  1. thanks for the input guys, i appreciate it
  2. went out at 3p.m. today dead still water 80-85 degree air. i was learning to fish t-rig/jigging. i threw the tube out and just let it fall to the bottom. for some reason i decided to just leave it there and get out my ultralight and caught a bluegill on it since they are bedding and easy to spot. after that went back to my tube, popped it a little once and bam a nice one hit. jumped 3 times before i could land it, but it was a 21" lmb. i had to let out a little holler which in retrospect might have been a little odd to the two father and son combos fishing on the same shoreline i was. im just really glad to have landed monsters by learning new techniques. last week was the dropshot and this week was the t-rig. still got much to perfect on them but man these big fish are sure a good incentive. ill post pics tomorrow of the one i caught. btw what do you guys hypothesize happened in the minute that tube was just sitting there and could it be that the bass was just staring at it until it popped? *edit* pictures:) pardon my aloof face since i wasnt sure if that angle was going to work:P
  3. i was wondering what is the reasoning behind a MH versus a M?
  4. i have a 6'6" spinnerbait rod could that double as a topwater or do spinnerbait rods usually have too fast of a tip?
  5. when im alone its much easier to do that...i caught my first bass on a t-rigged tube today. that was my first ever "jigging" fish and has given me a boost of confidence. i think its good to force yourself to do that so that when you are in a moment when u need to produce a fish you will have all the techniques at your disposal
  6. i am trying to compile the rods i would need for a solid set and i was wondering if you guys think these would pretty much cover it. could you guys give suggestions for other techniques that would fit under the rods listed or other rod type suggestions that may be better than the ones i have listed. thanks again everyone casting 7'6" H xf for flipping/pitching heavier cover/deepwater jigging/worming 7' MH f for flipping/pitching lighter cover/spinnerbaits/swimbaits 7'M mod. for cranking above 10'/hard jerkbaits 7'6" MH mod. for deep cranking/lipless cranks spinning 7' M xf for dropshot/shakyhead open water finesse 6'6" M f for skipping/weighless plastics
  7. ive tried them and the one in sexy shad worked really well for me. it worked well on pike too until i finally lost it to one...

  9. i did notice a few bps rods fit that criteria, but the lack of a strong warranty is making me shy away from them...powell looks nice:D keep the suggestions coming, thanks guys
  10. hey guys im trying to find a rod that it 7'6" heavy power with xf action...and also below 130 dollars. i found the shimano crucial has a 7' heavy power with xf action but can anyone think of other brands that fit the criteria i stated above? thanks

  16. ive had success as many have already mentioned on soft jerkbaits
  17. ive had success with finding the crankbait that just ticks the weeds and every time it hangs up just rip it a bit and bites usually come:)
  18. so recently i was in a tournament and was shown the drop shot rig. i decided to buy some hooks and some 6# yo-zuri hybrid (thanks to all the proponents on br for this) and try it on a small lake near my house. it was in the middle of the day and i wasnt expecting to catch much but i forced myself to bring just the rig so i could learn it. long story short, i found bluegills bedding and just beyond them bass just waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting bluegill. my first first was about a 14 inch spawned out female and as i was reeling her in, i see two massive shadows swimming near the edge of the beds. quickly released the 14 incher and a few minutes later i caught this monster. funny thing was the slightly smaller one (estimated 20in.) was following the one i hooked all the way up to shore. unfortunately you wont be able to see me next to it as a comparison since i was fishing alone but it was about 22.5 inches and im guessing around 6.5 lbs. my new personal best:) basically im glad i learned the dropshot and had such a great reward for it:) *edit* i will post pics once i am removed of my noob status..lol
  19. thanks guys for all the welcomes. in the past mainly this small lake in a subdivision, but recently following the club and went to whitewater, wi, lake geneva, wi, etc. i dont have much experience yet, but hopefully that will change after being with this club a while.
  20. i mean ive skipped docks, i guess i just wanted a more theoretical basis on which action tip was the best. regardless ill just test it out once i get it and see how it goes:) thanks for the info guys
  21. lets say with the exact same lure would an extra fast tip be more beneficial than a fast tip with more give?
  22. hello all, i recently purchased a compre 6'6", med, fast action rod for skipping and basically throwing weightless or near weightless plastics. would you say for skipping in particular an extra fast action might be more beneficial or would a fast action rod help load up better for skipping? thank you guys
  23. just signed up here. i have learned a lot already just by snooping around:P just recently joined a bass club and with the help of br i will hopefully win a few tournaments in the process:)
