are a magic fish catcher, but in certain situations they do help. Lure presentation is far more important.

As everybody else said, it's unnecessary. I've never broken an Alberto knot when it's been properly tied.

One of these days I need to hook up with you to see that. I just can't imagine using a reel that slow. What do you do if a fish starts running right at you? Just crank like all hell?
