My first lures...
Whittler, Is there a guide on Lip angle to lure depth i should know about for C-baits? I am using looks to decide were the lip goes, instead of putting it where it should be for the desired depth i want for lure.(sentence structure?)

My first lures...
The only one that looks like it will be fully operational, is the Spook clone. I have been concetrating on the popper and the walker and have made a few newby mistakes. I also attempted a small crank but i screwed it up by being in a hurry. Thw biggest problem i have right now is i don't have anything to cut straight with. I am looking at an table top band saw at a pawn shop and a disk/belt sander combo. I enjoy the carving partbut going from retangle to round isn't easy. I hope to do some more trial and error so maybe in a month i will have 4 or 5 baits to show and use.

Forgetting to put in the plug?
I don't think you are going to get a long way from the ramp! I wouldn't bet on that! My boater and i were about 15 miles away from the ramp when we came off plane and figured out that the plug was out. In a newer style Nitro, he had to get in the water to plug it.

My first lures...
Whittler, I went to Home Depot and got the wire and Glue you suggested and i think i found a scale pattern while i was looking around. I was looking at the filler section looking for a small tube of wood filler and i came acroos prefab sheet rock patch kits. This kit uses a metal diamond grate as a backing, i will attach a picture soon to show you. With what i purchased today i should be ready for painting tomorrow night and sealing soon after. I have read of a few different epoxy sealers the last few days, what is the easiest to use.

My first lures...
I found this subtopic the other day and have been hooked since. Thanks a lot Glenn. So i went out to Micheals and bought a few basics, Xacto Carving Knife, a few blocks of Basswood various sides, and a basswood Dowel. I stopped at Taylor's DIY, picked up some Sandpaper (variety packs). I spent about 1 hour reading most of the post here about hardbaits then went to underground tackle, saw a link to Stamina Inc. and spent 3 hours last night looking at stuff to buy and getting ideas. So in about a 36 hour period i have carved and sanded 3 topwater lures. I still don't have paint or eyes yet. Whitler helped with the eyes and I just need to go buy paint. I attached a semi good pick below to show the basics. Again, Thanks Glenn and all of the rest of you. Someday i will hope to send a few out to be tested by some of the best guys i have ever met on the net.

If anyone here wants to come over i'm game but i don't have a boat.

Swivels, Leaders, or Nothing?
About Snaps, if using directly to the lure - do we use the standard pointed snap or should we use the rounded ones? I have tried the pointed style with Lipless Cranks and they affect the retreive so i stopped using them. If the rounded one will work it would make my limited fishing time a little easier.

Old Magazines
Hey, i am active duty also. I also have a little know about security. ebisukhan - you really shouldn't of posted your address on a public board. I understand why you would put this post up, and i apllaud the people who are going to help. Here is what you should do, is edit out the address and email any one the address who wants to help. If they have an email address that doesn't end in .net , .com , or .org don't send it. This is basic OPSEC, and i know you had training on it before being deployed. DOD requirements. I hope you get lots of help but litle things like this can end bad. I DO NOT THINK ANYONE WHO POSTS HERE IS THE ENEMY, You guys are great.

Floating Worm rigs
I really don't know about any of these other worms that have been talked about, the 3X worm really float, i put my smallest bulet weight on one and it stayed on the top. I couldn't figure out how to use them so i just stopped. I'm sure i'll try them again later when i get any chance.

Do tubes have to be hollow?
I watched and IN-Fisherman DVD not long ago... The guy was useing weightless tubes tex-possed, these were the none floating type, to give it differnet actions he would insert bullet weights in the tail. the friction would hold them in place. where you put the weight in the body would change the action. I have tried this a few times, but my in-experiance with tubes, and plastics in gerneral, probably killed my presentation. He caught fish so i believe i is a good idea, some of you more experiance TUBE guys should try it .

Need some help.
I don't know about old tires, but if were thinking about using them, i would scrub them down with simple green(biodegradable cleaner, not toxic to 99.9% of the enviroment) just to get any toxins off the skin of it and drill lots of holes so no air pockets can form.

How many times has this happened to you?
I use Boiler_Animals tech on both my baitcaster, i go out side with a moderately heavy ball weight attached to the line, and cast it as far i think i can, then i pull about 5 yards more out and tape it with masking tape cut to fit it. i get backlash at least 2 or 3 time a day fishing(only been using them for 2 months) this makes it so i can get it fixed really fast. I learned it from Bill Dance tv.

pick and choose

Need some help.
If you can get permision from owner, i would take and dump trees or rocks at various locations ( make a map) Then next season you know exactly where you can(most of the time) find the fish.

What is ur favorite reel?
I like both my 5500C5 and my 6501C6 for bait cast, Right now my Quantum Vapor is my Spinning choice.

best lures for pond fishing
You need to read this board more thouroughly, i spent most of yesterday learning the basics of building and caring for fishing ponds (Stock Tanks, in my neck of the woods) They are in the tips section. In general: Catch a lot of the bass, if the are all uniforming small, start cooking filets(TOO MANY IN WATER), if they are big and skinny they need more bait( NOT ENOUGH FOOD)

Whats the Pattern?
Judgeing buy what he said, he already had limits, he was asking our opinion about what he did to cull some bass and win a tourney. Just from my reading on here for the last 2 weeks, i would pick A... Try to find that big girl waiting for the guys to get their games right
