  1. Thanks for the info and opinion. any others?
  2. 1. who is the manufacture? 2. how does it compare to say the curado 100D or diawa Sol? I have 2 Citica200D and a Cruxis200D, and am looking for slightly smaller reels, the curado100D and sol are perfect, just curious because then prolite is just as small. Iknow the chronarchMg is the best next to the pixy, but both of those are just out of my price range. Dave

On a non-serious note, i think i would modify a M60 mount to fit in the forward light post position, they can run all they want, not much out runs a 7.62mm of lead and all 600+ little friends a minute.( i know i fires faster but i don't remember how fast) ;D Seriously if i thought i would happen, i would be trying to break the boats max speed limit.
  4. The dorsal fins. Hey fluke, i think you are wrong here, the dorsal is the top fin, its the pectorial(sp?) fins. The ultimate has fins that stick out from the sides at rest to look even more realistic than the original bluegill series did. Dave
  5. here is the set up the peices: the base of the crawbug gets pushed onto the peg of the jighead. then you put the hook point insde the open end of the crawbug. after that you skin hook the point on the top side of the crawbug. side view:(bad picture) And this is what it looks like in the water..minus the water of course Any Questions? Dave
  6. later tonight, after work.
  7. I took a buddy of mine out today for little site fishing. We only caught 3 apeice but 4 of them were on the spotremover, just the way you taught me. The other 2 were on jigs, 1 white and 1 greenish/yellow color(i don't know, really) . We probably could of caught more if i knew how to fish, but in a rentl boat no trolling motor or sonar, it was find the fish with polarized lenses and bashem till they hit. Some how my buddy got a little 1.5lber to take a whole bubble gum trickworm on a spot remover. i told him 3 time to cut it in half and he just kept pitching it back in to the bed. We didn't find a single female ON a bed, quite a few around but none actually on one. which sucked because there were some big girls out today. One of the local tackleshop owners was fishing today and he had 3 fish over 5lbs and 2 over 3lbs, plus his share of dinks. He was T-rigging and drop shotting drop offs in 20'+ of water. man electronics must be nice. I wish i could go back Saturdat but i work all day and can get off. There are a few beds i would love to return to. Dave PS big fish was 2lbs 8 ozs -- tied for my PB!
  8. ok, thanks for pointing that out. the rods are still awesome. more tomorrow after thier first outing.
  9. I did a review on these a little over a year ago. They are pretty strong, and sharp. you can't tex-pose them because of point angle, and if you fish them with senkos, you are going to gut hook a lot of fish. they rig like tradional "J" style worm hooks but have the advantage of EWG. The only thing i didn't like was that if you "set the hook" on a a peice of cover, your going in after the hook, cause i never did get one to straighten, even with 65lb power pro.
  10. Zoom superflukes weightless, but 1.5 to 2 feet under a bridge, the original rapala is my preference. Dave
  11. I searched this from the shimano website, apparently it is graphite reiforced fiberglass. the only differencer is they wrap the glass with graphite the same way relmech would wrap the guides on te rod. this makes the rod stronger with out making it stiffer. I hope i said tht right. Dave
  12. In response to my earlier post , i went out to do some window shopping today(baimonkey was right ther with me) I found a whole rack of proto type Dobyns Rods. At $150 each i couldn't say no. So i have a 6'8" Med Xfast and a 7' MH Xfast. Dobyns uses Lamiglas blanks for his rods. I held a Avid 70MHXf, right next to the Dobyns MH, and the weight difference was barely noticable while the difference in power/strength/backbone (what ever you call it) was very apparent. I will get to try thm on the water the first time on Wednesday. I will give a better review come wed night. Dave
  13. Thanks folks, the pyramid has decided it, i'll be looking in to rods. Keepers 1:I probably don't need a Crankbait rod, but i already own a shimano compre 7' Med power Moderate fast action, so i'll keep it. i love the xrap on this rod. 2:THe MBR783 GL2 is more sensitive but just as wippy as the galyans, to i'll use that for spinnerbaits, buzz baits and light jigs and worms. AKA: General purpose Options: 1:One of the local tackle shopes sells St Croix Legend Tournaments(approx $200) and i have picked up a few i like but with out a reel on them i don't know. 2:I like my loomis but i don't like the plastic buttcap, and anything above the GL3 is slightly high $ for me. 3:I read the reviews for the new Airris rod but it is like the IMX just out of my range, but the Ultra XL is below $200. My problem with that is that i haven't found a review about them specificlly. I really don't know what to get, i am reading this forum everyday looking at what others are saying, and all it is doing is making the choices harder. LOL Maybe i will just call ReelMech, if it's built for me the way i ask, i can't complain, can i? Dave AGAIN THANKS FOR THE INPUT! PS: RW, a long time ago you told me not to get carried away with a lot of rigs. I hope i am taking your advice with trying to keep it 3 to 4 baitcasters and 1 spinning rig all of quality stuff.
  14. OR i can send some business to reelmech? HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM????????
  15. Well thanks for the input. NOW, the hard part... AIRRUS or GL3 Dave
  16. The rod or the reel? i have all the lures that i can possibly fish, except swimbaits. So i have some money coming up and want to upgrade my gear. I can't decide if i want to buy 2 new rods or 2 new reels. I have 2 citica200D and 1 Cruxis200 for reels. i'm keeping 1 GL2 MBR783 and 1 Shimano Compre CB rod possibly needing replacement is 1 Galyans 6'6" MED Fast and 1 Shakespeare Axiom 6'6" MH Fast. I would replace the Galyan and axiom rods with Loomis GL3 or AIRRUS Ultra XL rods. OR The cruxis would be replaced with a Diawa SOL, and buy a Feugo so i won't have to play musical rods with 4 complete setups. Thanks for the input.
  17. I don't agree with punting either! that fish had his BPS extreme MH spinning rod almost bent in half when i netted it. I went online later that night a saw a good picture of a 7lb bowfin, and the one we caught was easily larger by a few inches in all directions. Dave
  18. i've had one break off 12 trilene XL, didn't get to see exactly how big it was, just enough to see that it was a bowfin. In the part of virginia i fished, if the bass weren't biting, i would though "LOUD" colors and target bowfin and pickeral. great fighters! I saw my fishing partner at the time "PUNT" a virginia trophy sized bowfin off his deck. i didn't get a chance to pick it up but my guess was 9+lbs.

:-/Man i haven't caught a fish on a senko yet this year or anything else :-/, other than my one jig fish :-?. :-[ :-[i really wish i had your problems! :-[ :-[
  20. WHEN IS THE NEXT MOJO STARTING? I am in need of it bad! Dave
  21. yes that is it, i looked them up, the body is a little smaller on mine but the tail is bigger. i have pictures of senko77's idea in the tacklemaking threads. i just think the fall and action on the shakeyhead would conductive to catching fish. Asking opinions?
  22. Some of you may have notice in the tackle making section that senko77 made me some plastics. Well i was reading about the shakeyhead jigs, in some other posts and remembered some one else asking about using a senko on one. Well senko77 did a prototype splittail senko, looks like the rear fin on a fish. So a shakyhead rigged splittail senko would look like a fish feeding on the bottom, right.
  23. CATT, I've seen a few answer to the question asked in the thread already. Now something that others haven't pointed out is that i depends on the type of swimbait you have. Floating, suspending, slow sinking, or sinking. also it depends on hook styles, stinger or trebles. Stinger style baits theat sink can be used it like a really big jig, bouncing it off the bottom like it is dieing. With trebles on the bottom you really need to know what depth you are trying to fish because the bottom will eat your lure. Most swimbaits i've seen are designed for a slow steady retrieve surface or sub-surface. Hence cast and reel answers you recieved, they were not joking. I hope this helps Dave
  24. one of the local tackle stores had 2 of thesee in thier clearance section. They have a lot of team Daiwa lures in that section. Afew months ago ownership of the store changed, the new owner decider not to carry Daiwa lures anymore. next time i go, i'll snap a pic of the clearance section. Dave
