Your fishing goals?
My goals are simple.... Enjoy each day that I'm able to fish. Catching them is just a bonus. Maybe when I retire I'll become a guide as a hobby and a way to make a few extra bucks. Competing in tournaments would be cool. I'm sure I'll try it out one of these days but I'm in no major rush. I just enjoy the simple act of fishing for the hell of it.

When to break out the swimbaits??
Thats basically what I'm using right now. One of them is a mod fast, great small swimbait rod. I use it for paddle tails mostly, now small hard baits. The second is my other MH flippin stick. No complaints at all.

Spinnerbait Tips

Tournament rods
I'll probably be buying a second one before too much longer. Love the one I received from Pinnacle to test.

When to break out the swimbaits??
I probably will one of these days. Thats a lure that I gotta plan on buying. Thats not an impulse purchase. I don't remember the weight offhand (Randall's site is down), I need to actually get some real swimbait gear before I start throwing heavier baits.

When to break out the swimbaits??
Every video I've seen of the High Power Herring has been great. Pricey lure though. I'd hate to lose one of those.

How About Halladay!
I'm not the biggest baseball fan. I enjoy the atmosphere of the playoffs though. That was great to watch.

Spro BBZ-1 4" Shad
I didn't have much issue casting it. Although, there is a very, very strong wind today. So I may not be noticing it. Once the weather calms down I'll see then. A second hook would definitely be welcome. I may add one myself. I had several strikes earlier that probably would have been catches if there was a hook on the rear of the bait. I love how you can twitch this thing and it'll pull a 360.

Spro BBZ-1 4" Shad
So this is my first foray into the world of hard swimbaits. Spro BBZ-1 4" Shad in Killer Gill. The primary prey fish on this lake are Bluegill and Redear Sunfish. I've got to tell you, d**n this thing is fun to fish. Pulled 6 largemouth all in the 2-3 pound range along with three peacocks up to 3.5 pounds in about an hour. What a an absolutely fun bait to use. I was throwing the slow sink version over a point, letting it drop to the 5-7 foot range and slowly retrieving it with twitches every couple of cranks. I watched one Peacock hit it three times before he took it in after I dead sticked it. Just awesome watching that. I'm certain I could have caught several more fish closer to the bottom. I'll be picking up the fast sink later today for that. A fluoro leader would probably have helped the sink rate a bit, but I really don't have any heavier leader material sitting around right now to use. I didn't want to accidentally break off a $20 dollar lure the first time out using it. Highly recommend the lure. Good fun. I think I've found a new addiction.... http://www.***.com/Spro_BBZ-1_Shad_Swimbait_4/descpage-SBZSFS.html#multiview

Cleaning the cork on a rod
Bumping an older thread... I tried out that magic eraser earlier today. I'm sold. That thing does a great job on cork. I didn't realize how much grime was built up on my rod handles. Feels brand new. No more slipping when the handle gets wet.

top water frogs?
Like Shane, I use them year round. Spro hollow bodies, Zoom Horny Toads, Rage Toads and Shads. I try a different retrieve every couple of casts until the fish start reacting. I've had days where the fish wouldn't hit the frogs moving. You just had to cast it and let it sit dead on the water.

Wow Look At This

Why people screw around in front of trains I'll never understand... Lucky SOB's.- Flip/Pitch Rod/Reel?
Sounds like a nice setup, I like the extra fast action. Sounds like I would be better off with the longer rod, because I mainly fish canals with very thick moss and coverage. Just curious, but what kind of line do you usually run on it? I use 40lb braid on the longer rod. I've never broken it. There have been times when I've questioned it. I may bump it up to 50 or 65 one of these days. On the shorter rod is 30lb braid.- Picked Through the Tackle of Van Dams & G-Man's Boats
Now thats how you do it. Taking one for the team! Way to go FFD! Btw, if you can grab me a couple of G-Man's jig boxes, I'll pay for part of the bail....- A few days and a lot of bass at Varner last week
Yeesh, Randall. You've been posting some ridiculous fish lately. Way to go. I may finally need to jump into hard swimbait fishing if thats what it produces...- Flip/Pitch Rod/Reel?
No, that was a different Crucial. Thats the 6'10" MH (CRCX610MH). Both rods have an extra fast action. The Flippin Stick has a beefier blank and a little more of a parabolic bend on it. The smaller rod is a fantastic texas rig and jig rod. It handles moderate cover fairly well, the tip isn't nearly as forgiving as the flippin stick in thicker cover though. The deeper bend on the flippin stick helps to keep fish hooked better. You tend to not rip hooks out nearly as much. Both of them are great rods though.- What lures work good in Fla Winters. (Tallahassee)
Actually some of the lakes there are really good to fish in. Generally theres no real fishing pressure. They also work pretty hard to maintain the quality of the lakes and surrounding waterways. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/bass_disney.html- Flip/Pitch Rod/Reel?
I use a Shimano Crucial 7'6" MH Flippin Stick (CRCX76MH) with a BPS Pro Qualifer in 7.1:1 gear ratio. I've been excessively happy with this rod. Handles punching mats, to frog fishing, texas rigs and jigs. Has a great tip on it. That combo will run you around 275 bucks at regular retail price. The PQ's frequently go on sale so you can save a few bucks if you keep your eyes open.- 63
I think my girlfriend has a different pair for every day of the year. I've never seen her in the same shoes more than once. It's almost sickening how many pairs of shoes most women have.- nice peacock.
If I'm available I'll let you know. I've got some that live behind my house that are usually willing to play. The single best bait will be live shiners though. It's hard as hell to beat a small shiner for peacocks.- Your Honey Hole
My lakes don't have names. None of the spots have names. The one I usually fish on I go by: The cove with the hydrilla. Submerged point 1, 2, etc. Irrigation pipe 1, 2, etc.- New Product Coming soon?Have a problem with bow mount's.Answer here.
I'll bite. 50 bucks. - Some people are just lucky. :)
