  2. Not as good as the GLx's but nothing I have ever bought is. The G blanks rod are however a great rod for the price. I am sure that this will not be my last one. Probably will order my Dad one for his birthday in a few months. They are a very good looking well built rod and Larry was great walking me through the process and all of the advice that he gave me I took and am glad that I did.
  3. You won't be disappointed I got to fish last night with mine for about an hour or so and it is a great feeling rod. I would compare it to an IMX but it is lighter than the 3 IMX's I own. Will have to get some pictures up of it.
  4. X2 also you can use a 5/0 Hook in the Ribbits after I switched to a Owner 5/0 twistlock (started with a 4/0) my hooking percentage jumped significantly.
  5. I have never used those particular ones but I have used a Yum version that is very similar to those and have had great success flipping them for Largemouth but never with Smalllmouth they were a pretty big tube 4 1/2 or 5 inches.
  6. Wilson Fraizer also makes a great cork cleaner that I have been using. If anyone wants to check it out. He is also selling a Dvd series that shows you the ins and outs of your Lowrance unit that is great.
  7. I was a 100% Shimano Guy until all of this Daiwa has rubbed off on me. So now I am a Shimano/Daiwa Guy and a 90% Loomis GLX guy although I do own Kistlers, Falcon's (love their cranking rods) and Castaways and just bought a G Blanks Custom that seems to be a really good rod.
  8. Glad I listened to Larry the MH on the RX8 is more like a Heavy rod looks great to would highly recommend them. I did not price the Rx8+ so I do not know what the price difference would be.
  9. Larry told me that the MH in the RX8 model is more like a heavy on the Loomis rods that I have said they were more like the ST Croix ratings I have never bought a St Croix so I cannot comment on that. But I did take his advice and got a MH instead of a Heavy. Will tell you more when I get it probably Friday or Saturday.
  10. I will tell you in a couple of days mine is mailing out today. Got the 6'9" RX8 model wanted a Heavy but went with a MH on Larry's suggestion. Will let you know what I think as soon as I get it. Seems to be a great guy to deal with though.
  11. Daiwa Pixy would be great on that rod

    X2 Best $400 I ever spent.

    X2 on the mizmo's
  16. There launcher is a great crankbait/swimming jig rod I have 2 and love them
  17. I like the Zillion best also unless you are going to be casting baits that weigh less than 1/4oz. I was a tried a true Shimano Guy have bought nothing for the last 15 years but Shimano after all of the praise the Zillions have on this and another message board I decided to pick one up about 4 weeks ago, I now have 4 of them and have retired a few Shimano's they are great reels.
  18. I used to fish Pickwick some around the Natchez Trace bridge probably been 15 to 20 times I only remember 1 trip that I or someone in my boat caught a 5lb+ smallmouth. I have never caught a 7lb+ smallmouth but I have had several hooked and at least 4 have been on Pickwick lake, every year there are 8 to 9lb smallmouth caught on Pickwick. It is a great lake. Most of the big fish come from the main river. I have to wait until our tournament schedule comes out in Oct. but if we do not have a tournament I will come fish too. This will be my first Roadtrip if I can come.
  19. Stan Sloans are great I too have had a set for a long time 15+ years but I like the new Moonlite ones better they are much smaller and take up 1/4 of the room in boat. The bass pro shops ones are good if you are not going to night fish much. But if you ever fish with someone who has a good quality black light you will wonder how you could ever fish with a bps one again.
  20. I also would not fly with one would ship it back ups or something.
  21. I used to tow a 18ft Triton with a 150hp motor with a S-10 it was great until you had to stop. I cannot imagine that a CRV weighs more than a S-10. That would be my concern.

    x2
  23. Or the Booyah Baby Boo (I think) I have broke too many hooks on the Bitsy Bugs, cost me a tournament one time had 2 hooks break in one day. Went home and threw them all away, never tried the Bitsy Flip
