  1. Maybe I will catch one like that ice fishing this Saturday :-/
  2. Yes, Flouro Leader will help. I use Seaguar's Leader when up North. You still could lose some, but that leader material is tough stuff. 30lb should be good. Thanks cranker!
  3. What other trailers does anyone else use on these? Do you thread it in the hook or just hook it through the body? Zoom Speed Craw Berkely Chigger Craw SK Rage Craw Netbait Paca Craw I like to texas rig it on the jig. This keeps the bait from sliding down the jig.
  4. I'm glad to hear someone else is fan of Bitsy Bugs!
  5. I agree with most of what is being said that you CAN catch large fish with smaller baits, but the majority of the fish I catch on the bigger baits are almost strictly large fish. Therefor, if you want to specifically target trophy size fish, use a larger bait. Why do you think Californians throw those monster swimbaits?
  6. I rarely throw swimbaits, but when I do its when the fish are VERY active. I like to slow to slowwww roll the deeper 12 size over weeds right off of drops...I have caught 6 lb bass to 48 in muskies...If it wasnt for the hidden hook, it would be very difficult to run this type of bait where I live.
  7. Soft plastic worms I prefer Zoom Ol' Monsters
  8. I prefer Basstrix paddle tail in the 5" size Or Huddleston weedless 6" Perch
  9. I never fish without it! In the upper midwest, weeds over take our lakes. Megastrike helps get my baits through the vegetation more easily than without it on. It also helps keep the smell of whatever is on my hands off of the bait.
  10. I use leaders when I am specifically fishing for muskies, but that type of leader does not go over well with the bass. I'm thinking its just another aspect that makes it look unnatural.
  11. This is a question for all of the guys who fish generally deep cranks in lakes with out toothy friends. I use 10 lb P-line straight to the crank, but have lost a number of cranks in my life from bite offs. Would tying a 30+ flouro leader significantly improve me chances? Would it effect the action? Thanks, VC
  12. I did. They are all 7'11". A couple of inches too long. You have one listed in your list that is 7'11"..... Look into the Dobyns champion line; they have a few that will work for swimbaits
  13. Hopefully that changes soon!I want a new magtouch I have noticed that as well, I did however get a fish eagle 2 (best rod around $90) for $30
  14. This color pattern is flippin awsome!
  15. The megabug is currently on the top of my wish list. Cannnoott wait to get that out for some flipping
  16. Quillback, Let us know how you do by posting some pics on North Star Custom Baits facebook fan page!
  17. Definitely go with a longer rod, heavier power, and higher gear ratio, but keep in mind that fishing is very opinionated. What I tell people is go into a Cabelas and just feel out the rods. Whatever feels right for you and is in your price range, that is the one you should go with.
  18. Amazing jigs, and great work on those photos!
  19. Norman, Rapala DT, and Spro little john Out of the two mentioned though, I would have to say bandit. As said earlier they are truer right out of the box.
  20. This..Well said I like the 6.2:1 gear ratio so I am to slow down or speed, depending on how the fish are reacting that day
  21. These are the fishing conditions when you need a high speed reel: 1) Bottom bouncing baits 2) Fishing in thick vegetation/frog fishing 3) Burning baits
  22. As I posted earlier, you want a 7.1:1 gear ratio, because it helps pick up the slack line quicker when you get a strike
