Sharpie and Braid
X10, its more expensive but you dont have to waste money on sharpies and your time coloring the line and its almost silent moving through the guides. Powerpro sounds like a hacksaw moving through the guides.

steez flouro any good?
I tried Daiwa Steez Fluoro 2 times on my Steez reels (Baitcast and Spinning). It seemed stiff to me and did not cast as well and its expensive. I removed it from the reels and sent it back to the vendor and they replaced it with another brand of line so I didnt loose any money just some time. I like P-Line much better. Now for Braid, IMHO theres nothing better than Daiwa Samurai Braid. Some people dont like how soft it is but I like the stoftness, strength and how quiet is it moving through the rod guides, its basically silent. Very expensive.

custom Rods???
I've selected the blank & components and purchased 2 custom rods. They are worth every dollar ! Pros: They fish better than my high end Steez and GLoomis GLX rods. I get exactly what I want in a fishing rod (blank, reel seat, guides. grip) Price could be competitive if you stick to the basics. Cons: Long wait times for blank and components. Very expensive if you go high end. If warranty is a big issue then I dont receommend a custom. The blank mfg may warranty the blank but you still have to deal with the cost of the rebuild and replacement components.

Would it be possible?
Both the Daiwa Steez and Shimano Core50 are made from Magnesium, these reels weigh 5.5 oz compared to most baitcasters that weigh 8-9 oz or more. Doesn't get much better than that! 8-)

braided line colour loss?
The Daiwa Samurai will hold the color, is soft and quite moving through the guides.

Tying a leader to braided line
I was also having that problem, thanks for the tip !

Tying a leader to braided line
All Braids are NOT noisey, just some of them. Daiwa Samurai Braid is almost slient. PowerPro and several others sound like a saw moving through the guides, I can only imagine what its doing to the guides.

sebile 105 swimbait
Ive tried the Sebile 105 swimbait and the Huddleston 3 3/4" weedless grass minnow swimbait and the huddleston will catch 10 times more fish. It has the most natural action when it swims. The Huddleston 3 3/4" weedless grass minnow at $7 each is a bit pricey but well worth it. I use a 7' MHF for the Huddleston 3" & 4" and the Sebile 105 swimbaits. The Hudd is 7/16 oz. I would probably recommend a HF or XHF if you plan to throw anything heavier.

If you could have ONE spinning rod...

That last rod pictured is a Matt Davis Otterod. I would recognize that handwritten script on the blank anywhere. Looks just like my NFC custom that Matt built.

Baitcaster v. Spinning
Impossible to answer, there is a fit for each one. If I have to pick an one , its both.
