Drop Shot Weights
TD Tungsten Skinny Drop Shot Weights. Here in MN we have heavy vegetation, and the pencil weights do a much better job of sliding through without getting caught up. 3/8 or 1/2 oz.

Anybody use these? Hows the action? Thanks, VC

Which Rod/Reel?
cranks and jigs, does that change anything? If you are going to use this setup for both techniques I would go with 6-8 lb P-Line CXX, but I prefer braid/leader with jigs so eventually you should look into splitting these techniques into separate setups.

Favorite aspect of Bass Fishing?
1) Being out on the lake on a nice summer day....and having a beer 2) When I have a bad day, I like to evaluate what I could have done better, and improve on that for next time. Every day out on the lake is a learning process

How many fish am I missing out on?
I will help put this into perspective on what you COULD be missing out on. This wasn't an everyday occurrence, but I was fishing slow senko style baits all morning and into the afternoon. I decided to go to my specialty, DD cranks. Within 20 minutes I caught three 5 lb fish....Being well rounded in your techniques is VERY important on some days, because you never know what you are going to have to do to get them to bite. With being said, you should be fine 75-80% of the time with the techniques you listed.

Going all green pumkin for the new year
Black & Black/Blue will do just fine The way I look at it, as long as you have a wide variety (at least 5), at least one of those colors will work. I usually just take out the five colors that I have the most confidence in, and going through the process of seeing which on the fish want on that particular day.

Another frog rod question
Just curious, why do people like split grips with techniques that require you to chuck the bait around all day>? IMO full grip handles allow me to throw all day with more comfort. Everyone likes different things. I prefer split grip for the comfort as well. I never questioned the fact that people like split grips. My question was WHY?? do people like split grips for these techniques...

Reel buzing when casting
I guess I'm a little confused by this question...I would prefer no sound, but if it doesnt have to do with anything internal I am fine with it.

Reel buzing when casting
The only advice we can give you without hearing it is to give it a nice cleaning. If it still continues, maybe its time to send it in to get professionally done, it the reel is even worth it :-/ Check out http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/ One other thing, are you using braid? That could the noise you are hearing, depending on what type of braid you are using.

New Pitchin rod
ww2farmer, I agree with you 100%. I also like to pitch with a shorter 7' H rod when my target is a short distance away or I need to get my bait into a tight location. Just because people associate pitching with a longer rod doesn't mean you have to use a specific length. Like J said, its a type of cast that doesn't need a specific length rod. With that being said, I would start out with a 7'6" because that is what I use for the most part because I double it as a big jig rod. You just missed out on the TW black Friday sale or else I would suggest the Dobyns 765 flip.

New fishing show on Versus
True, I like Scotts show also. The difference is that 2 anglers vs 4 anglers in a 30 minute show. Im hoping it gets better. Just got a chance to watch the show today, and I have one word for it....TERRIBLE!! Sean, like you said there are 4 anglers, which makes it hard to keep up with the actual competition aspect of the show. I also noticed that the personalities of the anglers just aren't fit for their own show, if anything Gary Dobyns should be hosting. That army angler needs to go...he tried WAY too hard to be funny.

Frog Fishing
Depending on what you are snagged on. If you are trying to rip through vegetation, then braid will excel. When fishing around cover such as wood, this is where braid has some flaws because it doesn't have good abrasion resistance. The best quality of braid, like SoFlaBassAddict mentioned, is no stretch. It is vital when fishing frogs to get a good hookset, and braid is the best line to do that. When fishing heavy cover with frogs, you don't want to mess around with the fish, instead you want to power them to the boat is quickly as possible, and the following setup is the best to help you do that. 1) 7'6 H rod (Dobyns is my preference) 2) 7:1 reel (Anything Shimano ) 3) 50 # + Power Pro braid, depending on the amount of cover. 4) Frog with good hooks (Spro bronzeye or R2S Bully Wa)
