  1. Man, I miss my kids being young like that. When they turned six it was a complete turnaround. Now at seven it's no longer, "Why?" Now they think they know everything.
  2. At that price, I see another one or two in my near future.
  3. Chalk it up to lesson learned. Thankfully my lake isn't huge. Only had to go about a mile and some change. The worst part....my oars are sitting in the garage for when I go to larger lakes. Heres another tip: Treat all bodies of water equal. Stupid stuff can happen anywhere and anytime.
  4. Sounds like you guys had a great year. The whole deal with the birds is kind of interesting. They could have been following small baitfish. Who knows, but if it worked, great. Osborne is a nice lake. I need to get out there again one day to fish it. It's been a while for me out there.
  5. I most certainly did. Lets just say shrinkage is not a myth.
  6. charge your batteries and carry an oar : Hindsight is 20/20 aint it. Whoops.
  7. If you're going fishing on an electric only lake, make sure the TM batteries are charged. I was about as far as you can go today on the other side of my lake when I realized that my electronics weren't staying turned on anymore. Rut roh, batteries are dying. Sure enough about a quarter of the way back, no juice. Lake water is fairly cold. Especially when you're swimming while towing the boat back. So please, make sure you charge your batteries. This tip brought to you by my stupidity.
  8. Come on, I can't be the only person that read the title of the thread and snickered. Nice lookin fish, Red. I've really started to appreciate jerkbaits this year.
  9. I guess I should clarify: I meant that how can he not make my top three.
  10. Chris Cornell would make my list. I've got to actually sit back and think about who else would be on mine. But how can Freddie Mercury not make it in the top 3.
  11. Sounds like a good day. I haven't caught anything that large for a while. Have had good numbers lately though.
  12. Good purchase. I love each of my Crucial rods. I couldn't be happier with the performance. My only gripe is that I wish they didn't have the foregrip. Thats not a deal breaker for me though. When I got my first it was between the Crucial and the Avid. The Shimano just felt better in my hands. I didn't like the shorter handle at first, but now I've really started to like it. It makes one handed casting an absolute breeze.
  13. rofl Cowboys in the Super Bowl. Thats rich. Thanks for the laugh BassClary/Collin/TCO. Thats arguably the best joke I've heard all day. Almost as good as the Niners owner saying that they will still absolutely make the playoffs.
  14. I mainly use my fly rods offshore. I've used my smaller rods for bass fishing though. Pretty fun. I've mostly used small poppers, Clouser Minnows, and Deceivers for bass. Great fun. Even more fun when a Peacock nails one. I go through a bunch of minnows and deceivers, they're very easy to tie. Great flies for a wide range of gamefish.
  15. Just some basic colors, nothing special. Just grab a few different shades. I will say I've become a fan of watermelon candy though....
  16. Mmmm, carbon backed fully recline-able seats. Tasty.
  17. I know what you mean, Bassn. Theres been some nasty junk going around lately. I was fine one day and in bed the next. I'm still trying to get rid of it....
  18. Thats pretty cool. FWC has been busy recently. Glad to see some more stuff happening through them.
  19. Sure is purdy lookin. Would take me a while to get used to where the clutch release is on that.
  20. You know, you tell me the Peacocks in my lake have more color. Well I'll tell you, wow that water is clear. One of these days you and I need to hook up and go pound some of the banks. All the lakes that I fish up here are fairly dirty. Thats a fat little fish. Most of the fish I've caught lately have been getting fatter and fatter. Starting to feed with this cooler weather coming in. I had water temps at 79.3-7 earlier today. Only got up to 81.5. Thats a heck of a drop from a couple of months ago where I was seeing water temps in the high 80's and low 90's.
  21. You'll be fine with just the 12lb fluoro.
  22. Curado E5's make for a nice crankin reel. Retail around 170-180. You'd save yourself a few bucks buying one of those. I've never used a $200+ reel personally, so I'm no help to you there. I'm sure in that price range that there are plenty of very nice options though.
