  1. After you make that first cast with a GLX, you will ask yourself, why did it wait to buy this rod.
  2. BR Roadtrip, Be There or Be Square !
  3. Daiwa PLUTON on a Steez SVF 7'4" XHF swimbait rod. It's like a tow truck winch on a broom handle.
  4. Wish I could understand all the issues with P-Line on spinning reels, I swear it works perfect for me which is why I fish with it so much. I wish you guys were coming to the roadtrip, I would gladly let you try my setup for a day just to show you how well it works.
  5. Yeah, mono on spinning gear can cause headaches. :'( He uses 8 lb. Pline on it. I use 6-8 lb. Berkley Vanish or 100% Flouro and haven't had near the issues he has with my spinning gear. I needed to put new line on one of my spinning reels and forgot to do it the night before and started to do it on the way to the lake Saturday with some of his Pline, glad I didn't after listening to him cuss it all day. Which 8# P-Line is he using ? I use 8# P-Line CX prem and never have any problems. -steezy
  6. In the words of Charlton Heston: " from my cold dead hands " X2 for my G.Loomis MBR842 GLX My Daiwa Steez rods have to just suck it up and live with that Badboy.
  7. Spinning Gear Rules: 1. Use a good quality Spinning Reel (doesn't have to be a Steez), cheap spinning reels suck and are a pain in the butt. 2. Use the line weight thats rated for your reel. 3. Spool the reel properly (to avoid line twists) 4. Close the bail manually, do NOT ever close the bail by turning the handle (it will cause line twists). I've been finesse fishing 60% of the time with spinning gear this year and NOT had any issues or line twists. My setup: Steez 2500 spinning reel w/8# P-Line CX premium line (Steez CompileX 6'8" ML spinning rod) Burley, if you hate spinning gear then just send it to me and I will make sure some kids put it to good use.
  8. count me in for the cheesy party
  9. I will arrive around 6pm on Sat.
  10. The SVF-XBD is a frog rod for heavy/slop cover. I have the SVF 7' MHF and its a very good T-rig/Senko rod that could also be used for jigs but I prefer the compileX HF for jigs. What's the source for the SVF-XBD Braided Line Casting Frog Rod for $350 ? Is it a new or used rod because thats almost $100 below retail.
  11. Lookin Pretty Good ! Let me know when you are ready to take a stab at painting a steez
  12. neither steez compileX 6'8" MLF
  13. steez 2500 reel & steez compileX 6'8" MLF spinning rod. simply the best ! 8-)
  14. never had a problem buying new reels on ebay
  15. I like and use it all the time.
  16. I think you answered your own question.
  17. I gotta know if you were brave/crazy enough to unhook your frog from the gator or did you just cut the line ?
  18. I second the cumara for the core, its a really nice match. If you want to kick it up a notch then you might consider a G.Loomis MBR843 or MBR842 GLX for a great multipurpose combo.
  19. The smoothness of the Steez often makes people feel it's less powerful/durable but don't be fooled. It can equally match the core 50 on everything except brackish/salt water. The Steez is freshwater only, the core 50 is a light/smooth reel and thats why I keep 1 core 50 along with all my Steez.
  20. I'll be there Saturday afternoon thru Wed morning, NO boat (sorry) but will very much appreciate an invite on anyones boat.
  21. Nice fish, now com'on to the roadtrip and catch some more like that !
  22. Good article. Ish Monroe will tell you the same thing, if you can't see the frog then, "set the hook !"
  23. you are a great dad !
